Common Questions and Answers about What are quetiapine tablets used for

seroquel

733744 tn?1337950650 What dose are you at? When did you get placed on Seroquel? They start you at a small dose and move it up as required. Just be a bit patient, and it will help you. I was seriously anxious and hypomanic at the same time, basically what they call mixed states. I started at 25 mgs 3x a day. They moved up my dose though about 6 weeks time to 50mgs morning, 100mgs at dinner, and 100 at night. I just had my dinner dose upped because I was still a bit hypomanic.
Avatar f tn I haven't heard of it being used a lot without a mood stabilizer, but it is always best to go with the least amount of drugs possible to control the mood swings.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Your doctor will be able to work with you and attempt to find a good balance that works for you. Abilify can be used as an add-on therapy for certain conditions, and it can also be used as maintenance therapy for other conditions.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Can you tell me what is in Zeldox that is not in Quetiapine, and if there are any other meds I could try that wouldnt cause these side effects but also not make me gain such a massive amount of weight?
644988 tn?1236364548 I have been on Quetiapine for 3 yrs and have had the same problem. It doesn't matter what the temperture is I just break out in a sweat.. I'm still not used to it. I've tried getting my pdoc to take me off of it but he feels that it is working for me. So I just tolerate it.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
1052851 tn?1307741160 Now I am back on Quetiapine and searching for another med. that does not make you so hyperactive as the Zeldox did or a med. that doesnt make you tired and gain weight as the Quetiapine does. I know there are a lot of new meds. coming out, does anyone have any suggestions as to an alternative med. that provides the benefits of Quetiapine without the massive weight gain?
Avatar f tn Next question: you said klonopin made you sleep well, were you taking them for sleep at night or through the day for anxiety? Benzos make a long-term bad choice for sleep, as they do exactly what you're encountering if used for that purpose.
Avatar f tn I am waiting to start my medication (mood stabilzers) not sure which ones yet i have to wait til my GP opens again tomorrow, but they did say if these tablets do not work i will need to be hospitilzed for treatment as they are worried about the high episodes and they need to see it under control by february 1st otherwise they have no choice to hospitilize me. Is mixed mood disorder bipolar or is this different? Is there anything i can do to manage this?
Avatar f tn All currently available anti-psychotics have the ability to cause diabetes and tardive dyskinesia (except for Clozaril which has its own set of severe side effects) and are always used for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders and have mood stabilization effects. There are other medications for anxiety disorders and panic attacks.
644988 tn?1236364548 My question is where do these personas come from? Are you diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder? Dissociation by nature is psychotic. Did your psychiatrist explain why you experience this? And more importantly what it could be treated with. Did he suggest an antipsychotic? Dissociative identity disorder is extremely rare and usually comes from child abuse or other traumatic experiences. Regardless its worth talking over with a therapist as well and that is part of recovery.
Avatar f tn They are usually only prescribed for short term use. how come you have been prescribed them for so long? I should imagine your body has come to rely on them. Don't stop your anti-depressants though.
534105 tn?1226157177 Seroquel is a powerful drug and was never intended to be used for sleep, but docs do get to do this once a drug is approved -- they can then use it for anything they want. Personally, if my goal was to stop taking meds, I wouldn't go on a powerful med such as Seroquel because that just prolongs the problem -- I'd try and slow down my taper off the clonazepam until I successfully stopped it or found out I couldn't successfully stop it, which raises other issues.
534105 tn?1226157177 It would be better if doctors would tell us that and act on that, but doctors are what they are, very busy people who are trying to maximize their income and time like every other business person. We need to advocate for ourselves with out docs when they seem to be not paying attention. Nobody can diagnose you over the internet, it's really hard to tell sometimes if one is suffering withdrawal or just the thing that caused them to go on the med.
Avatar f tn I looked up PMP 15 panel, and it talks about LC-MS/MS testing. Exactly what is that used for? It seems like a data base to keep track of ppl. An urinalysis, comp is already checked so is this more urine or blood? Or is it both? I just wanna know why & how it's completed. I don't u understand how liquid chromatography mass spectrum is performed.
7765842 tn?1406963224 I still feel sick and was given a different tablet yesterday before leaving the hospital because these tablets are every 12 hours... pretty sure i was given them more regular than that in hospital tho.
Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.
Avatar f tn Seen my doctor regarding Frisium and concerns that it is a medication for seizures/epilepsy. He explained that all the benzodiazepines are used for seizures/epilepsy as well as for anxiety disorders. I did look up the internet, I think it was John Hopkins Epilepsy Center and it had listed many common benzodiazepines such as Klonopin, Valium, Ativan as epilepsy medication .
