Aciphex and weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Aciphex and weight loss

aciphex

Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar n tn Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
203342 tn?1328737207 I'm not familiar with Herbalife, but I think there might be some here who are. I keep some slimfast shakes (or store brand equivalent) in the fridge for those times when I don't have time for a regular meal - mostly breakfast, but I can't say I'd recommend them as the sole dietary intake. If you've been tested and find that some foods bother your stomach, I'd say just stay away from them and go for a plan that allows lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, etc.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.

397538 tn?1280799850 I have been vomiting on and off for 6 months. For a while, It was happening daily. I saw a GI doctor who did an Endoscopy and didn't see anything. He put me on Aciphex, which helped, but I still vomit and or gag atleast 1x a week. I am not pregnant. I do have type II diabetes and PCOS. Anyone else sturggling with this kind of situation?
238010 tn?1420406272 I had been taking Prevacid, then Aciphex then Dexilant, all heavy weight prescription drugs for reflux once, sometimes twice a day for years with HepC and little if any fibrosis. When you are treating I think you need to be careful from what I have heard (see post on the subject of other medications and treatment). This of course doesn't mean one doesn't make the necessary dietary changes as well as not eating within 4 hours of bedtime and elevating the head of the bed etc.
Avatar n tn I've recently been diagnosed with Fructose intollerance. Of course I am in denial and shock at the same time. My gastroenterologists' nurse called to give me the results and in the same conversation said she would send me info. and told me to talk to a diatician if I have questions and sent me on my way. Here's the thing....I started having 'symptoms' of bloating and constant burping about 3-4 months ago.
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar m tn loss of appetite, upper abdominal pain, weight loss and even nausea and vomiting. Diagnosis is usually done with CT scan of the abdomen, ERCP, pancreatic biopsy, endoscopic ultrasound as well as MRI of the abdomen. You may ask for a referral or seek second opinion from another gastroenterologist to ease any worries. Further evaluation and regular follow-up may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.
Avatar m tn Pain under right rib cage spreading to back (not always and not incapacitating), fatigue, a feeling of general malaise, complete loss of appetite, loss of weight (26 pounds in 2 and half months), on and off diarrhea and constipation, bloating, burping, terrible indigestion, itchy skin, and a feeling in my upper throat of tightness and that it could swell shut (this is now constant). Lately the pain has been going to my upper abdomen and left side as well.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.
198506 tn?1251156915 he threaded a fiber optic camera through my nostril and down my throat. He said my throat was swollen and red and that I had vocal cord nodules. I had no symptoms of GERD and went to the ENT because I had a near constant feeling of throat contriction. A previous Barrium swallow showed no GERD. Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar n tn I jus started taking aciphex and used to takn 2 40mg nexium a day, am I supose to take 4 aciphex a day being they are just 20mg?
Avatar f tn t rely on any blood tests which only test for general levels of Cobalamin and not Methylocobalamin and the lab ranges are far too low. Without intending to sound like a conspiracy theorist, PPIs are probably the 2nd highest grossing class of drugs with 10s of billions of dollars in annual sales, to patients, most of whom DO NOT need to take them!
Avatar n tn I had also lost between 5 and 10% of my body weight. My muscles in my upper body and gluts seemed to be disappearing, particularly my deltoids and shoulders. My usually low bp and pulse would skyrocket (resting 95-105 bpm, 145/85) and quickly decrease. After about a month the rubbery collar feeling began to disappear. About that same time, I noticed a easily visible peas-sized hard lump fixed to the midline of my trachea just above my collarbone. This is when I decided to go to my PCP.
213398 tn?1202670474 it could be acid reflux since it happens after eating. With a weight of 165 and 5'6" that's more than 20% greater than your ideal body weight and is technically overweight even if you don't feel or look heavy.
Avatar f tn I have for the past 10 years been on Aciphex 20mg for to much acid in my stomache, I was at 4 times the normal amount but now I have about 7 times to normal amount I have been taking 2 aciphex pills in the am and 1 in the evening. When I had my last scope I also had alot of irritation and alot of stomache polyps. I have latlely been having alot of diarreha about 2 hours after I eat and I'm generally not feeling well.
