What is the difference between lansoprazole and omeprazole

Common Questions and Answers about What is the difference between lansoprazole and omeprazole

Avatar n tn It is continual, all the time until I go to sleep and starts again as soon as I wake up. I have seen my GP who prescribed Omeprazole and the Lansoprazole but neither made any difference at all. I was referred to a Gastroenterologist and last week I had an upper digestive track gastroscopy which was normal and showed nothing untoward. This leaves me thinking this may be a psychological / nervous tick type issue. Can someone recommend any organisations, anything that night help?
Avatar f tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with gastritis back in January and I take between 30 and 60mg of lansoprazole daily (depending on how bad the symptoms are!). Ive suffered from chest pains on and off, sometimes severe enough to make me think I was having a heart attack!! I had an ECG which was fine and my gastroenterologist said it wasnt cardiac as the pain usually occurred whilst I was sitting and that if it was heart related it would get worse whilst I was exercising.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you drink some almond milk and see how you feel for a few days. The main ingredient in Tums is Calcium Citrate. And often excess acid is because of a lack of calcium in diet. Drink a cup of almond milk for two days and see how you feel.

Avatar f tn It is not all the time, mostly in the evenings. I do not know what is causing this but i wonder would it be the fact that an not eating much in the last two weeks. (I am not starving myself) i am just VERY VERY worried about something and can not eat. I am eating 1 meal every 1-2 days. Would not eating cause my symptoms?
Avatar f tn I work all over the country and the thought of a 3 hour drive with my unstable stomach is making it so hard for me to function at work.
Avatar f tn No, it is not like that. Omeprazole base is the active form. In prilosec OTC, it is given in the form of omeprazole magnesium. In the body it gets converted in to omeprazole base before it starts acting. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice. 1718846 tn?1309117171 Food intolerance and inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s, celiac etc should be considered. Log in what you eat and see if there is a correlation between a certain food type and the symptoms. You should consult a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) or a physician for this. Take care!

Avatar m tn I have taken omeprazole, esomaprazole, and i am currently taking lansoprazole 30mg. My question is do you think the breathlessness is caused by the gastritis or a side affect of the PPI's or something else? Thanks and by the way im in the USA.
Avatar f tn Hi Selma Thanks for your reply, I had a test for h pylori and it was negative, my main problem is the breathing, I cant tell whether its asthma or something else, I would have thought the lansoprazole and omeprazole would have cleared up the acid by now if it was that causing the asthma. I have been avoiding any foods that can cause reflux for a week now but the breathing seems to be getting worse.

Avatar f tn My best way to describe the baby movement (early movement) have you ever felt a gold fish swim in a bag of water?!?! That light swooshing is simular to the baby moving. Also when a fish pecks at the bag is simular to the kicks! I alway been able to feel the baby by laying on my belly (at this point of pregnancy it won't hurt baby)! If you lay on your belly and feel that fish movement you will know if it's gas or movement when you are not laying on your belly!
Avatar m tn Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
