Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn I am just tired of taking medicenes that seem to cause other problems. I think I have the GERD from taking Actonel even though I followed the instructions to the letter for taking the Actonel. No longer take it. Just take calcium.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Hi fahadali2008, hope you are feeling better and able to have some sleep? Since when were you taking Lexotinal for sleeplessness and how much useful was it? Had it been prescribed by a doctor? Can you say the reason for stopping the use of this drug completely? Did you have any serious side effects of the drug? It is better you consult your attending physician or consult a sleep specialist before abruptly stopping the drug to be advised on the alternate medications.
720656 tn?1311040235 You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
Avatar n tn He wants me to see a rheumatologist but an available appointment will be months away. I am 75 and have been on Vytorin for at least 5 years as well as Actonel. My bone scan last year was good for someone my age. What should I do while waiting to see an arthritis doctor? How serious could this be?
Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an equivalent to the patch that one can take....I have insurance but since it just started I do not have any insurance cards yet therefore I cannot afford to get the patch yet. The only pharmacy near me that carries the patch says it's more than $500 for 15. So is there something that can be taken that's basically the same...I have been through w/d too many times to go through it with these bad boys.
Avatar f tn t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Suzanne, Happy Birthday! I too often wonder how I got old so fast.lol Time flies I guess. I will check out that website. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally. Are you still working as an RN?
Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar m tn 100 mcg is roughly equivalent to 1 grain of desiccated. So, 162 mcg converts to about 1.62 grains. However, keep in mind that these are not really equivalents...they are very different meds. So, the equivalency is more of a place to start when switching. You probably want to start out on the low side if you're not used to taking T3, especially if your FT3 is "elevated", which I assume means higher than you normally like it???
Avatar f tn You use it to convert your fentanyl dosage to an equivalent morphine dose, and then find the equivalent morphine dose to oxymorphone, Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another. You can find equal analgesic tables, and apps for calculating equivalent dosing online.
Avatar n tn m 40 years old and recently found out that I also have osteo penia in one of the vertabrae in my lower back and my doctor wants me to take Actonel...however, those bone density medications can really exacerbate the reflux problems.
640719 tn?1277140030 5 mg would be roughly equivalent to 50 mcg. However, bear in mind that the two are not really equivalent since T3 and T4 are very different. The chart only offers a place to start, and your starting dose should take that into account along with other factors, like your typical drug tolerance and the fact that T3 sometimes takes a little getting used to. So, your overall dose will be a little on the low side, but I don't think it's an unreasonable place to start.
Avatar m tn Is it possible to have an equivalent test result when you have not been exposed to the herpes infection? Can a virgin have an equivalent test result?
Avatar n tn Coming from a non-eye care professional, my advice would be not to have limbal relaxing incisions. With only .5D of astigmatism, your spherical equivalent would be +1.25D (as opposed to your current +.75D). I tried to explain why in recent posts to Capes55 but didn't do a great job. I know that your near/intermediate vision is very blurry at +.75D, but it's pretty blurry at plano, too.
974371 tn?1424653129 Thank you for the response. I think I have had about every GI test done. Who checks hormonal endocrine imbalances. Metabolic issues, etc? I have had 4 thyroid nodule biopsies done now. I do have severe Osteoporosis and a new Internist I am going to has ordered a new bone density test. I have been having bad neck, low back and hip pain. I don't think my Endo doctor has been following up on that like she should but I won't take Actonel or Fosomax.
Avatar n tn Is Seroquel XR 50mg 2tabs 2x a day the equivalent of Seroquel 100mg 2x a day?
