Avatar m tn Then I realized I can control it with oral drugs, so I changed insuline to actoplus and metformin 15/850 twice a day. Now, my A1C has been keeping at range 5.8-6.2 for the past 2 years. I read some paper about MODY a few days ago. Now I am worrying about if I have MODY. I am 29 now. I am the only one with diabetes in my family history. I am overweighted and my BMI is 2.75. Both actoplus and metformin work very well for me. Will you please give me any advice if I should go to do MODY tests?
Avatar m tn I take 3 diabetes pills Actoplus, Glimiperide and Onglyza, what is healthier taking pills or injecting insulin?
Avatar n tn My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30). Why should my wife be taking medication with her levels being slightly higher than the desired mid-point?

1068968 tn?1256169388 Yes to the Neuropathy, DX of Peripheral neuropathy in 1998 and it was put down to chronic Alcoholism. I stopped drinking in 02.....the numbness in my feet continued to get gradually worse..... Last Tuesday I met my NS, He did the usual motor and sensory neurological tests....no reflexes in my lower limbs and positive Plantar Response so he thinks it maybe due to a 7 mm syrinx (found on MRI) extending from C5 > T2....he said the syrinx was there all my life....
Avatar m tn About a week after the condom broke while having sex with a woman I had just met as well as receiving unprotected oral, I started having tingling sensations in my upper left back that soon became stinging. I saw a doctor a week after it started who diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy of the upper left back. I had a rapid hiv test from blood drawn from my arm 19 days post possible exposure, and 2 insti (finger prick) test at 5 and 7.5 weeks post exposure, all of which returned negative.
Avatar m tn Do you have history of cervical spondylosis? Weakness and shoulder pain are probably associated with cervical myopathy or neuropathy as nerve compression caused by osteophyte or disc protrusion leads to pain in the arm. Please get MRI or X ray cervical spine done to rule out this possibility. Try topical counterirritants, diclofenac, hot compressions along with physiotherapy for a week or so. If no relief is seen, do consult neurologist.
Avatar f tn With few of the TB medications, Vitamin B Complex (esp B12) is prescribed to avoid a potential side effect of medicines like neuropathy. Therefore, I would recommend consult your doctor first to evaluate this possibility or any other nerve injury cause. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I should also point out that whole body tingling is not a medical sign of neuropathy. Neuropathy involves individual nerves. On the hand, tingling of the sort you describe is a common sign of hyperventilation which in turn a common result of anxiety. When you test again, as it appears that you plan to do, there is no point whatsoever in further testing for HIV.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago i had sex with a woman i met in a club, during sex the condom broke and i stopped emediately, she also gave me oral for about 10 seconds without the condom. for the past 5 days ive been experiencing a tingly crawling and now slightly painful sensation in my upper left back and now there appears to be a pimple in the spot where it tingles. ive been reading bout shingles and it scares me more to read between the link between shingle and hiv.

642877 tn?1281799282 One MET is equivalent to your resting metabolic rate; 2 METS is any activity that requires two times your metabolic rate, etc. This measure is determined by the amount of oxygen consumed, which indicates the level of intensity a person is working. At 1 MET, an average man would be consuming 250 milliliters (ml) of oxygen per minute; an average woman would be consuming 200 ml of oxygen per minute. For those of you who wish to be even more exact, one MET is equal to 3.
Avatar f tn I have neuropathy that started in the arms after appendicitis surgery. It was first diagnosed as carpal tunnel. Since then it spread to the back of the hands, then legs and face. After exercise, when i go to bed, all the muscles in my body are twitching.

1973666 tn?1325964688 My wife (39 otherwise totally healthy) was diagnosed by a Neuro (in early Dec 2011) with Small Fiber Neuropathy. He ordered tons of tests to find the cause. All came back normal, except her MRI with contrast showed CMI with 6mm. No symptoms for CMI so she was labeled asymptomatic. She got an infection and a blood clot from the IV when she got the MRI, and was put on an antibiotic and aspirin.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago i had sex with someone i met for the first time, the condom broke and i pulled out emediately but before that she gave me oral for about 10 seconds without the condom. about 7 days after that i started feeling a tingly crawling sensation in my back which got worse over the next few days, sometimes stinging. everything ive read on the internet about these symptoms points to shingles and it scares me knowing the link with shingles and hiv.
Avatar n tn Hi, After many exam, my doctor just told me that she think my chronic pain to the legs is probably due to neuropathy. We've used a list of question from the diabetic foundation to evaluate the type of pain i have and it all indicated to the neuropathy, even if i'm not diabetic. So were came the neuropathy? I did research on the web for side effect for the other med i was taking. And to my surprise Celebrex is a potential contributor to neuropathy.
Avatar m tn I have CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demylinating Neuropathy) this is the chronic form of Guillan Barre. I will be going on Medicare in April and I need to know if they will cover my IVIG treatments. The drug is Gamunex. I can't get any answers from Medicare.
Avatar n tn thanks for the response, the last test I had was at the 11 week 3 day mark. That was the 5th time I tested since December. The third time I tested, the results came back equivocal for HSV1, the 4th and 5th test came back negative. The 1st and last testing included HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis, Chlamydia, and gonorrhoeae. All results negative. I did not have the burning sensations before December.
Avatar f tn I have burning in the bottoms of my feet, as well as neuropathy in feet and hands. The neuropathy is caused by years of untreated pernicious anemia, so if you haven't been tested for B12 deficiency, you should ask your doctor to do so. I'm not sure about the burning in the bottoms of my feet. I don't think it's thyroid related, but at this point, I can't say.
Avatar f tn I am 2 chemos away from finishing my round of six and have developed peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet. I am on 300mg Neurontin 3 x a day and it still seems to be getting worse. The pain keeps me from walking long distances and I cannot hang my hands down; I have to keep my elbows bent. I have also tried acupuncture. I use warmth to alleviate the pain but it is only a temporary relief. Any ideas or experiences?
