Valtrex and dizziness

Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex and dizziness

valtrex

I have had chronic dizziness, brain fog, feelings if unreality, and severe ear pain- feels like burning aching sensation. All I have for a diagnosis is that one test out of 4 was positive for ebv- the IGG, suggesting a recent infection. I have felt theses symptoms for 3 months. Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks.
I am unaware of adverse interactions between accutane, valtrex, and/or oral contraceptives, and couldn't find evidence of any on line. Your symtpoms could well be due to accutane along; they arenb't due to valtrex or orth-tricyclen. There are several on-line resources to check drug interactions. Here is one of them: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/ChooseDrugs/1,4109,,00.
I continue to have dysuria and urgency, but this is improved now that I've been on valtrex for a few days. I've read that herpes can take on a number of skin manifestations, and is often misdiagnosed for something else. Given the full clinical picture, with the dysuria, tingling, and now skin lesions and malaise, isn't there a possiblity of herpes?
My 29 year old daughter had a severe and frightening reaction to Valtrex. She had cold sores and began taking 500 mg Valtrex, per script. She took one in the am and one in the pm for five days, and as adverse effects appeared, she cut back to one in the pm for four more days. She progressively became psychotic, experiencing altered states of consciousness, panic attacks, uncontrollable crying, tremors, and extreme fear. Blurred vision and the inability to focus were also taking place.
sometimes even in my feet and over all weakness. The side effects of the Valtrex seem to be diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, headaches and lack of appetite. The symptoms were prevalent before beginning the Valtrex. Does this mean I was too late in starting the Valtrex or does it not help with already noticeable symptoms? and is just for suppressing symptoms before they can be noticeable? Also these symptoms have been in full force for about 3 weeks.
But then again, he's only an actor playing a part ( and probably getting a hand out from GKS at the same time lol ) Also, it's important to remember that herpes transmission remains unlikely in sero-discordant couples. Studies proclaim that daily valtrex helps to protect partners - but the risk is never zero - and valtrex only lowers this risk by 1 - 2 %. As well, shedding studies are pretty mind-boggling aren't they?
I went to the gyn about the ulcers and pain i had on my vulva, and she didnt seem to pay any attention to the things i told her about the recent staph infection or the antibiotics or my recent hospitalization. she said she thinks its herpes and prescribed valtrex. she did a swab and two blood tests, all of which i have not received the results back for. but insisted that i take herpes medication. is this a good idea if i dont have herpes after all?

m student at a major university and my problem started almost one year ago. It started with dizziness (feeling faint and lightheaded and can't balance standing up, but no feeling of room spinning) and headaches. It progressively got worse for about 10 days to a point where i barely could get out of bed. I finally went to a hospital and was observed overnight. I got a CT scan because i had alteration in consciousness and diagnosis was chronic sinusitis.
I've written a few months ago and appreciate your help. I've had tinnitus, dizziness and burning sensation on my skin of arms, jaw, legs and sometimes back. It is more frequent as time goes on. b12 was 311, ana, sed rate, crp, immune panel, MRI,thyroid and basic bloodwork was normal. 2 neurologists tole me my exam was not normal (left side out of equilibrium with right) and that is whats making me dizzy. They don't know what is causing it.
Vestibular therapy is often quite effective, even in patients who have been dizzy for a long time, because the vestibular therapist will look for your SPECIFIC weaknesses in your vestibular system and give you tailored exercises to do. Sometimes people with ongoing dizziness/lightheadedness after a vestibular injury (such as an inner ear infection) are helped by low doses of medications such as Xanax or Klonopin, but these medications only mask the symptoms and impair long-term compensation.
The valtrex can cause dizziness. What dose are you taking? Herpes infects nerve groups, and genital herpes infects the sacral ganglia. This means that any herpes infection below the waist is genital herpes. Even though your outbreaks are on your butt, you could still be shedding from the genital area. Read the herpes handbook for more info - www.westoverheights.com And lets keep all your responses to one thread, please.
I went to a urologist who is knowledgeable about this and told him the whole story. My other symptoms are that I have a little dizziness and lost of appetite. My nerves are shot. He is doing a test for HIV. I did have one on August 20th which was negative as well as the other STDS but since I was in contact with this woman on July 24th I knew that it did not mean anything. He examine my lymph nodes and check my mouth, and there was nothing.
and there is no cure for it but my doc put me on high doses of valtrex (herpe)medicine and it helps. I have had the virus for 18 years, I know it was all the mercury fillings I had. I can give you a referral to a physician who can help you. Stop eating any fish for now! There is detox protocol..Dont let a dentist put any into your teeth either. You have a good chance of beating it...you have got to do the work..Dont let them tell you that its in your head. Its a common virus...

