My son is 19 years old and for the last 5 years my son has had to get a physical so he can play football. Every year like clock work there was protein and some blood in his urine. Four years ago is protein level was at 300. Now its at 2000. About a years ago it was 2000 and our family doctor asked me to take my son to a Urologist. The urologist ran several years and was not sure why we were referrred. The urologist basically gave my son a clean bill of health.

Two times I went to my doctor and he sent me to a lab and both times the results were negative. My doctor does physical & PSA test for prostate every 2 years and so far every thing is normal. The 3rd time the clinic said I have blood my doctor said he will ignore it.
I saw a nurse practitioner, who talked with me for five minutes and said I should see a specialist. But she did nothing else! There was no exam at all, no blood test, urine test, etc., to check for anything else, which is what I thought I paid for. I guess I looked okay to her! I would say that maybe she could see it in my eyes that I was healthy but since she didn't look in my eyes that possibility is out! I had already paid the $90 fee before I went to the exam room.
I am a 34 y/o male who just had a physical done. In my urine they found large amount of protien. My doc had me take another test a week later and it came back with a trace of protien but in normal limits. The doc said we will keep an eye on it for the next month and see what happens. SHould I be worried about this?
Hi, Thank you for your question. Follow these circumstances, and see if YOU come up with the same hunch I did:
1. Never had a report of blood in urine in past
2. Primary doc's urine test, just 4 wks prior, was clear
3. The night before Urology appoint., I drink some beet/pomegranate juice+ a little green tea 4 blood press.
4. Next day: urine sample alarms Urologist, calls it "real PINK!" ... after which he says " blood in the urine.
Blood clots and blood in urine could be due to bleeding from the urethra, prostrate or the ureters. The common causes could be stones, infections, BPH and rarely tumors in the urinary tract.
I would suggest that you visit a urologist and discuss the above mentioned possibilities and follow his advise.

Big - That's why I said the strips are unreliable. What do those terms mean? How do you interperet them? The only way to know if WBC's are an issue is to get a count via microscope. The UA without scope will show signs of WBC then they do a count with a scope. I'm sure you know this already but that's why I said the strips aren't good.
Also, milking and squeezing will not cause WBC's to be present. They are present when fighting infection.
Have endured irritation in urethra (tip of penis) for three weeks, with no discharge or obvious trauma. Had difficulty urinating and irritation from friction with clothes...all day, especially when working out. Saw my GP two weeks ago and told him about symptoms; he asked if there was any reason it could be STD...I have not had any new partners and in monogamous relationship, so I hope it's not STD.
It is not a very complex procedure and expected side effects will be mild hematuria (blood in urine ) and slight burning pain in the area which should be reversible in 24 hours.
Cystoscopy will also allow your physician to take tissue samples when indicated. Just think positive and keep a good attitude. You have been very proactive about this. Let us hope for good ,clean results.

1) Young doctors do not do that anymore, and anything that a urine sample would indicate would show up in the blood test (that I did get orders for). But my previous doctor was younger than him.
2) I didn't ask him...I realized it after I left that he didn't do this.
3) He said since I had had a colonoscopy 6 years before (it was OK so I was told I didn't need another for 10 years), he didn't need to do it. Again, my previous doctor did do this.
1) in addition of the urine test positive, Is a visual and & physical exam enough to make a correct verdict?
2) I am worry about the single sore (ulcer) almost resorbed. From your opinion Is it a syphillys or something else?
3) if Syphillis, why not to prescibe me Penicilline which was more adequate treatment?
4) if the ulcer is still not fully resorbed after tommorrow would i need to continue for more days the doxycline?
Went for a physical a month ago and they detected a trace of blood in my urine - they repeated the test and said it was less but come back in 3 weeks - I did and there was still a trace - I have never seen blood and have no problems - I saw a urologist who felt "to be sure" I needed an ultra sound - then I had a cystoscopy - both were clear - but they are sending the sample from the cystoscopy urine for furthur testing.
I am prescribed Adderall XR 30 mg. I stopped taking it because I did not want to report it on my pre-employment physical. When I got to my appointment many forms kept asking me about it and I wanted to be honest so I reported it. I have to get a doctors note and that is ok. However now I am really worried because I am afraid it won't show up on my urine test.
What about if a "Virgin Girl"l took HCG Urine Pregnancy Test and the test result come POSITIVE? It means that she's pregnant huh?
