Avatar f tn gov, both are trusted sites that show the different treatments used for ovarian cancer. I get a free booklet on ovarian cancer that I refer to all the time called The Patient Active Guide to Living With Ovarian Cancer that is very helpful, it is printed by www.thewellnesscommunity.org, their number is 1-888-793-WELL.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female. I was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in June 2008 and underwent surgery to remove it. It was the size of an apple and diagnosed a grade 2 tumor. It grew back in September 2008 and that's when i began rigorous radiation and oral chemotherapy (Temozolomide). My recent MRI has showed the regrowth of the tumor to be "gone." The plan is to take the Temozolomide for 2 years along with Accutane (which helps the oral chemotherapy work better).
Avatar f tn nodeid= There are not too many cancers that kill percentage wise as many people in a short time as ovarian cancer...I feel for anyone with cancer but I HAVE OVARIAN CANCER. I am sick of pink ribbons, sick of yellow bands and I will not and did not donate... I live in a foreign country and women here are not empowered or educated about ovarian cancer... Even here in Costa Rica you can buy PINK gardening tools... I educate every opportunity I get...my tatto works wonders that way....
Avatar m tn FSH measures ovarian reserve. Every woman is born with a finite amount of eggs and unfortunately there are no sure ways to control your fsh levels. Your sister may look for a high fsh friendly clinic or use an egg donor. Good luck!
Avatar m tn The products in question are Temodar (temozolomide) for brain cancer and hepatitis C and cancer drugs PegIntron (pegylated interferon alfa-2b) and Intron A (interferon alfa-2b), according to Merck's just-published quarterly report. All three of the drugs were acquired when Merck bought Schering-Plough in 2009.
Avatar f tn ------------------------------------------------ If you do not have health insurance, you can try to find a center that offers low-cost or free mammograms. Contact the National Cancer Institute (1-800-4-CANCER) or the American Cancer Society (1-800-ACS-2345) for assistance. Another option is the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (1-888-842-6355), which provides low-cost or free cancer screenings for women without health insurance.
Avatar n tn I am not trying to scare you but pain during intercourse was one of the symptoms I had prior to being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.......you need to follow this up and figure out what is going on. If your doctor is not a gyn I would suggest you see one....if she is I would push her to find out what is going on and maybe give you a referral to a gyn/oncologist. If surgery is in your future make absolutely certain you have a gyn/oncologist perform it for you.
Avatar n tn Most ovarian cysts and masses are benign, even suspicious looking ones. If you do not have a family history or predisposition for ovarian cancer then your lifetime risk is less than 2%. And yes, the CA125 test is not accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer. Benign (non-cancerous) conditions can cause an elevated result. A friend of mine had a CA125 level over 1000 (VERY HIGH) when she had a benign cyst. She unnecessarily lost not only her ovary but also her uterus and other ovary.
Avatar n tn Paraovarian cysts arise from the tissues of the broad ligament, predominantly from mesothelium covering the peritoneum but also from paramesonephric and rarely mesonephric remnants (mesonephric cyst or Wolffian cyst). There are few types for this problem....
Avatar f tn what is the ovarian cancer percentage risk to me if I have left ovarian endometriotic cyst?
Avatar m tn I agree with the poster above, as cutting stands a better chance of spreading the cancer, you don't want the area disturbed. HIFU can kill/cook the cancer outside the gland as well as inside without disturbing anything, as there is no cutting, just a probe up the rectum for treatment. No HIFU doc will accept him unless they feel they can cure him as they don't want the bad statistics ~ being HIFU is so new.
Avatar n tn okay, i'm 15 years old and i've been diagnosed with an 'ovarian mass'. the mas is 18cm by 13cm. bigger than a freaking grapefruit, i know. -.- i go in tomorrow for an appointment with an oncologist. it's been two weeks since i was last at the hospital, and it's the fastest they could get me in. isn't it bad to just wait two extra weeks when something that huge could be growing inside you? anyway...
Avatar n tn Your ovarian cancer risk is increased if your mother, sister, or daughter has (or has had) ovarian cancer. The younger your relative was when she developed ovarian cancer, the higher your risk. The risk also gets higher the more relatives you have with ovarian cancer. Increased risk for ovarian cancer does not have to come from your mother's side of the family - it can also come from your father's side.
Avatar f tn I know my pain is real and that something is causing this pain. Ovarian cancer runs in my family thats why Iam so concern abt that and fatty liver may be the cause. We still didn't get the results from the liver function test....I am muslim and don't drink at all, diet is always good and so why do I hate fatty liver? I am not obese or extremely overweight...at the most 10lbs over which is average but overweight.
1077580 tn?1255870831 my mom has ovarian cancer at stage 4, and she has asthma too.doctors suggested surgery and when she was opened for surgery, the doctors cam to know that it had become so complicated that it could not be removed.she been stiched.we have lost all hopes.cancer has involved other organs too.it iz impossible to remove.she has good health. should we go for chemo?
Avatar f tn There are different tumor types of ovarian cancer. Mine is mucinous ovarian cancer. It usual shows up in women in their ealy 40s to 50, most commonly. I am 47. I think average age is higher for other types of ovarian cancer. At your age ovarian cancer is extremely rare. My advice to you is just to take good care of yourself. Get your annual gyn exams and pap smears. They don't show ovarian cancer, but they are important. Don't worry so much. Just enjoy your precious life.
Avatar f tn I am still feeling scared that I have ovarian cancer. Should I trust my doctor which says he is sure it is not?(I have been to another female gynecologist that said the same thing). Thanks for any answers from someone with experience.
Avatar f tn If my CA-125 test level reads 135, is there a likelihood that I have ovarian cancer. I have a 10cm cyst that has not changed size since the first ultrasound. I also have an enlarged uterus and multiple fiberoids, could this have influenced the CA-125 levels? I am 55 years old and have had 2 children and breast fed both?
Avatar n tn what can cause ovarian cancer? can hormone for menopause cause it,? any headache medication?
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes it is possible to have ovarian cancer without a cyst or mass , especially if it is early ovarian cancer. I would definately go and see this other doctor and tell him all of your symptoms and maybe get a ca125 blood test and a ct scan. If you feel really unwell then the reason has to be found as to why your feeling like that . Hope everything goes ok and let us know what happens.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cancer has many symptoms that may be hard to recognise. Because the symptoms of ovarian cancer may be similar to polycystic ovaries, or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Avatar m tn Does having a ca125 level of 55 mean you have ovarian cancer. The doctor said I have endometriosis and that can make it rise.
