gerd with hoarse voice from swollen larynx and vocal cords , dry hoarse cough , etc . ...... i did a course of aciphex for 3 mos ...... then was put on ranitadine (zantac) and slowly weened off that . my gerd cleared up , i healed up completely and i felt great .....no side effects . u should ask ur doc about aciphex ....... i tried everything and aciphex is the best ....... let me know what happens ....

I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.

I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?

My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.

I drink one, occasionally two, cups of coffee or tea each day. A caffein-free soda perhaps every-other day. I otherwise eat a low fat diet, and drink plenty of water. Breakfast is generally cold cereal, occasionally fried eggs. Lunch is soup and a PB&J sandwich, or simply a cold-cuts and cheese on rye. Dinner is a protein (mostly chicken, occasionally beef, pork, fish or tofu, or beans), two veggies, and a starch.

Please could you tell me if using OTC Unisom (12mgs Doxylamine Succinate) to help sleep (have severe insomnia for decades now) - could this lead to the severe hyper acidity I have? I take Nexium 40mg's twice a day, sometimes even three but it does not seem to help. Gastro-scope showed no signs of an ulcer just a very severe inflammation. Family Dr says Unisom or other anti-histamines cannot cause gastric problems. I read differently on the internet and am very confused now.

Inappropriate intake of PPI results in failure of treatment - The PPI should be taken twice a day. The first dose before breakfast and the second one before dinner. It should be taken before meals 2. Different people respond differently to the PPI. People who do not respond to one PPI may respond to another PPI 3. Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.

During that time I developed acid reflux that was very bad, even though I was already taking 20 mg of Prilosec twice a day. I changed meds to Armour in order to have a source of T3 that I needed to increase my FT3 level. In just two days the acid reflux was gone. I even stopped the Prilosec for several days just to see if it came back and it did not.

I was on it 2 times a day for 2 months. It didn't do anything for me, either. But then again, I'm not having much luck with any of them. I've now been on Aciphex for 1 month and it hasn't solved the problem yet. It does make you burp more.

You must follow the directions on the prescription or the OTC package. I don't know that medication, but you must follow the directions on the package or the directions your doctor gave you. If he said to just take it but didn't say anything more and this is OTC, follow the directions on the package. If he had other directions, call his office and get clarification of the directions over the phone.

They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!

I am a 31 year old female who has a history of GERD. I was previously taking aciphex and monitoring my diet. I was taken off medication aprox 2 years ago as I was no longer having any symptoms. In the last few years I have had some symptoms but they have not been reoccuring and I have been able to manage these symptoms. Over the last ten days I have suddenly developed severe symptoms of GERD. I have been vomitting acid and food all day every day.

I have been taking Aciphex for a couple years with good results. However I recently had a sinus infection and took Amoxicillin for 7 days. Here it is, 2 weeks after stopping the Amoxicillin, I am having severe heartburn again. Did the antibiotic have anything to do with this?

I've taken Aciphex for over 10 years for extreme GERD. Since all the new studues came out about it being so bad long term, I decided to try and get off it. I'm down from 20mg a day to 20mg every 3-4 days. I've weaned over the last 2 months, had horrible rebound and can't get passed this stage. I have bad stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea. I'm supplementing with Tums currently. Any helpful advice is appreciated. I'm ready to give up.

No joint stiffness, no fluid retention, no urinary urgency, normal blood sugars, higher energy, no bloating, no sugar or carb craving(after 2-3 weeks) and no sick feeling after meals. I went to 5 or 6 small meals per day, using a soy-based supplement drink called Ultrameal twice a day to make it more simple and assure some balanced nutrition. I gradually decreased my grain intake because I felt better when I did. I kept a food journal to identify unforseen problems.

Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign. Gastro changed me to aciphex once a day and reglan at night. This was 4 days ago....eating a little better but still have some bouts with nausea....will it take time for the new meds to work? Or could something else be going on to cause this....*by the wayk, i also had an ultra sound of abdominal area - all normal.

For over four weeks now, I have been having almost constant nausea. It's an odd feeling because it's in my stomach, but I can also feel it in my chest and throat. If I cough, my gag reflex goes crazy. I've only thrown up twice, and both times it was from coughing. When I first eat, I feel good for a while, but then the feeling comes again. About 3 1/2 years ago, I was having problems with anemia (from heavy menstrual flow due to fibroids) and acid reflux.

My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?

Does the regular Seroquel have to be taken twice a day? I take my morning dose and cannot stay awake; it's getting frustrating. If have I have to take it twice a day, does the drowsiness in the morning wear off after awhile?
