Vyvanse is only approved for children aged 6-12. My son is 11 and is on this and it has been the best med that we have used. We have tried ritalin, concerta, adderall, and focalin. My son has done wonderful on vyvanse but again he is 11. My doctor stated that any child under 6 should not use this if you would like to see any results and it could harm them as well as any stimulant meds.

That is the same problem you are having. It is very weak for me now. I have to get my meds adjusted to 40mg. It is difficult for me to stay awake without a sufficient stimulant. So this is kind of a problem.

The truth is the chemistry in all of our brains vary. There is no remedy or cure that is garunteed results for everyone. I have tried Concerta the come downs were terrible. I took Vyvanse and I just didn't find myself concerned or interested in anything. I took Dexedrine and it's a miracle drug. Less amphetamines than adderall and a lot smoother especially if you experience anxiety attacks!

Vyvanse is not a good medicine for people with high blood pressure and you might talk with your doctor and see if there are alternatives. Beta blockers do antagonize the effects of vyvanse. Maybe a calcium channel blocker or an ACE inhibitor would be better--but first check and see if Vyvanse is a must for you.

On the drug test aspect, Vyvanse is out of your system exponentially faster than Adderall. The half life of V is 47 minutes compared to a half life of 9-14 hours for Adderall. Example for those unaware how half-lifes of drugs work. 2 subjects; 1 takes 30mg of V, other takes 30mg of Adderall at 12pm. A child without ADHD should react to even a slight amount of the stimulant being used. And vyvanse, I believe, is not a med that one has to take for awhile before it starts working. Hey I am worried about my sister! She is on Vyvanse right now at thiry mgs but does NOT take it daily. Her husband takes twenty mgs of Adderall daily, and sometimes she will take an adderall instead of a vyvanse. Is this safe??
