Avatar n tn my partner takes medication for high blood pressure is it possible for him to get viagra from the doctor and is it safe for him to take
Avatar f tn So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you. If you wait for a study from the FDA on Viagra for MS, then it will probably happen after you are dead. Please try this now. Viagra has a very good safety profile for a number of years now.
Avatar m tn What exactly do you mean by "loose"? Can you still get an erection? Masturbation is not harmful (well, maybe if you are doing it several times a day), it did not cause this problem. Blood pressure and heartrate may well be connected with this problem (the penis becomes hard by being pumped full of blood). Possibly being underweight too, I don't know about that. Viagra and surgery can both help. I'd certainly try Viagra before even considering surgery!
Avatar n tn he use to have high blood pressure very high blood pressure and he didnt have no stand at all..because of the medication...so i cook with no salt and it lowered his blood pressure and sent it some where else...ya know...and since no problems...and no medication either.. just me now Im the medication...
Avatar m tn Hello. I can't second guess your physician; however, I'd be very careful with Viagra and high blood pressure. There are no herbal supplements that are effective. None have been certified as such by the FDA. As to why you're sometimes having erections and sometimes not: blood pressure highly affects blood flow to your penis, and that's what creates an erection. So if there's any medical condition that inhibits blood flow, this will affect your erection.
Avatar n tn (1) It is a time released medication and the coating is important to keep the medication from coming into my blood stream too fast. I don't believe this is the case with Viagra. (2) The medication deteriorates when exposed to air (oxidizes) and would lose potency if crushed. This I don't know and am asking about. Thank you. BTW: I entered this question into another ED related forum and it seemed to dissappear. If I am repeating myself, I apologize.
Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.
Avatar m tn One last thing is exercising. Walking has been proved to control the level of cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and even improve asthma. A 30 minutes walk daily should keep you healthy and highly spirited.

Avatar f tn And yes for the last 6 months I have taken the medication, done what lab has been ordered, x-rays etc. But my blood pressure swings up and down. I can go from 150/110 to 220/134. My distolic never goes down lower then 110. I still (best way to describe it) is I get waken up by headaches about 1-3 in the morning. And by 2-3 in the afternoon I feel completly wiped out. Gaining weight but no fluid retention. I am at the point of just stopping the medication as at least I did not feel this tired.

Avatar n tn If you are sure, those numbers are dangerously high. Has your blood pressure been consistently this high? Any other symptoms? If you pressure is staying this high, you need to be on medication ASAP. If you are on medication and your numbers are still this high, then you should be hospitalized.

Avatar n tn Sometimes it takes more than one medication to reduce the BP. My mom had high systolic pressure and her doctor was on top of it right away. She takes a couple of different medications (that's quite common). If your mom isn't able to advocate for herself, you or someone close to her should go with her to the appointments. If you don't feel she is getting acceptable treatment, help her find a new doctor who she will feel comfortable with.
