Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

Avatar f tn I tested positive to HCV antibodies but further testing with PCR RNA Quantative testing was negative. I live in Canada and wonder if it will be a problem down the road with travel insurance or joining an extended health plan. Anyone have any experiences with this, Canadian or American? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.

720656 tn?1311040235 I also have hypothyroid post treatment but I was already trending that way prior to starting treatment. I wasn't technically hypo prior to treatment but my numbers, over the past several years, have gradually been getting higher (TSH). Once I started treatment it pushed me directly into hypo and I started on levothyroxine within the first few months of treatment. I am currently 20 months post treatment and I am still taking levothyroxine and I assume I will need to do so forever.
719868 tn?1230422075 Actonel, plus Vitamin D3-ANALOG from Denmark for bone re-mineralization (which is not available in the USA yet, but has been used all over Europe with lab proven success), and Crestor for high cholesterol. I had to come to Panama to be diagnosed with Hashi/hypo because my USA family doctor would not run any test except TSH, even though I repeatedly asked him to do the thyroid panel. He said the TSH was normal so no need to test any more.
Avatar n tn s bloodwork is if they are on certain cholesterol medications (in the same group as Lipitor, Crestor, etc), as these can cause break down in muscle tissue as a side effect, releasing this enzyme into the blood Your grandfather should make sure to follow up with the health care provider who ordered the test, and have it repeated and/or have further testing done. If he is on one of these medications, he should ask his doctor about discontinuing it until he can get in to have the test repeated.
Avatar m tn Hello, Wondering if anyone has ever received a positive result back from the non-specific IGG EIA test in Canada, through Public Health? I've read a few testimonials in which people claim that they have had positive swabs, but negative blood tests from Public Health. Leads me to question the accuracy of the test, or weather or not it works at all. Thanks.
572651 tn?1530999357 I encourage Americans to be skeptical of what their politicians claim about health care in Canada, particularly those politicians who are opposed to health care reform. They usually get it wrong. I have familly members who have had hip and knee replacements who did not wait nearly as long as those timeframes you mention, Kyle, though I appreciate some patients probably do.
Avatar m tn If i go to a community health center, will it be free?. The only reason i dont want to see a doctor, is money issues.
7801868 tn?1395885718 Is there much difference between the way ultrasounds and appointments work in canada, usa, and europe? I live in canada but i see a lot of posts about only having two or three ultrasounds throughout the whole pregnancy.. I have had one appointment and ultrasound at least every 4 weeks till 28 weeks, then every two weeks until 35 weeks (im 33 weeks atm) then every week. Just curious on how other peoples experiences are going. I wish i could see my baby everyday!!
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn s a given as we all have health insurance as per the Canada Health Act. Supplemental insurance for most prescription meds, eye care, dental care is another matter and covered by supplemental health plans. I have that too. Other interesting questions would include how much do each of us pay for premiums, how much are our co-pays. I'm curious about how much $$$ is spent in total one year on my health care including physician visits, radiology, ER visits, etc.
Avatar f tn still looking for possible IL28B testing and any of the latest in Canada, Has anyone filed in Ontario for transfusion compensat claim, just wondering about questions and procedure of the health long term care Hep C assist program.
Avatar f tn My hubby needs to see a specialist in Canada regarding this issue. Does anyone have any names of docs in Canada who deal with AD. We were vacationing in Australia, both got bit by jellyfish. I had AD for 3 months and it went away. He still has it after 2 years. He was healthy, young 35 yr old with no health issues. It's crazy, I could make a movie out of our experience. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I'm just curious if there is anyone from Canada that has been accepted for Triple Therapy Treatment? I'm in British Columbia and I have to meet the treatment critieria before the Canadian government will fund treatment for me. So, the one thing holding me back is that I have to meet the enzyme criteria of having to have 3 lab tests of enzymes that are 1.5 times higher than normal. The problem is that most of my enzymes are in the normal range.
Avatar m tn The care and management of ones own health and body lay under the domain and within responsibility of the individual. This is a right provided by and guaranteed by the Charter of Rights in Canada. Health Canada wishes to bypass the Charter of Rights and instead play 'god' with my health. I for one, do not nor will not grant Health Canada the opportunity to preempt my life choices. C 51 is Bad policy, unneccessary Government and bad health. Agree Disagree.
Avatar m tn OK so yesterday i got bitten by a stray cat. My health anxiety kicks in and i freaked out thinking im gonna die from Rabies. So i went to ER they cleaned the wound and gave me a shot and also antibiotics and told me that i can get a rabies shot if i want to. So i decided to be on the safe side and take the rabies shot although the cat seemed to be friendly and seemed to belong to someone. Now back to Rabies.
