Avatar m tn my original mid line (position of #9 and #8) is good. about one week ago I found out my #9 and #8 moving towards #10 space and the mid line is off. I am very worried. how could mid line to its optimal position garantteed? when orthodontics put braces /arch wire on, how he adjust it to bring patient's #8 #9 to their optimal position? I tried to talk with my orthodontist, but he seems don't think mid line is off... which make me even more concerned....
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.

746512 tn?1388807580 Wow, somedays I want to run out on the streets and scream--IT'S NOT YOUR BITE THAT CAUSES TMJ PROBLEMS, IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND. My profession is unfortunately stuck in the dark ages on this one. I have literally successfully treated hundreds of patients that had previous orthodontics and jaw surgery (not the TMjoint) to 'solve' their TMJ issues (and it didn't). I don't walk on water--can barely swim, but I've learned to improve on my past failures.
Avatar m tn ve had this permanent onlay for 3 years in a molar, and it just popped out when I was flossing. I have good dental health, but had orthodontics on and off in the mean time [there was a metal ring around that molar]. Could this have weakened the onlay? How should I approach my dentist? I am mad that their work didn't last, and wonder if their repair will. I'm also wondering if they give a price break on the repair vs. going to a new dentist for the repair.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with TMJ in June 2010, and was made a custom night guard that I wear when I'm sleeping. My doctor said I had a pretty sever case.. meaning a 9/10 (if 10 was the worst). I've stayed away from chewy foods, and have really tried to limit my jaw movement, but my jaw is still popping (really loudly, to the point if I'm eating or talking, people will hear... especially in the morning) and still hurting.
Avatar f tn They will provide dental implants, invisalign, orthodontics treatments and many more.
Avatar f tn For people with severe cases like bad bites, jaw bone abnormalities, and malocclusion etc. there are many options regarding treatments are available. But orthodontics surgery is also a good option for them. Before considering surgery, the patient should be known regarding the after effects and complications that can occur. An orthodontist will help them about the concept.
Avatar n tn I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal to last upper molar and also molar next to it (this canal was done through a crown and endo went into tooth twice). Since then, I have had toothaches on and off. When I get the ache, the doc puts me on antibiotics. I have had 3 rounds of PenVK and am now on amoxicillin. I get better on the antibiotics, but then about a week after I finish them, the pain returns, so I'm put back on. How many rounds of antibiotics is okay?
Avatar n tn One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar n tn As another adult orthodontia patient I can tell you that it will take a while for exactly the reasons stated above... your teeth and ligaments have been where they are for a long time, and it will take a while for them to start loosening up and moving back into place. The best advice you can get is to try to be patient, and do talk to your orthodontist if you really don't think enough progress is being made.
Avatar n tn HIV is a fragile virus in air or saliva and is effectively instantly dead in either air or saliva so the worst that could happen is dead virus rubbed you, and obviously anything which is dead cannot live again so you are good. Blood and cuts would not be relevant in your situation since the hiv has become effectively dead, so you don't have to worry about them to be sure that you are safe. There is no reason for a person to test when they are safe.
Avatar f tn It was discovered incidentally a little over a year ago that I had four teeth with external root reabsorption. I have never had an injury or orthodontics and I have very healthy teeth with no dental work. I went back after having four implants and during routine follow-up they found that another tooth was affected. Another implant was placed and when I went back to get my stitches out they found two more teeth, I am up to 8 teeth now with no known cause.
Avatar n tn Anyway, I will see an orthodontist soon, and I am wondering what options I have. IS 30% + bone loss too substantial for orthodontics? Can bone and gum grafts repair the regression. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
902263 tn?1245214553 I must agree with TMJDoc. Surgery and orthodontics are the last resorts you want to consider. As Dana821 mentioned if you you want to wear a splint for the rest of your life after those procedures and considering the possible nerve damages, maybe that would be a good solution. You have to understand that TMJ is just part of a triad system, muscles, joint and teeth. If those tree are not working in harmony it does not matter what technique you are using.
Avatar m tn I saw my dentist today and he will recommend my wisdom teeth to be removed but said I am still very high risk and the oral surgeon may not do it. He mentioned orthodontics again but that would be out of pocket and may not completely solve the issue with my wisdoms. Researching oral nerve damage scares the living daylights out of me but so does out of pocket braces with a chance that the issues my not be solved. Thoughts???
Avatar n tn This came from Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry: "Mouth jewelry can injure your child’s gums and teeth. Your child’s gums may be injured or recede (move away form your teeth) if they are in constant contact with the jewelry. Having an object in the mouth all of the time increases the production of saliva. This can contribute to tooth and gum decay. Additionally, the jewelry can cause cracked teeth and damage fillings, crowns, and orthodontics.
Avatar f tn i am a student at the university of leeds. I study product design and for my final project i am designing a pill dispenser. would anyone feel comfortable answering a questionnaire i have designed towards people who take regular medication?
Avatar n tn In my case I had full upper and lower braces for just over 18 months (now with bonded retainers top and bottom) and I paid about 6,000 for the full course. My advice....most orthodontists now provide free consultations....go to several of them and see what treatment options each suggests...you might be surprised at how much they differ. When I was exploring getting braces, I went to 3 consultations. The first orthodontist wanted to use a jaw expander for 6 months, then braces.
Avatar m tn I made appointments with other orthodontics and some oral surgeons but have not had any luck. Its had me really depressed. He also left the braces on 8 years and it damaged my teeth I need full mouth implants and cant afford it. My left side of my palate is wider than the right side. The right side has a knot on my palate from where the arm of the expander cut into it. I tried sueing him but its hard finding a lawyer.
Avatar n tn I have been a pediatric dental assistant for 8 years and have seen lots of cross bites. The dentist I work for now likes to see if the bite corrects it self when the permanent teeth erupt. The older dentist in our practice likes to do them as soon as the patient is compliant. It also matters what kind of cross bite your child has. Is it a posterior or an anterior?
Avatar n tn So what if it is metal, the guy was just trying to help you. There are two types of mouth props, one is rubber and the other loks like scissors and it is metal.
