what is the difference between prevacid and zantac

I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.

Another PPI that worked for us is zegerid. It is a powder suspension that you mix with water. The only difference between zegerid and prevacid solutabs is that zegerid does NOT have to be timed around meals. Whereas the solutabs need to be given on an empty stomach. The prevacid solutabs ARE the ones you can dissolve and mix with water or applesauce. Read read read the marci-kids website. It explains how these medicines work WAY better than I ever could...

During the transition, there is a period where you continue the zantac while waiting for the prevacid to build up in the system. Then you wean off of zantac. We couldn't wean her off the zantac. On both, she was OK. As soon as we dropped the amount of zantac, there were horrible flair-ups. I cried along with the screaming baby. The pediatrician had never had a baby that didn't respond to the standard doses of these meds, so he referred us to a Gastro.

I have just started reading the connection between these issues and the vegas nerve. All the doctors want to do is heavy dose the prevacid, prilosec, nexium,etc. You name it. I've tried it. The water in the morning (at least a quart)and dropping down hard on my heels, for me really works the best. All i've heard about the surgery is 90% negative. What if i really had a heart attack one day. How could you tell the difference in symptoms?

I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore. I get terrible heartburn and I dont know what to do with myself because I take Zegerid EVERY DAY!! This is starting to seriously interfere with my life, and work. I can't do much when I get stomach pains. Why does the zegerid not work sometimes?

Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?

I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps. I went to the doctor and she thought it might be IBS but it doesnt happen unless i quit taking the prevacid for a couple of days!! Has anyone experienced this? If so, what did you do to stop it???

For the past week I've been dealing with horrible stomach burning and nausea. It feels like my stomach is on fire and it makes me incredibly nauseous. I've been taking zantac and tums but neither offer me much relief. I feel the worst after eating. But it doesn't matter what I eat...I try eating bland foods like noodle soup, saltines, bananas etc but I still feel awful. I sometimes feel hungry but still nauseated at the same time so I have no desire to eat.

When thinking about natural ways (or even unnatural ones) to reverse PVCs, it might be helpful to understand what is going on physiologically when PVCs occur, so that the proposed solutions make sense from the body's point of view. In other words, why would x, y, or z be likely to work?

m swinging back and forth between one OTC Prevacid in the morning and one at night one hour before dinner but it doesn't seem to be helping. Already tried Prilosec and that didn't help either. Taking Gaviscon tablets in between but they do absolutely NOTHING and I really don't know why I continue to take them. Ughhh....Anyone???

the only thing that ***** about the prevacid is that you gotta take 30 mins before breakfast and it makes you nauseous but it works all day long.. for sure talk to your doctor cause what they can prescribe works 20x better then what you get over the counter..

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.

, and hope to be able to get off that at some point soon. I think if the tendency to Afib is there, one med can make the difference. You are right, it can be a nightmare and I don't think the medical establishment is sensitive to that fact. So glad you are doing better.

everytime I eat I get heartburn.anybody gets heartburn all the time????? And what do you do to help relieve it ?

I take tums and just started some zantac. The zantac is a LIFESAVER!

Drink some milk as soon as you feel it coming on, never lay down straight after eating and figure out what foods brings it on im 30 weeks and have had it for three weeks now and nothing over the counter has worked for me only milk witch is weird but yeah try milk as soon as you feel it coming on

Hi DoxieMom, No I don't have a gallbladder it was removed in 1996, my Son was a few months old. The meds the Doc gave me really helped Dexilant a newer PPI and Zantac 150mg 2 X a day. The pictures he took when he scoped where the worst I've ever see my stomach, blistering bubbles, green liver bile, bright orange stomach color, not pink like it should be.

Tums is definately okay. I googled it and it said zantac was okay so Ive taken it like 3 times when my heartburn was really bad.

I am on Prevacid and Zantac now and have been for a couple of years for acid reflux during the night and it seemed to resolve itself although I am still on the drugs. thanks much.

I will talk to home about Prevacid and zantac. Oh and I can relate to feeling heavy at times too. Mostly when I'm in my feet for to long that's when I feel like an anchor to the ground lol.

t like the idea of having to take zantac, but it is seriously the only thing that is working now and lets me sleep through the night. I was waking up around 3am every night, literally choking on the acid that would come up into my throat and I even sleep a bit propped up because of it. I am miserable from it, but taking a zantac before I eat dinner every day, lasts through the night and gave me the relief I needed. I've only taken it 3 times now.
