Avatar n tn I just had a bit of varicose and after having aspirin first and then blood thinners now they completely disappeared for first time in m life :) Thanks a lot for the answer :)
Avatar m tn A stroke in 2004 left me with left side weakness due from a large blood clot. Then another stroke in 2008 from another blood clot that hit behind the left eye. I had angioplasty in 2003 for a 75% and 90% blockage but no stents. After the first stoke I was put on Coumadin and thin soon thereafter put on only two baby aspirin. In getting ready for sius surgery in 2008 I was taken off my aspirin for 8 days and the day before the surgery had the second stroke.
Avatar f tn So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you. If you wait for a study from the FDA on Viagra for MS, then it will probably happen after you are dead. Please try this now. Viagra has a very good safety profile for a number of years now.
Avatar n tn Surely you must mention that you are on blood thinners to your surgeon. A couple of blood tests before surgery would be essential.
Avatar m tn The blood thinners you speak of would reduce your platelet count so the initial injury, if bleeding, would want to keep bleeding due to the thinned blood. However, it is your white blood cells that do the healing and they are not affected by blood thinners. So I wouldn't be concerned about it unless you observe that it is taking a REALLY long time to heal.
Avatar m tn How does one evaluate the risk of clot formation without blood thinners versus the risk of bleeding in the brain when on blood thinners? A neurosurgeon told me that blood thinners were definitely out. Is an eventual stroke then my only option?
Avatar f tn my friend has a generic blood disorder and must take blood thinners daily. she has developed severe back pain and has been instructed to have an epederal for the pain. the docter chosen to give the epederal will not do so until she has not taken blood thinner medication for 5 days. her family doctor is furious and says she can not lay off the thinners. my question is: why would she need to not take the medication just to have an epederal.
Avatar m tn Im nervous about the procedure because im on blood thinners. What are the risks? Any advice going into this?
Avatar n tn I was on lovenox in the beginning of my pregnancy but take off due to not being at risk. Now they want me to go back on the blood thinners 12hrs after I have the baby. Im very confused because I was planning a home birth and my doctor that wants me on blood thinners is 80+ yrs old and tells me I need to be in a hospital to deliver at my apt last week and I was 35weeks. When I asked him why he said so they can blood transfuse me when I start to hemmorage after taking the blood thinners.
Avatar f tn I had patella realignment surgery on 12/21, open knee rather than scope. Developed large blisters on knee as a result of alergic reaction to Benzoin about 10 days post op. Was withheld from therapy for an additional 2 weeks to allow blistering and suture site to heal. Began therapy about 3.
Avatar n tn Creates a scary situation with all those thinners. I take the same minus coumadin.but add eliquis. To me we are just walking time bombs. Doctors don't seem to care or really understand. Need safer and healthier way to keep blood flowing naturally. The answer to your question is to say no more coumadin.
Avatar n tn You need to get your INR and prothrombin time done if you are on blood thinners and need to adjust the dose of blood thinner accordingly. Get a stool test for occult or hidden blood to confirm that you have gut bleeding. You could also bleed into the lungs. Hence please consult a doctor immediately and find out if you are bleeding inside, and to rule out other causes of anemia like vitamin B12 deficiency. Take care!
Avatar f tn Ended up in the Hospital for a week, with the clots, etc.. I was tested for blood clotting disorders and have been on blood thinners since Sept. Hospital reading first came back positive for Lupus Anticoagulant, then said it was a false positive. Protein C & S still testing low, but I do not know what that means exactly. Any reason one would just develope unexplained blood clots? Any relation of blood clots to the Graves?
Avatar m tn Hello. I can't second guess your physician; however, I'd be very careful with Viagra and high blood pressure. There are no herbal supplements that are effective. None have been certified as such by the FDA. As to why you're sometimes having erections and sometimes not: blood pressure highly affects blood flow to your penis, and that's what creates an erection. So if there's any medical condition that inhibits blood flow, this will affect your erection.
Avatar f tn My GYN doctor wants to put me on blood thinners BEFORE the surgery because I have a blood clot history. Does anyone here have this same type of history and had to be on blood thinners before the surgery? I am a bit concerned about this because I am afraid of bleeding during the surgery due to the blood thinners. From my understanding I will have to be on the blood thinners a couple of days before surgery. Anyway, this really scares me.
Avatar m tn I have this problem of going soft right in the middle of the performance. I used to be great earlier, may be age is catching up. I understand that Viagra is good option but I have this fear of side effects (may be unfounded but still a fear), and I have history of drug reactions. I have heard that there are some very effective natural stimulants are available. But I am even more fearful of bad stuff. Can anybody suggest a tried and tested natural stimulant or any other method?
Avatar f tn I recently took Vinpocetine for brain metabolism - to increase dopamine and it increased blood flow and i noticed a increase in night and morning erections. It said do not take with blood thinners. Gave me head achs at first like viagra and the other two drugs especially the anastozole. Is my brain gonna bust a vein or what - NO! Thats what scares me about taking to many things or mixing things teogether. My testosterone was average also or considered good from a blood test.
Avatar f tn Long story short, I developed a Massive Pulmonary Embolism in my lungs due to the contraceptives. It did a number to my heart as it passed through. I was then put on blood thinners and Metoprolol. I am now off the thinners but my Heart Doctor kept me on the Beta Blockers because I still had Tachycardia and my blood pressure is still a little high. Since then, I have started to see a Weight Management doctor for my weight issues related to the PCOS. The wight doctor put me on Phentermine.
Avatar m tn I would always think I could not maintain erections because I was obese and had high blood pressure and took lisinopril. I am now at a healthy weight and do not take any blood pressure meds. Sometimes I am able to maintain a weak erection while the girl is on top but when I try to switch positions, the erection is gone. I have been too uncomfortable to talk with my doctor about the issue but I know that it's time. About a year ago I purchased Viagra online from out of the country.
Avatar f tn Nitrates (nitrogen oxide donors) should not be taken with Viagra. Concomitant use of Viagra and nitrates may cause severe drop in blood pressure. I recommend you consult your cardiologist before using Viagra, and yes it may help in your case if it is not contraindicated.
Avatar n tn Sometimes it can be treated with an Aspirin a day, but once a clot forms, then there is a need to be on blood thinners, at least for a while. In my case, being relatively young, and having had many clots, I'm on them permanently So the reason they treat a DVT with blood thinners, is to prevent the clot from reforming or from moving and ending up in the lungs or heart which would likely be fatal. A clot in the brain is more commonly known as a stroke.
