Avatar f tn He was on dialysis for a 18 months before his dad gave him a kidney and now, 9 years later, that kidney is failing as well. He was in hospital for a month in Jan and landed up in ICU with blood clots in the lungs. He was given 4 blood transfusions but that has made no difference. He is on warfarin again (it was stopped last year Sept when he landed up in ICU with a nose bleed and got a blood transfusion, the warfarin was then stopped). Could it be his blood causing all these issues?
Avatar n tn - why a clot should form in my heart when the muscles were damaged six years back and considering that I am on aspirin+clopidogrel which too have anti clotting function. - warfarin may be slightly better as compared to aspirin+ clopidogrel, but in my case with no AF, does it makes sense getting into this risky business of conatantly monitoring of INR and fear of bleeding. - I have seen on net some other drugs in market which are equally good as warfarin with lower risk of bleeding.

High thromboembolic risk: stop warfarin 4 days pre-op and start low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) at therapeutic dose; stop the LMWH 12-18 pre-op; restart LMWH 6 hours post-op (assuming haemostasis achieved); restart warfarin when oral fluids are tolerated; stop LMWH when INR = 2.0.

325086 tn?1217971180 Mike H thought it would be a good idea for me to post this link to the Warfarin study. I've been on it since Aortic Valve replacement in 1993..........I did not know I had Hep C until 2002, so all those years, I drank like a Sailor, and even after I found out, I continued to imbibe, I just cut way back. As Mike said, this is a very interesting study. It could be that my Warfarin usage has protected me all these years.
Avatar f tn Have Afib (intermittant - every couple days), thyroid (hypothyroid) controlled with meds, and a BB (Metoprolol). Blood pressure is usually 130/80 pulse 65. If a little high, I do 5 mintues of Tai Chi and it drops to <120/80. I am trying to eat some protein at each meal, so had an egg for breakfast, small 3" square of poached salmon for lunch with string beans and blood pressure spikes to 160/100 with a pulse of 90+.

Avatar f tn Legumes include peanuts, azuki beans, anasazi beans, pinto beans, black beans, red beans, kidney beans, white kidney beans, garbonzo beans -- I mean, there's a lot of beans out there, and all are high in protein. The hemp won't hurt you any, it's good for you, more like flax seeds because of the beneficial oil content, but nothing beats good old beans and brown rice for protein except animal protein because of the methionine thing.

Avatar f tn The first time, the doctor said she was in kidney failure. They took her off all of her blood thinner, Warfarin, and stated he would not give it to her for fear of her falling and causing internal bleeding. He also took her off of her lasix, because this contributed to kidney failure. He would only release her to a nursing home and would not write an order to resume the blood thinner or the lasix.
Avatar f tn The red tinged water looked like blood. Could this color be from red beans that I had the night before? Has red kidney beans in stool been known to cause toilet water to turn redish? I really don't want to go through a major work up for nothing. I'm stressed thinking the cancer is back & I really don't want to go through "everything" again. I really hope its from what I had to eat. I would feel much better to think the kidney beans could be the problem.

Avatar f tn Due to the fact you do have numerous issues; the simplest way to help these issues and follow diets for them is the combine the diets. A moderate fat diet needs to be the base diet which helps your diabetes, heart, GERD, hypertension, liver, and some kidney issues. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
