Vytorin muscle weakness

Common Questions and Answers about Vytorin muscle weakness

vytorin

Avatar f tn The muscle weakness you were experiencing definitely seems like it was caused by the Vytorin due to the weakness/fatigue resolving after stopping the Vytorin. ALS and Rhabdomyolysis are two completely different disease states but can be mistaken for one another due to the similar presentation of symptoms of muscle fatigue and weakness.
Avatar m tn You can search to see if Vytorin studies have shown that it helps reduce cholesterol deposits on heart muscle. Vytorin is a combination, I believe, of Zocor and Zetia. Zocor should help with the cholesterol already there. If not, Lipitor has studies showing that Lipitor at 40mg can help reduce cholesterol on heart valves and in arteries. If it reduces cholesterol there, it may reduce cholesterol on the heart muscle. Cholesterol builds in the arteries, valves and muscle of the heart.
Avatar m tn //www.merck.com/product/usa/pi_circulars/v/vytorin/vytorin_pi.pdf EMedTV has an article that explains some statins are associated with high liver enzymes. It says increases in liver enzymes occur in 1.7 percent of people taking Vytorin. This increase appears to be more prevalent in people who are taking higher doses. It goes on to explain other causes of high liver enzymes.
Avatar n tn t feel as though I have lost any strength in them, just a constant tiredness/weakness/post workout-type of feeling. My wife thinks I'm just "way out of shape" (which is true to a degree though I appear as though I'm in good shape), but this feels like something else. Hard to explain. Accompanying it is an feeling of general malaise; I'd rather just lay down if I had the option most of the time. I now tend to consider it before I do something physical.
Avatar n tn without other drugs, vitamins. Within 2 hours and continues throughout the day, I am having overall weakness, cough, dizziness, legs feel like they are shaking inside, although not externally visible. B/P is sometimes 170 / 90 and other times 125 / 70 and anywhere in-between. Is there some other drug to control hypertension which does not have these side effects?
10996785 tn?1432812977 Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. I had only taken it for about five weeks and the discomfort remains three weeks later. I had the same reaction to simvastatin, which I am told is the worst of the bunch. I'm waiting a few months and then I will try something with a less violent track record.
Avatar n tn Over the past 12 years or so I have taken Lipitor, Pravachol and, when 200mg total Cholesterol wasn't good enough anymore, Vytorin, which brought it down to 160. But, at the end of all that about two years ago I wound up in the ER with severe kidney problems. The doctors said, don't worry about it, just muscle pains and sent me home.
Avatar f tn The only FDA approved drug that has had clinical trails is Crestor. It is a statin drug so you have to watch for muscle pain , fatigue with it. If you get any tell you doctor right away. Have they done a full lipid panel on you too? Diet only lowers your cholesterol by about 10%. So, it helps to not eat any extra cholestrol as your liver is what genetically controls the amount of receptors you are born with that break down cholesterol.
5759924 tn?1374704061 Been looking for answers for over a year now as to why my muscle weakness has not subsided. My muscle weakness is generalized, my arms, legs, neck, and back. First noticed the weakness when I was washing my hair in the shower, I could barely hold my arms up without feeling over exerted. It all started with lymph node swelling in the left posterior and supraclavicular regions in my neck. The swelling lasted for 5 months so my ENT had one biopsied.

Avatar f tn The short answer is that all of the above - hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or other can all cause muscle weakness. Muscle weakness in the muscles you are talking about feeling weakness in, like from pushups (triceps, deltoids, maybe biceps and trapezius) are associated with hypo and hyperthyroidism though, so I think you're on the right track to look in to your thyroid hormone level as a cause, but I can't say it is definitely one of those, or which one it is.
Avatar m tn Hi iam 30 a week ago my body stated twiching and muscle weakness had MRI blood drawn nothing what is happening but a week ago I was strong no symptoms than this what is this please help
Avatar f tn One of my major symptoms is muscle weakness. I wish I knew more about what causes muscle weakness, as some days it isn't as bad as others. Anyhow, I don't think that most people understand that fibro & CFS patients can have this symptom. So I thought I would ask others here.... do you also have muscle weakness and if so... where ? I have it in both legs.
877337 tn?1249844450 I've read that the thyroid can effect the muscle, giving weakness. My questions are these: Can the thyroid affect the hand? For instance, if I am doing a repetitive movement or holding something for a long moment, would the cramp I am experiencing be related to the thyroid situation? Yes, this has happened in the past but more so or quicker recently.
Avatar n tn can someone explain the symptom called muscle weakness? I have been experienceing this i think. I had an MRI and it came back normal but I continue to have this weak muscle feeling in all 4 limbs. It doesn't, however, affect my strength level...it's just a sensation. So how do you describe the term "muscle weakness" when reading about MS symtoms. Thank you.
1523516 tn?1330044257 Hi Guys, I had asked this question in the middle of another post so I wanted to be sure it was seen. Those of you diangosed with MS. Do you get muscle weakness? It's really starting to affect me. The muscles in my arms and legs get really weak, especially on my left side. It's hard to hold my hair dryer and fix my hair, getting harder to walk up steps, sometiems just across the room, etc. Some days are much better than others.
Avatar m tn I have been having intermittement muscle weakness and joint pain for about 2 months now. Have had a spinal tap (negative) and two MRIs - some lesions seen but neuro says they are "insignificant". MS has been ruled out. The only blood tests that have come back abnormal are for active epstein-barr, vitamin d deficiency (level is 10), thyroid underactive and cortisol underactive. I am extremely exhausted and anxious alot of the time.
Avatar m tn My doctor perscribed Vytorin 10/20. This is where my health began to deteriorate. I developed both clay soft stool and chronic explosive diarrhea in the mornings (3-4X before leaving the house) and excessive tiredness. At first I didnt put the two together, I just thought it was something I was eating or drinking so I continuously changed my diet. Nothing helped. I went back to the doctor for a 1 yr follow up and mentioned the diarrhea.
Avatar f tn I had a few more questions about these two drugs. If anyone could offer more insight on them, I would love to hear. Lately my friend has had jabbing foot, arm and hand pain. HE still has the tiredness, but each day it seems to improve a little. We are not sure Verapamil is the drug for him, but we are praying his cholesterol will go down and this will eliminate that drug. We are still looking for success stories others have had with meds, surgeries, and etc.
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
Avatar n tn My father needs to lower his cholesterol, but Statins cause him significant muscle problems (Myositis) and elevated Creatine Kinase CPK and Aldalase. His symptoms resolve and tests return to normal when the Statins are discontinued. What Cholesterol drugs can he try that do not have Myositis as a side effect?
