I was wondering if anyone knew of any longer lasting side-effects of this drug (i.e. the blood vessels in the penis permanently widen to allow increased blood flow). I'm not concerned over my health but was wondering if Viagra does something to physically change something in the penis to allow harder and longer lasting erections and if so, does this have any long-term consequences.
Cutting a viagra in half is not easy because they are hard coated and not scored (and oddly shaped). I find that 25mg is a little too much since it has side effects (a low blood pressure feeling, even though I don't think my blood pressure is really low). I have tried cutting the 50mg into fourth (very difficult), but this seems like a little too little. I would like to cut it into thirds, but this is clearly impossible. So. Can I crush the pill and weigh it out into thirds.

About two weeks ago I attended 2 concerts a couple of days apart. After that my ears felt normal for a week. A little over a week after the concert my tinnitus got louder. It seemed to go up slowly but noticeably over the week. I also take Viagra (about a week after the concert) and have had bronchitis recently. I know Viagra sometimes causes side effects in the head, I've had a stuffy head and bad taste in my mouth after taking Viagra in the past.

I can't second guess your physician; however, I'd be very careful with Viagra and high blood pressure. There are no herbal supplements that are effective. None have been certified as such by the FDA.
As to why you're sometimes having erections and sometimes not: blood pressure highly affects blood flow to your penis, and that's what creates an erection. So if there's any medical condition that inhibits blood flow, this will affect your erection.
