Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar n tn s Day) had stated that according to statistics, women who take certain acid reflux medications and proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec, Prevacid and Zantac have a 40% higher risk of bone breakage later in life. That was scary for me to hear. Nearly 10 years on Prevacid and it may have caused the bone problems....just great. What it came down to was choosing for me.

720656 tn?1311040235 You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.
Avatar n tn I have started mega doses of supplements and calcium and D and excercise and I want someone to tell me that that has worked for them. Most comments I get is to take the drug because it's more effective. I can't believe everyone is taking bisphosphonates or other drugs like that. Please let me hear from you if you see this!,,, Thanks, and hope you are doing well!

Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.
Avatar f tn t believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Reflux is also a factor in the development of or worsening of asthma so that the cough may then be on the basis of both reflux and asthma. Treatment of reflux can often cure or at least diminish cough, but be aware that even when the anti-reflux treatment is effective, it may take a couple of months to experience the benefit.

Avatar n tn So that leads me to believe it must be stomach related, I had a biopsy done about 2 yrs ago and it was fine, but esophagus was red and sore. On a new med now for reflux, seems to be working but sometimes still I get that thud after eating. If I stay on a liquid only day, no reflux and no thuds at all. At SelmaS, what could post nasal drip do to cause thos sensation? Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I have been having so much pain in my actual stomach like under sternum that radiates to my back, kind of like a burning, it is incredibly uncomfortable just sitting here.. worse wit eating and even drinking water... I had a positive prego test and there is more to that story.. but the question right now is .... at like 5-6 weeks can the GERD/reflux be this bad due to pregnancy? I also posted on the gastroenterology forum to see if somebody there experienced this...
Avatar n tn Is anyone familiar with eosinophilic esophagitis? I have severe reflux and a hiatal hernia--I refuse to take the PPi's--I worry that I won't digest my foods properly or that my medications won't work. My surgeon suggested a fundo years ago--wish I had done it. I have trouble swallowing food---sometimes it gets stuck, which is very painful. I have had my esophagus dilated 3 times and I need it again. the last scope and dilation showed a lot of eosinophils.
1391312 tn?1421086993 People on HCV antiviral therapy often use one of the PPI drugs like Prilosec to manage reflux/GERD, Sly. Do you use this already, and dos it give you relief? If you’re treating and use tums or something similar, it might be a good idea to avoid taking it at the same time as the ribavirin.

Avatar f tn HI and welcome to the forum. I do not like to assume, but by Flax oil do u mean Flax Sed Oil...if so it is not the source of ur acid reflux...in fact it is a suggested oil to use on salads to help clam the irritated hiatal hernia and esphopagus. Did ur dr so ne tests to see what the root cause of ur acid was? Was it a GI dr? Along with the meds, lifestyle changes like avoiding certain foods and not eating prior to lying down...ect will help.
