Does the antibiotic macrobid used to treat uti's decrease the effectiveness of birth control? Because I'm on the pill and I shouldn't get my period for another week and I've been bleeding.. This makes me nervous because while taking macrobid I had sex without a condom, he pulled out, but I know that's not always a safe alternative either.
I know that during early pregnancy bleeding isn't uncommon. I'm scared out of my mind..

The only thing I was ever told I could take for it since I was pregnant was Macrobid. You should call your doctor tomorrow and ask about the Macrobid. Also try drinking cranberry juice, or if you can't stand it (i can't) try the OTC cranberry pills, they should help just the same as the juice. I forget exactly how its supposed to help but it does. Are you taking macrobid for a uri? I think what is also very often the case with what appears to be spotting during treatment is that the uti in itself can cause what appears to be spotting or a period. https://drhouse.com/can-a-uti-cause-bleeding-like-a-period/ In those cases, it's an inflammatory response. And it gets better when the uti is healed and enough time passes for normalization. The antibiotics kill off bacteria causing the uti which then reduces inflammation.
They shoulsnt have started me on an antibiotic until they knew what was going to work in the first place. Macrobid is for UNCOMPLICATED UTI's also, and the ER doctor told me that it was obviously a conplicated UTI because I had less than 100,000 count on my culture. Plus, I don't think its even a UTI. I've had costovertebral angle tenderness since all of this started, which IS NOT a sign or symptom of a UTI, its a s/sx of pyelonephritis.
I've had 3 uti's this pregnancy, therefore I have been put on macrobid for the remaining of my pregnancy. I have to take 1 every night until I deliver. Started @32 weeks am now 35+5. No problems from it yet. I haven't had any syptoms of uti so I would never known if it weren't for the urine soles at Dr. Office.
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... Hi Dr's I'm hoping you can answer some questions for me, I made the mistake of reading some forums and wonder if I may have contracted NGU which I have never heard of until reading these forums. I had what I would think was a non risk exposure experimenting with another male. He performed protected oral sex on me and also spit on the head of my penis when the condom wasn't on me and rubbed it in. From everything I have read this is a non risk exposure.
She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test. When reading the leaflet for the home pregnancy test it says antibiotics can effect the resulst so should i take the test or wait till the antibiotics are done.
I was out of town and felt the symptoms coming on decided to try and treat myself fluids, cranberry juice and Azo. When I got home 6 days later my symptoms were still present so I went to doctor. Urine culture was positive for E. Coli and entercoccus. I was put on Macrobid for 5 days didn’t help at all, was then switched to Cipro for 5 days. After 24hrs on Cipro all my symptoms went away. One week later my symptoms of a UTI retuned.
Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
If you have the similar symptoms what do you feel was the trigger? Other than the meds I cannot figure it out!!

I was on macrobid for a UTI at the time of collection (started on macrobid Saturday, had 4 doses by the time of collection on Monday morning, blood work as fasting so last dose taken before blood collection was over 12 hours previously). Does anyone know if macrobid affects eGFR or is this level an induction of possible kidney infection/disease/cancer?
My first urinalysis came up negative at the doctors but when sent out grew group b. She said it was small numbers but since I was having pain to treat it. We did so with amoxicillin. The pain and peeing at night never went away. I saw a different doctor a few weeks later and this time in the doctors office it showed WBC so he put me on Macrobid and it made me feel better for like 2 days then not so much. When it was sent out it again came back group b.
s that require intravenous antibotics. He is allergic to Bactrum and Macrobid, so is very limited as to different oral meds he can take. He has Acute Urine Retention, has Parkinson's and is a diabetic. He has had a TURP, but has not improved his ability to empty his bladder. He has to do self-cathing several times daily, which is what is apparently causing the continuing problems with UTI's. Any suggestions or helpful advice would be appreciated.
I posted this question on the wrong community board so am reposting here. I was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. I've always been prescribed bactrim or amoxycillan or the like. But for some reason my dr. put me on this drug. I do not have frequent UTIs. I had severe heart palpitations, hot and cold feelings, and felt like I would faint. I read that this should not be prescribed to an older adult with any debilitating condition. I have severe anemia and some internal bleeding somewhere.
