Zofran and heartburn

Common Questions and Answers about Zofran and heartburn

zofran

For me fun helped me a lot. After I eat I chew gum and that helped me. I used to get heartburn even just drinking water!
I still can't drink anything even on that. So, I went to the dr. yesterday and she said she would give me Zofran. She said it is very safe. It is actually a anti-nausea drug for chemotherapy patients, but pregnant wome have used it for awhile now, I guess. I was nervous to take it, but I did take one this morning and I feel a little better. It is still too early to tell. My dr. said it is some women's "miracle pill" and then there are some women it doesn't seem to help.
I had zantac first and it didn't help and so I got zofran and now that's not helping it ***** because my chest feels like its on fire
Tums worked for me. They're safe during pregnancy so I'd pop em every time I got heartburn. And my doctor told me that eating less amounts in one sitting and more often throughout the day-6 times or so rather than 3-helps. It was hard for me to follow that guideline bc let's face it, I was pregnant and I'd just splurge lol... hope this helps. I'm sorry... heartburn *****:( my little guy is 4 wks old and has acid reflux and is just miserable:( I feel sooo bad!
i took zofran all through this last pregnancy (from about 13wks until delivery at 36wks). no problems with me or the baby because of it. it's better for you to take the med and be able to eat because the baby needs it. i never had any side effects from it, and my little girl had no extra problems from it. good luck to you and your little one.
This is my second child and I'm 36weeks and have the worlds worst heartburn! There are time I'm afraid to cough or burp in fear I will vomit because its so baf. I've tried sitting up, walking around, laying down, drinking water, eating crackers or toast, tums, zofran that my ob prescribed nothing has helped.
I was prescribed Zofran for my extreme nausea that I have been having for over 4 weeks and when taking it for one day, I felt extremely better. On the flip side, I would like to know if anyone has experienced severe headaches, itchiness, or heartburn after taking this medication? I have and I am wondering if its just me or if anyone else has experienced this. I am 11 weeks and 4 days.
feel constantly hot and want to remove layers of clothing want cool drinks look hot and bothered and red-faced feel irritable and hot tempered Try sipping peppermint or spearmint tea. Sugar-free peppermint sweets or chewing gum may also help. Peppermint or spearmint essential oil will not suit everyone, as the strong smell could make you feel more sick. Herbal remedies Other herbal remedies worth trying include lemon balm tea, slippery elm lozenges, or small amounts of chamomile tea.
Put her on zofran!!! took 1 pill at 4 pm yesterday and today has a rash on her chest and neck. Feels very tired and wants to sleep. Dr said give her Benadryl for rash. has not ran a fever/ I don't understand what is going on and dr said it is the stomach flu.
I guess I should count my blessings since it isn't every day but agghhhhhh it is so GROSS. I was also wandering if anyone has heartburn. I have it all day and all night and I am even getting to the point where I am bringing up a bit of sick - sorry if tmi.
I have tried promethizine and Zofran and neither have helped. I have had an IV and take benedryl and even though the doctor says it's fine, i feel guilty for taking it anyway. I just get so miserable and sick that I become desperate. I seem to get worse in the evenings. I vomit until it's just stomach acid coming up. I will still be vomiting at 10 at night just praying to fall asleep. I am eleven weeks and praying that another week or so of this and then I'll turn a corner.
I even waited out the m/s, but maybe I should have taken the zofran. Have heard wonderful things about it and the gals that get it seem really well. I tried sea bands and they helped a lot with my first one, like the above poster, it didn't stop the m/s but made it managable. My second one that ended in m/c and my third one that was successful the bands did not help at all. Talk to your Dr. before you try any otc medications and just keep something in your tummy.
and severe pain that will precede a flare of the regurgitation, but sometimes these will subside without going into the regurgitation flare. The regurgitation is completely unresponsive to Phrengren and Zofran. An endoscopy done at the beginning of all this showed some eosinophills in her stomach, but an endoscopy done a few weeks ago didn't show any eosinophills. No barium study or other tests (other than the two endoscopies) have been done.

I have stopped drinking all types of soda, and have been drinking different kinds of juice and lots of ice water (I'm trying different things to stop this constant heartburn I have, the only thing so far that doesn't give me heartburn is Apple Juice). This last week, I have ate dinner between 6p-7p, but I still get sick. Anyone have any suggestions? I just want to eat for me and the baby....
they have him on Nexium twice a day (morning and night), reglan and zofran when he needs it but they don't work, he has lost about 5 lbs in the last month. In the last month and a half there have been days here and there where he looks like nothing is wrong and is able to eat and wakes up fine but then the next day or 2 days later it comes back, I think the nexium is somewhat helping but he still wakes up nauseas and dizzy, the vomiting has subsided for last 2 days but has not gone away.
I'm there with you. I always feel full, slightly nauseated, with loose stools. I'm worried I'm not eating enough but I'm still gaining weight! Not sure what's going on down there but I think she is doing cartwheels. I also have "stabbing" pains in my groin, Nasal stuffiness, postnasal drip and heartburn. I don't think it is a sign of oncoming labor, I think it is normal for some pregnancies. What is confusing to me is that last last 2 pregnancies (9 and 12 years ago) I felt wonderful!
Nose bleeds HEARTBURN and diarrhea. Nose bleeds and diarrhea since day one and this horrible heartburn started around 20 weeks.
My breasts still hurt off and on and I get heartburn in the evenings. With my last two babies I was so deathly ill for weeks and I just can't believe how different things are this time. My OB even gave me a script for zofran because I get such horrible morning sickness. It makes me nervous, but then I just remind myself that every pregnancy is different. I'm lucky this time! My next appointment is in 3 1/2 weeks and I'll be 12 weeks.
Ginger root helps sometimes (they have capsules) but causes heartburn sometimes too. I took Zofran and I was great. No where near as much nausea and it doesn't make you drowsy like Phenergan does.
Maybe it's the way the baby is laying. I experience it sometimes, and I am on heartburn meds and zofran as well. I know its suggested you lay on your left side, but you can lay on your right side as well, if it helps. Also, sometimes I get nauseous when I have constipation, if thats the problem maybe talk to a doctor about it, they can help. If you enjoy yogurt, activia is the bomb to help regulate your digestve tract.
morning sickness' then it was severe acid refulx and heartburn. I was prescribed something called reglan. It seemed to help. Good luck!
