I have had chronic dizziness, brain fog, feelings if unreality, and severe ear pain- feels like burning aching sensation. All I have for a diagnosis is that one test out of 4 was positive for ebv- the IGG, suggesting a recent infection. I have felt theses symptoms for 3 months. Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks.
Shortly afterwards I started feeling dizziness and headache, located mainly around my eyes and the temporal areas. In the past 3 months, I saw several doctors including ID, dermatologist and ophthalmologist, none of them could give me a definitive diagnosis, which is really frustrating. But I am 100% sure I got herpes. I tried to stop valtrex for a couple to days, then the fever came back. After resuming valtrex, the fever and diarrhea resolved the next day.
My last attack lasted 7 hours of vomiting and immobility, followed by 7 days of imbalance and dizziness. It was frightening..unfortunately, Meclizine (and I am also taking Valtrex) did not help with this last bout or during the days following the attack. So I am hoping to try others; always in fear of another attack. Maybe I am just one of those unlucky ones - here in 2018.
sometimes even in my feet and over all weakness. The side effects of the Valtrex seem to be diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, headaches and lack of appetite. The symptoms were prevalent before beginning the Valtrex. Does this mean I was too late in starting the Valtrex or does it not help with already noticeable symptoms? and is just for suppressing symptoms before they can be noticeable? Also these symptoms have been in full force for about 3 weeks.
ve also felt generalized malaise and fatigue. Last night, I also felt this dizziness when I would wake up in the middle of the night, almost as if I were falling out of bed. Is this a sequelae of the virus invading my nerves roots?
I continue to have dysuria and urgency, but this is improved now that I've been on valtrex for a few days.
I've read that herpes can take on a number of skin manifestations, and is often misdiagnosed for something else.
most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks.
Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side?
Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.
3 weeks of antibiotics (Bactrim, ciprofloxacin seem to address the testicular pain). Valtrex 2g a day seems to control pinching, itching and dizziness, and 3g seems to control it even more. No visible outbreak.
4. Week 4 – Week 7: Muscle pain, Joint pain, Pain in neck lymph nodes + mild-moderate swelling, intermittent nausea and dizziness, indigestion. Pinching, itching in scrotal area and lips. Lip blister begins forming and is the closest to a herpes blister I have seen so far.
Thanks for the reply. Well if valtrex doesnt affect the results,wouldnt 55days be enough for conclusion? As doctors say 6weeks is quite enough for antihiv tests except cemotherapy patients?
Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.
If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex?

I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.
I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bout an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I know this question is asked over and over but, are my test conclusive even on Valtrex? My last exposure was 9 months ago if that wasn't clarified?

My doctor explained to me that taking Valtrex on a regimen would help the virus become dormant. I was wondering what that meant specifically in terms of my likelihood of transmitting the virus to sexual partners with or without condoms.
HSV-1 is less susceptible to Valtrex and related drugs, so the necessary dose is unknown and might be higher than for HSV-2. Also, asymptomatic shedding is less common with oral HSV-1 than genital HSV-2. Finally, the main strategy for protecting your partner probably should be for him or her to be tested for HSV-1. There is a 50-50 chance of a positive result, in which case s/he is not susceptible and you need take no precautions at all.

Since finding out I've contracted Herpes the area around my vagina has been swollen and I've also had a lot of bleeding which has been like a heavy period and lasted well over a week, nearly 2. I took Valtrex which stopped the bleeding so I assumed it was related to Herpes. But I have just finished a course of Valtrex and am bleeding again. At first I assumed it was my period but it's been heavy bleeding for a good few days now. I am also very itchy.
