Avatar m tn Also, before people start “Nit Picking” the statement “with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 7,000 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era — and of human civilization.” The key words are “human civilization.

Avatar n tn By wearing it i feel a little difference in reduction of pain in right orbit. But the pain in left orbit (in veins and in tissues) is so much that it doesnt subside. I had -5.75 number in left eye. I had even shown to ENT surgeon .But they said its "OK".There is no problem when seen in "Waters view" x ray. I have to take 2 tablets of Betnesol(steroid -sodium betamethasone)to get my day thru and pain subsides to around 30-40%.
179856 tn?1333547362 Rock will appreciate this one! It sounds like a SyFy movie but is real........ Timing is everything. And for the Solar Dynamics Observatory, launched into orbit this past February, the timing couldn't have been better. The SDO helps scientists study solar storms, and for a long couple of years prior to the launch, those storms were few and far between. Our nearby star was in a deep sleep, largely devoid of the sunspots, flares and prominences that indicate heightened magnetic activity.
Avatar m tn Environmental factors (rivers, ranges, islands and continents), the natural evolution of HCVon the molecular level, host genetic factors, and the result of competition between the viral variations. Natural topograpghic features could help a particular variant to gain a strong presence since it would not have to compete with as many outside geno/subtypes for dominance .

Avatar m tn It is hard to comment without knowing what type of tumor. Is it in the optic nerve (glioma), orbit, or in the brain. Please have him get a second opinion. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn I have had numerous surgeries including the Fontan in 1987 with a revision of the Fontan in 2006, where at that time I also had a Medtronic Enrhythym Pacemaker install. 3 weeks ago I had a Pacemaker replacement due to the fact my battery on my Pacemaker was running low. The new Pacemaker installed is a Medtronic Adapta. Since the new pacemaker my Heart beat has been all over the place. My 1st Enrhythym was paced at 80 bpm, and it pretty much stayed like that for 5.
Avatar n tn And two, in the setting of this A fib and a slow heart rhythm, putting in a pacemaker may reduce the amount of atrial fibrillation you're having. But more importantly, the presence of a pacemaker will allow your doctor to put you on anti-arrhythmic medications safely. If you have a tendency for a very slow heart rhythm, if you were placed on and anti-arrhythmic medication, your heart rate may get so slow you could get dizzy or pass out.
Avatar n tn When I do any exercise that really contracts the muscle that my pacemaker lies under, I pay attention to how it feels and stop or switch positions if it feels like it is putting too much pressure on the pacemaker. If your pacemaker has been implanted recently, be especially careful for the first few months while the scar tissue grows to hold the pacer and leads in place.
Avatar m tn Unless your mother is in superior condition and will live many years I would not subject to the pacemaker. The pacemaker part is fine but not the defrib part of it. If she slips away that defrib unit will bring her back. As some one who is up in years I would not want that. A nice peace passing is what I would want. Warm regards.
Avatar f tn Of course you description is very vague but the branch of ophthalmology that operates within the eye socket (orbit) behind the eye is an oculoplastic surgeon ophthalmologist. Your best bet would be at a medical school, asking a local ophthalmologist for referral. India has very capable ophthalmology and you should be able to find someone.
Avatar n tn He said when the pacemaker pacing, at the echo looks like hypokinesis. The LV didn't contracted at the same time as RV (paced). Left side is a bit lazy, didn't catch up to the right side speed. My EF is 55 - 59. No one wants to hear the dizzy spells, they said the pacemaker can cover it. The day when I wore the holter monitor, I was very dizzy like walking on the space. The QTc came out 675. I'm wondering was the dizziness caused by QTc or not?
Avatar f tn No, I don't think so it is the symptom of end of life. I lived with my father in law who was 94 years old when he came in. He's healthy, only with asthma. He offered help me to sweep the floor/yard. Hanging and picking up the clothes. He also concentrated on the weather make sure he picked up the clothes before it rained. He'll miss if he slept all the day long! LOL. He liked sleep (usually longer hour than us).
Avatar f tn When I was at the doctors office they explained that it is working everytime her heart beats. They told us that the lower right side of her heart is bad. They said the pacemaker is set at 60bpm to keep her heart at a steady beat but when her blood pressure is taken the lower number is always in the 80's. I tryed to ask could the pacemaker be set to high for her body.
1411632 tn?1281642993 I had a halter monitor test done by my PCP and they said they recorded several pauses. One that was 9.5 seconds, one 6 seconds and two 3 seconds. I was referred to a cardiologist who recommended a pacemaker. What are the odds that in that 24 hour halter test there are 4 pauses but now my pacemaker has not recorded any in an 8 month period? I also did not have tachycardia until after the pacemaker implantation.
Avatar f tn My Doctor did a brain scan and it indicated that I have a thinning of the lining of the cortex. He went onto explain that this will make me a candidate for Alzheimers which absolutely scared me to death. Although it has not started yet (I am 56), and I consider myself bright and alert, what can I do to forestall this from happening? I have had a very, very stressful life for 20 years (verbal abuse from my spouse) could this have made this condition?
Avatar m tn t see my entire face. To see both of my eyes in the mirror I have to flip back and forth and look at each of my eyes (even when I move further away from the mirror). Is this normal? I've gone to an optometrist several times over the years to have my eyes checked out and the only thing they've noted is that I have a slight astigmatism... the lowest prescription you can give for glasses. I've never told them or asked them about this.

Avatar n tn My husband is totally dependent on the pacemaker and we want to keep that part of it operational, but NOT the defib portion of it. I didn't know you could have one without the other.
781550 tn?1236029747 I wrote to the Princess Alexander Hospital and they called me in for a thorough checkup of my pacemaker. It was regularly running my heart at 160 bpm. The penny dropped! There is a setting which detects when one is exercising. It senses vibration and increases the heart rate. However, vehicle vibrations can fool it. So if I got into a rough vehicle, my heart rate shot up. If it stays up for long enough, I get a heart attack. Solution - turn the setting off. All cured. Well, not quite.
Avatar m tn Basically what they do is estimate how much blood is in the left ventricle just before it squeezes to push it out into the body. They then wait until the blood has been squeezed out and measure whats left (not every drop is ever squeezed out). If you subtract the remainder from what you had at the beginning, you get the amount of blood that the heart ejected out of the chamber. This is then turned into a percentage. Normal is around 55%-70%. So 56% is within limits.
Avatar n tn There can be slight variations in the appearance of the tissues in the throat. If you have concerns about specific areas, you should definitely discuss these with the physician that examined you. It is understandable to be concerned and is appropriate to share these concerns with your doctor. Best wishes.
