Aciphex prescription assistance

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex prescription assistance

aciphex

Avatar n tn I have been on Aciphex 20 since 2007, with instant results. After changing Health Ins. , I am told by the current insurer that they won't cover Aciphex. I must go thru a step program, starting with Nexium, which my Doctor dosed at 40 mg instead of 20 mg, saying Nexium didn't come in 20 and the 40mg of Nexium is comparable to the 20 mg Aciphex . Questions: (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two.

Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.

193988 tn?1215023883 re cancerous. Luckily, prescription meds (aciphex) have made all the difference in his condition and he can now eat normally again. A reflux diet mostly involves avoiding acidic foods and beverages like alcohol, caffeine, tomato products and spicy foods. Because reflux is often worse when a person is lying down, avoid eating two hours before going to bed. In serious cases of GERD, over the counter meds won't help.
Avatar m tn t working, take 2 of them or get a prescription for protonix or a stronger version of Nexium, aciphex, or lansoprazole. Protonix is really good. If it does not relieve your symptoms, get a GI consult and ask them to do an endoscopy if indicated. It could be a hiatal hernia, but its a stretch. Id bet GERD 99%.
Avatar f tn I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.
1974758 tn?1330821166 Has anyone had to apply for merck patient assistance? I have 4 weeks supply on hand but 10 left on tx. Our insurance runs out this month..trying to get all I can done before then, thank goodness for leap year! Btw our cobra would be $1700 a month for our family. Not that we could afford that! My question is, has anyone had experience with the Merck rx assistance? Does it take long or work on a pay scale? Would they really provide me with thousands of $ of meds no cost?
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar n tn The injectible MS meds, as well as the new oral meds, are very, very expensive, but most do have good financial assistance, if you qualify (and each pharma company has different rules for assistance). So, there's lots of homework to do. Good luck. Ask if you have more questions.
Avatar m tn Tell them what happened, what your Notidication letter said, AND that you are still on tx (maybe start with that), and ask what you need to do to get approved for their assistance. If you meet their income requirements and furnish the info they want, you should be able to get the meds free, or with at least no more than a $30 co-pay. Also, panfoundation.org is available to help supplement what isn't covered. Call Gileas My Support Path at 1-855-7-MYPATH (1-855-769-7284).
Avatar m tn could anyone give me ideas as to where or who i would contact to get some patient assistance for acute hep c treatment? I am not working, cannot wait on s.s. disability. I try to do some construction work when available, but it is really rough.
Avatar m tn Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar n tn Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
1046633 tn?1253698728 The doctor completed his portion and I received a letter today from the manufacturer that this is not one of the drugs they offer on the Patient Assistance Program. Has anyone else received assistance with getting this type of medication? What was the process that you used to obtain assistance?
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
119341 tn?1232563757 I take Aciphex daily to control bile reflux and no one ever told me to wait 4 hours after taking my synthroid. It doesn't say anything on the insert that comes with the prescription either. It only says to wait 4 hrs before taking calcium supplements. Is there something out there somewhere that lists all this stuff? I've just been going by the instructions that come with my med and what little bit my PCP has told me.
Avatar f tn As reported in the September 26, 2006 electronic edition of Gut, researchers conducted a study to determine the rate of hepatitis C treatment prescription and predictors of treatment in a large cohort of U.S. veterans. They used the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Patient Care Database to identify all HCV-infected persons receiving care between 1999 and 2003.

Avatar f tn There simply are too many people with MS in need. Most MS assistance is preapproved, not after the fact. Even the drug company assistance works that way. If you have all ready filled a prescription they will not reimburse you. Alex The MSSA give assistance for MRIs and cooling vests.
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar m tn t in yet, but your local health department has prescription assistance programs that can get your meds free from the companies. Ours at the Health Dept is called the REACH PROGRAM. We also have a company here called GRADD- Green River Area District Development . The only difference in the 2 is that the Health Dept you have to see their doctor and at GRADD you can see any doctor. Both can get MOST Drugs not all. Both are income based.
Avatar m tn If you can’t afford the prescription drugs you need, you may be eligible for assistance programs offered by drugmakers, nonprofit groups, or state governments. Here's how they work. Patient Assistance Programs Run by Drug Companies To get the process started, you need to mail an application to the drug company along with information about your financial situation. You can usually download an application from the company’s web site.
198506 tn?1251156915 I was diagnosed with silent reflux on 2/6/08 and prescribed Aciphex. The ENT diagnosed the reflux through an endoscopy I think it's called...he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD.
Avatar f tn On a side note I too, have acid reflux and take aciphex. I had it before treatment though. Aciphex is pricey but the manufacturer has a rebate that keeps it down to about $25.00 a month. I sometimes feel like stuff is trying to sit in my throat and some foods are worse than others. I have a big deal with bran cereal now that I didn't have before treatment but I honestly am ok with that. Being free of hep c is awesome.
