yeast infections while on the pill

The only connection I could see is if you have sex without a condom, you could end up with more infections, and if taking the pill means you have sex more often you could end up with yeast infections, which sometimes are caused by sexual intercourse. But I don't know of any mechanism by which the pill by itself would cause bacterial or yeast infections.

I am quite prone to yeast infections, so what I do is take an AZO yeast pill and eat some yogurt every day. If you have been on antibiotics that would do it. The antibiotics kill all bacteria (even the good ones) and that is why we are more likely to get a yeast infection after being on antibiotics.

Are you on the pill? I used to have chronic yeast infections for years in my early twenties. Like you, I followed my doctor's advice and was very careful but nothing helped until I stopped taking the pill (it has something to do with the artificial estrogen). So if that could be the reason, you might want to talk to your doctor about alternative methods of contraception.

Seven months ago my boyfriend and I began having sex, and about two weeks later I started my period but noticed that I was having major pain and itching internally and externally towards the end of my period. I went to the OB/GYN and I did have a yeast infection for the first time ever. I wasn't on any birth control, nor taking any antibiotics, not pregnant, and the pap came back normal with no diseases.

The first 2 times I took the diflucan pill (one time pill) n the last time I was told I can go get the over the counter monistat 7. The only time I ever get them is when I'm pregnant and by me having twins this time i have an overload of hormones surging through my body...I've had so many pregnancy symptoms...

I am on ortho tri cyclen lo and am also prone to yeast infections. I want to try Azo Yeast to help control it. Will Azo interact with the pill?

I did... my first pregnancy i had a lot of yeast infections... they gave me the cream for seven days and also the pill but that was only for one day..

they will prescribe you something safe for baby. Sometimes yeast infections can mimic bv, a common bacterial infection in pregnancy.

In my experience, the over the counter creams do not work for me but I am extremely sensitive to medications. I alwasy call my doctor and she'll call in a script for me. But, I think Diflucan is the only oral medication (at least it's the only oral medication I've ever heard of for yeast infections).

Of course, I went to a Gyno to check up and got a pill that got rid of my infection. Sadly, my yeast infection came back! Not only once but a few more times after that! I've gone to the store and picked up some Monistat which worked, but my yeast infection continued to come back. I'd like some advice on what I could do to stop this from happening. Men can get yeast infections but show no signs of it. It is usually the woman who becomes the victim of this. Everytime my husband takes antibiotics, he gives me a yeast. And everytime I take certain antibiotics, I get it too. The doctor tells us that using Lamisil for jock itch is an anti fungal and can be used by my husband to treat it. while I use the pill and monostat. but we cant have any sex whatsoever until we are both treated completely.

I did just go to the store and pick up some monistat. The 7 day one works better than the 3 day or 1 day.

is the birth control the cause of the yeast infections? sometimes there is an itch and my discharge is usually white/clear. lately there has been an odor but i don't know how to deal with it. i have also taken monistat several times and it usually works. should i continue? i have one sex partner and we use condoms every time. could the lubrication of the condoms cause yeast infections too?

Here they used to give it to me because none of the over the counter stuff worked however in Canada they now have this as pill form on the shelf so it saves me a lot of time. What I would suggest as I have had chronic yeast infections since I was 15 I am 36 now. I went to see a naturopathic doctor and she gave me this herbal called Candacin and I was to take that daily I can't remember the dosage plus stop eating yeast, sugar and gluten for 3 months. You should see a difference.

They recomend eatting yogurt while on antibiotics. I use AZO yeast it's a pill form of acidophilus. You can get it at walmart right next to the creams and inserts. My OB said it was ok to take while pregnant. You might ask your Dr if you can use that. It takes a few days longer to cure.

Well ik its not from anything new i like to stick with what i know lol but when i did get swabbed on the 3rd she said i had a yeast infection i just wish it woild go away for good

This happened to me while I was on the pill occasionally, though since I have been off the pill it has gotten much worse. In any case, I am curious to see what you guys think. I am still betting this is HPV, because of those two itchy bumps. However, an individual told me that it is unlikely to be herpes as three weeks is a long time for a itchy spot to still be around down there.

I am not having sex though is it possible to get pregnant if my boyfriend has a pre-*** in the region of my clitoris? If it is possible are the chances less because I am on the pill? This is something that has been on my mind for a while so an answer would be much appreciated.

i knew it was antiviral..just thought they did they same thing in ur body to create the yeast infection..my doc gave me a antibiotic for a U.T.I. then i got a yeast infection. then i took the three day cream for that and a pill.,then i was starting to feel a tad bit better but i had another herpes break out so i had to take more antiviral and thus started up the bad feelings again down there..itching,burning and dryness. still not able to have sex,with my hubby..

The yoghurt works to sooth bacterial vaginosis while taking the meds too.

From what I have learnt, all yeast infections begin in the gut, so to get to the root cause of the problem you need to take a pro-biotic to redress the imbalance. I tried this once and, lo and behold , it WORKED! So while smearing cream on your nether regions may seem logical, it doesn't fix the root of the problem. Fix the gut, and the rest will sort itself out.
