Zegerid long term

Common Questions and Answers about Zegerid long term

prilosec

Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar f tn Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
709686 tn?1277432159 I took 20mg of Omekproazole (Prylosec) for a long time, maybe twenty years (how long has it been on the market?). I started getting sore gums, and my voice started becoming hoarse and other symptoms, and it was determined I had a bigtime GERD issue, much more pronounced than I earlier experienced. Tests confirmed my vocal cords were burned, my gums were affected like yours and I started losing enamel from my teeth.
Avatar f tn Well I told him I thought maybe it was my gallbladder so he sent me for a ultrasound (which came back fine no visabal stones) and in the meantime he gave me Zegerid for the burning. It helped and in three days I was fine so I stopped it. I went back and told him the pain was easing up and that I had stopped the Zegerid so he said ok and if it did come back to take prilosec. Pain did come back so I took it for 12 days and had major reactions to it. So I again stopped.
913937 tn?1243013191 It started relatively soon after I had my gall bladder taken out. I have been seeing a gastroenterologist for the entire term and recently the severity of the gasteoparesis has worsened. I have had 3 gastric emptying tests, 2 endoscopies and recently have been put on medication. Zegerid for GERD is a miracle drug for me for acid reflux. However, it doesn't do anything for the vomitting. I have tried reglan, erythromyacin, and just received a RX for Domperidon yesterday.
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
417274 tn?1202937034 My question is how long until the Zegerid they switched me to will stop working too? I have also been taking Zantac the entire time as well. I have already been tried on all the others and they just don't work, so unless something new comes out and my trend continues, my fear is that I'll be sunk with chronic issues that just won't heal.
Avatar f tn I have been on various meds for GERD for a long time, but it was getting worse over the past year. Now two Zegerid daily. I had a cervical MRI, but only on 1.5T, that came back normal. If I ever hear anything, I'll ask about thoracic MRI on 3T. Sounds like there may not be a 3T machine nearby, though. I had a L-4/L5 fusion about six years ago which made getting the lp interesting. The doctor was so good--it was with floroscopy (sp?). I laid on my stomach with a pillow underneath.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my GERD for 3 years with Zegerid. For the first 2 years it was my "miracle drug". About a year ago I began having what I called reflux "attacks" again, usually in the middle of the night. They would last anywhere up to 4 hours, during which all I could do was pace the floor and pray for relief. I averaged one attack a month; finally decided to revisit my gastroenterologist.
1746242 tn?1318209702 I get that and to me it feels like a tight, gripping feeling. I don't know if it related to any kind of acid reflux but I do know when I take a Zegerid in the morning it doesn't happen. The confusing thing is I have a pretty bland diet these days so it's not like I am eating super hot & spicy food. And you can be sure nothing high in fat! Zegerid is a proton pump inhibitor so it or any H2 Blocker you have in your medicine cabinet might help.
Avatar f tn I had physical symptoms that sound similar to yours!!! I ended up with a hole in my septum but no other long term effects. I would try not to worry too much until you see the ENT! Its great that you have stopped for a month now! Have your physical symptoms gotten any better now that you arent using? Stay off of it now that you have a month!!! Its a dangerous drug that psychologically just wants to keep pilling you back in!! Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on!!!
7163794 tn?1457366813 myself to get up? Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use? Could it just be me? Has anyone else felt this?
214255 tn?1205635636 My doc suggests that according to studies, long term use at a stable level, followed by long term taper has the lowest relapse rates. So with me he has me on the same dose as the beginning and we will start to taper 1mg per month for 16 months. The positive thing about doing it this way is that I have been able to work a strong NA/AA program and that likely will give me enough tools over time to handle the taper and emotional stuff by then.
Avatar n tn pill to start and then 1/4 of a pill every other day and see how he acts on it. He is saying to keep him on it long term with the 1/4 of a 5 mg every other day if it looks like it agrees with him and makes him feal better. Is this a good idea or will it cause any long term health problems?? My vet says it wont at such a small dose. What do you think . Would realy like a second opinion. Should I just give him small bit of aspirin at times ?
Avatar n tn What is the long term effects from being on Paxil, say ten to twenty years. Has there ever been a study?
