I am 3 years post breast cancer i had lumpectomy chemo rads i have taken tamoxofen for 2,5 years now on aromasil i had a bone density scan and was told i had low calcuim levels, now on calcuim sandox and actonel asked if i had osetoprosis and was told no have read around actonel and have not taken it yet as of the side effects please can you advice thanks.

I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. Drink a lot of water??? What did she base that on??? Was she a MOA or a RN? It matters not, because getting the shot again will not harm you. It might make your wallet thinner. Stop worrying.

You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.

t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.

m 40 years old and recently found out that I also have osteo penia in one of the vertabrae in my lower back and my doctor wants me to take Actonel...however, those bone density medications can really exacerbate the reflux problems.

Thank you for the response. I think I have had about every GI test done. Who checks hormonal endocrine imbalances. Metabolic issues, etc? I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax.
