765439 tn?1292960414 For anxiety and panic attacks I had 24 hour saliva and urine tests. I was positive for high cortisol. I take high dosages of vitamin B5 because high cortisol depletes that vitamin. I also take ashwagandha (Indian ginseng) to help normalize cortisol.
Avatar f tn My blood cortisol level is high. My doctor ordered a 24 hour urine test. I am currently taking fluconazole tablets & miconozole cream for a yeast infection. Also, I used topical cortisone cream on my face yesterday. I plan to collect the urine tomorrow. Will any of this interfere with the results? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Does anyone know the ranges for normal for a blood test for Cortisol, Serum (ug/dL). Mine was 16.3 at 1pm in the afternoon. I'm having severe symptoms that are affecting my day to day functioning and growing more constant now and I need to be my own doctor and try to figure out what could be wrong with me. A year ago I was diagnosed with a Benign (Adrenal adenoma) spot in my Adrenal. Can you help? Just really curious as to what the test results mean. Is 16.3 very normal for afternoon?

Avatar m tn 24h URINARY CORTISOL 39.00 µg/24h [4.3 - 176] From what I see, I'm in the range, maybe low normal but I don't know if is there a connection with adrenal fatigue. What's your opinion? Please, can someone help me, my endocrinologist say I haven't problem but I have a lot of anxiety.
905502 tn?1245176370 I am doing the 11PM - 8 AM dex suppression test, 24 hour urine, and midnight saliva test for Cushings. Seems they are all fairly unreliable. My dr. has ordered eacha few times. Maybe this time they will come back with something. Good luck Jab!
1580703 tn?1651904887 1pm is not a time to test cortisol - there is no range for that time of day - it is not a diagnostic test. Your doctor is not doing a correct protocol. Cortisol normally goes up and down. It can be low and be something completely different, for instance, if you are high all night. You need to be tested correctly to be treated correctly. Your blood sugar can be normal. I had high cortisols and normal glucose, cholestrol, low BP etc. Your endo has NO idea how to test for low or high cortisol.
Avatar f tn AM ccrtisol has been between 1 and 5, below range low of 6.7. although cortisol stimulated to 13.7. Dr ordered 24 hour urine for catecholamines in July and December. both times epinephrine NE <5 &<6 below clinical reportable range. In July he said first test was incomplete but looked normal but ordered again all other parts of both test are normal. husband is very anxious. I also asked about his anaphylaxis to wheat that came on when he was 56.
Avatar f tn I have had many blood tests, 24 hour urine, cortisol test, and ACTH stimulation test and no answers. I've been told that I don't have Addison's or Adrenal insufficiency because 1. I'm gaining weight that I can't lose no matter what I do. 2) I'm seriously craving salt (when I feel nauseous, exhausted, shaky, lightheaded, and like I'm going to pass out- salt is the only thing that brings me out of it. 3) my ACTH stimulation test was "normal".
Avatar n tn Below are my results. Cortisol Urine Free Per Volume -- 7.17 ug/l. Cortisol Urine Free Ration to CRT 6.58 ug/l CRT. Cortisol Urine Free per 24-h 13.4 ug/d (<=45.00 standard range). Cortisol Urine Free per volume 109 mg. Cortisol Urine Free 24 hr 1989 (700-1600 standard range) Thanks!
1401877 tn?1288107639 Hi all, I've been a regular on the Dysautonomia forum with Postural Orthastatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I think before I get in to a ton of questions I should see if I'm even in the right place. I've had a 24 saliva test and then a 24 hour urine test which both showed low cortisol levels but then I had the acth stimulation test which turned out to be completely normal. Is it possible to still have some kind of adrenal or endocrine issue with a normal acth test?
1376011 tn?1278780384 usually when we do urine cortisol, the urine creatinine is also tested - the cortisol may be pending still.
Avatar m tn I was supposed to take a urine test for a cortisol deficiency like a week ago, but my sleeping patterns have been kind of messed up. I went to sleep yesterday around 7AM, and woke up around 6PM. It's 6AM right now, and I'm about to leave for school. I really need to turn in this test, so I thought I'd do it today. I'll be going to sleep either after school, or tonight, but will this mess up my results? I know cortisol changes during the day, but I really need to get this done.
Avatar f tn also took a 24 hour urine test for the adrenals. This is a big endocrine place. Looks like the results would be back and we would know something. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Put in the centrifuge right away? You only had one test for cortisol - blood - what about urine, saliva? They should also test you several times to see you over time.
Avatar f tn No, I was off the cortef for 2 weeks prior to testing. Yes, it shows a normal rhythm, but the morning levels are WAY too low. Optimal cortisol levels for morning should be at the upper end of the range so a person has energy to get out of bed. I have no idea if I'm primary or secondary and I've never had an ACTH test. I refuse to see endos because they have no training in adrenal fatigue.
Avatar f tn I have hypothyroidism, and she did the 24 hour urine test for the cortisol. My cortisol levels were extremely LOW!!! I thought they were supposed to be HIGH with my problem? She said normal was around 6,and mine is a 2. I don't go see her until April, so I don't understand all of this. She did say that I don't have a pituitary tumor. Can't do an MRI because I have a bullet in my head.
Avatar f tn The moral of the story is test with a lot of forms, see what works for you -some of my buds love the midnight serum cortisol, I did well with midnight saliva tests, and others do well with urine tests - so you have to test to see what works for you. Most docs want a couple of forms before they diagnose you. It is hard to be patient when you free like crud.
Avatar n tn My doc tests my dose on HC using a 24 hour urinary free cortisol test - but even he says there is NO good test to know exactly how to test the levels due to how the medication metabolizes. Best way is how you feel - not to wired, not to tired - no symptoms of Cushing's, none of Addison's. Until the long acting cortef is approved in the US, it is hard to dose correctly as well.