About a month before I actually got tested, I started having daily headaches. Nerve Pain in my head etc. I had a break out and was a bit sick for a few days with dizziness, dry eyes, upset stomach etc. The break out went away and I was still having daily headaches, burning sensations on my head, face and eyes. My doctor sent my to a Neurologist that had me get a MRI of my brain. The MRI was clear for suspected meningitis.
constant and loud tinnitus; fog brain; lightheadedness, dizziness, and swooning; headaches; and an overall pressure or tight feeling in my head. I feel depressed and only want to sit when having these symptoms. I look forward to going to bed at night to escape living with this. Recently, I've begun to get up with a stiff neck. Some days it will wear off and some days it stays with me. I started these symptoms when I was in my mid 40's. It started with dizziness.
I took a valtrex last night and i dont feel to well this morning i have like a burning headache and my right eye is in pain, could this be from the medicine and the right side of my face feels funny....or could the herpes be messing with my eye?
My neuro has ruled out MS, but I still have dizziness, extreme fatigue, and vertigo. The MRI's of my neck and spine have revealed many disc issues which explain the weakness, numbness, and tingling in my limbs. Sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you get answers soon.
I also have herpes simplex 1 which I've had for about 4 years and have only had 1 outbreak in that time. Out of fear of experiencing another outbreak, I take Valtrex daily which reduces and shortens the length of time if I was ever to get another. my Dr. says that it doesn't look really like an out break at all, and it certainly doesn't feel like how I remembered it to feel like. No one knows what this is and why I keep feeling like this.
My symptoms have occurred twice, both after frequent sex with my partner and first time consisted of a red bump, pain when urinating, a white dicharge, dizziness and a sore throat two weeks after initial symptoms. This is why im so sure I have it. He has had no sympotms but never been tested and is unlikely to (he believes my symtopms are from sexual over-activity). My questions are (1) I read recently that asymptomatic shedding is most frequent in first six months.
Six weeks ago, I woke up with numbness on the right side - cheek, forehead, mouth - which went away before I began corticosteroid medication and Valtrex for what was believed to be a virus in my 5th cranial nerve. After medication, I had 2 weeks where I was fine, and now again, have woken up with numbness on the other side of my face, and the added bonus prize of dizziness sometimes. I have had CAT, MRI, Lyme disease tests and other blood work - all negative.
I contracted mono in November and got a very bad case of it and didn't take adequate time to rest. I was only out of work for 2 weeks and during that time was somewhat out and about. Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim).
His eye is fine, no damage to cornea. He has been taking Valtrex. Now he has a stiff neck and jaw pain. Is this part of the shingles? Thank you.
i have been suffering from debilatating allergies/sinus probs, fatigue, and dizziness for about a year now. i do have allergies to mold, dust, milk products, and corn products. my allergy doc says my symptoms are all from allergies, but i have been trying everything 2 avoid the allergens, been getting allergy shots, tried numerous allergy medications, with no help from anything! does anyone else experience this type of thing? i seriously feel like i am getting so depressed.
I have had shingles and both times I had this happen I was on valtrex and I am trying to figure out if that has something to do with it. Sop just out of curiousity were you on valrtex or something similar?
On the 12th SEP 08 I had what seemed like sudden flu symptoms; fever, sweating, dry cough dizziness, and fatigue, most symptoms generally lasted for a week, I showed my doctor a –one month old- urine test that showed bacteria, he prescribed Cipro., during the treatment, one morning after taking the Cipro, I vomited and felt better, after which I noticed what seemed like thrush on the middle of my tongue, I have taken antibiotics before which never caused thrush..
Today is pretty bad. I have the dizziness and a huge headache along with painful sores. I hope someone will help me get this under control.
