Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS in 1985 and it is now the Secondary Progressive type, (Slowly progressive) I have a history of medication intolerance. Medications are ether slow to metabolize or be eliminated. Whatever the cause, I develop toxic, life-threatening symptoms on very small doses. I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day.
Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn prolia may cause low calcium levels, especially if you have kidney problems. Take calcium and vitamin D as directed by your doctor. (See also How to Use section.) Your doctor will order calcium blood tests before your first injection and during treatment.
Avatar f tn My PA who ordered my bone DEXA scan (since I have osteopenia), had ordered it because it had been 2 yrs since my last one. I had it done on Tues. and they called me today saying that my bone density had worsened and now I'm considered advanced osteopenia 'right before osteoporosis'. They want me to come in to talk to her about further treatment, more aggressive treatment'. My husband thinks that since I just had the 3 mon.
Avatar f tn As I have osteoporosis besides hep b, I have been taking Actonel 35mg for 5 years with little improvements and my doctor added now Evister for about 6 months. But I feel that those medicines are not helping me at all and may be they are damaging my already infected liver. So I decided to drop them and take instead vitamin k-2 (Menatetrenone (MK-4)) and I found this article and similar ones in internet. http://www.aor.ca/assets/Research/pdf/Advances_10_May_2006_Menatetrenone.
Avatar f tn I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
Avatar f tn It also affects the absorption of calcium, which in turn can lead to osteoporosis and fractures. Discuss your concerns with your doctor before stopping any medication. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn s bloodwork is if they are on certain cholesterol medications (in the same group as Lipitor, Crestor, etc), as these can cause break down in muscle tissue as a side effect, releasing this enzyme into the blood Your grandfather should make sure to follow up with the health care provider who ordered the test, and have it repeated and/or have further testing done. If he is on one of these medications, he should ask his doctor about discontinuing it until he can get in to have the test repeated.
Avatar n tn i was recntly diagnosed with osteopenic bones. Degenerative change of the inferior of the inferior aspect of both S1 joints, right greateer than left. Mild narrowing of both hip joint spaces related to degenerative disease. Complete disc space loss at L2-3 qnd L5-S1 with moderate narrowing at other levels. Also anterior osteophytes of moderate degree. I am 75 years old, have had many surguries, including two recent knee replacements.
Avatar f tn t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.
974371 tn?1424653129 They found a 9mm illdefined Hypodense lesion Within the left kidney With Hounsfield units up to 109? Solid lesion is not excluded? Also no obstructing 2mm Left renal calculus. Abdominal Multiphase MRI recommended. My GI doctor does not seem concerned but has ordered the MRI and referred me to a urologist. The GI doc has been doing a multitude of tests trying to determine the reason for my abdominal issues but he thinks I am dealing with IBS.
Avatar m tn And if you have a parathyroid problem, do NOT take vitamin D. If you have low vitamin D in your blood and high calcium, do not try to enter more vitamin D into your diet. If you do, you put yourself at substantial risk for a stroke.
Avatar n tn I can really relate to what you're saying! I too have had GERD for years. That's controlled really well with Prilosec. I had an endoscopy 2/05 that showed an esophageal stricture, dr. stretched it. That really helped the lump in throat feeling but not the terrible upper abdomin pain. It feels like contractions or something. I'd rate it a 12 on 1-10 scale! I can't sit still, have to walk the floor when it hurts. Went to ER with same symptoms 8/07 and ended up removing my GB 9/07.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Already I am not able to take my Prevacid the way it should be taken because it will interfer with the Synthroid. Boniva would complicate my pill schedule even more. I am just not sold on the fact that I need to take it. There is no history of ostero in my family and I wonder if I can do the same thing with food. It seems to me it is not a sure thing, just a precaution. What is your take on this?
Avatar n tn I have had osteopenia for many years; I have been able to rebuild my bone density by taking calcium and magnesium, but if you've already been diagnosed with osteoporosis, you might need to go on a med specifically for that. What is your current thyroid status?
294425 tn?1288528395 3, and my vitamin D, 1,25 was 48. I was discharged and told to see an endocrinologist. The first appt. I can get is Oct. 3rd. I am also an MS patient, with Gastroparesis and numerous other issues. I have been having a terrible time with nausea for the past several days that does not act like when my Gastroparesis flares up. Phenergan is very little help. The fatigue is off the charts.
Avatar f tn because the Metatarsal and my toes became very senitiive where my nerves were swallon and the doctor and had said it was not from Octonel but I disagree I stopped the actonel and in two weeks my feet were fine. I would bet my life it was the Actonel. Anyway in order to go on the Arimidex I would have to get a shot of Reclast for the bones that you need only once a year. As confused as I am If Octonal reacted on me like this what would I do for a whole year if relcast did this to me.
