Aggrenox and headache

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox and headache

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Avatar f tn My mother had a stroke about 5 months ago and we are considering opening the blood thinning aggrenox capsules and giving her half the dosages with applesause. She is already on the lowest dosage available. It's always a crapshoot to take the chance to alter medication as your doctor will tell you. The only thing aggrenox does is allow the blood to get through areas where the passages are very small due to calcification etc., so keeping the blood thin is important.
Avatar n tn I cut the Gabapentin to a lower dose and I think it was from another prescription Plavix and they changed it to Aggrenox I am doing fine now. Age is a bummer. I feel 30 but my body does not realize this! Smile.I appreciate your time and answer. Have a wonderful Summer.
1013028 tn?1250923267 Though the drugs of choice for a lupus anticoagulant are heparin and warfarin (coumadin), Plavix may be administered additionally to prevent arterial thrombotic episodes. Aggrenox has the same action as Coumadin. The choice of drug and management plan differs with different doctors and the risk factors of the patient. Please discuss the management plan with your doctor. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn He tried Plavix(was allergic) and Aggrenox which increased the headache frequency. We are just at a loss with his current neurologist and feel he is at a loss of what to do. We are seeing a new neurologist on Thursday with the hopes of finding something that will help. As far as the sleep apnea, I will hopefully get him convinced to try something new as I realize the CPAP is of great importance. Just looking for any kind of suggestions of what to try.
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?
Avatar f tn So I have pretty much stopped taking my medications. Except Aggrenox, Levothyroxine, and Celexa. Also before the worst of it, I would get severe heaviness in my chest and had a hard time breathing. There has to be an explaination out there somewhere! Thank you so much for your comments.

Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
469014 tn?1207171512 I went through a very similiar situation with my father 12 years ago, but we found out about it because he had a stroke. He was 100% blocked on the right hand side and 95% blocked on the left hand side. Like your father, his arteries in the back are also blocked at about 80%. I remember the surgeon said that the arteries in the back of the neck carry a 20% mortality rate in order for them to be repaired. They put him on medication to control the situation.
Avatar f tn About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.
Avatar f tn you have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. You were strong and conquered you demons more than ones and now you are ready to do it again. It would be good to have your husband on your side while you are at it. Good luck to you.

I had infectious endocarditis (symptoms mimicked congestive heart failure) at 47 at MVP which has since calcified and since unknown source, had major anitbiotics covering every possibility for 2 months through a PIC line (vanc, gent, and 2 others) which resulted in kidney failure and creatinine now close to normal.
Avatar n tn I've been sleeping alot in the past few days and keep getting small headache. I'm not sure if the headache is from sleeping too much or just hormonal changes. I've been eating every two hours but small portion everytime and drinking good amount of water. is there something i can do to improve this? should i be worried about sleeping too much?
Avatar n tn Blood shot eyes If you are looking at a computer screen or any other type of screen, then it would be wise not to use a computer whilst you have your headache. It could be a migrainal type of headache and starring and glaring at screens, going late to bed can cause vision and head problems. Make sure that you drink plenty of water no more than 2 litres a day, as dehydration can also cause headache problems.
Avatar n tn I have constant headaches, right leg numbness, and left arm numbness, neck rigidity, chills and goose bumps often, lethargy, mild vision problems, and some rashes but no fever. This all started a year ago when I was lifting weights (incline press) and had a sharp pain that ran from my neck to my head above my nose. It put me to the floor and I went to the emergency room that day. CAT scans, MRI's (brain, thoracic, and cervical), lumbar puncture showed nothing.
