I have been off vicodin for 5 full days ( except for crumbs I and dust remnants I can find anywhere I used to crush em up...I like to snort them).).I know...
My friends said they would help with w/d's because it tricks your brain into thinking it has opiates but they are really not an opiate and are not addictive. Now, when I do oc's i crush and snort them and my friend said to snort them. The only thing i found online was not to mix these with paxil ( i'm on 10mg and weening off) any advice? I don't want to ruin my "feeling ok" by adding another addiction to my plate ya know.
This is prewritten for anyone who is beginning, or planning on beginning, a cold turkey withdrawal to opiates. This includes drugs such as tramadol (Ultracet and Ultram) codeine (Tylenol #3, #4), Darvocet, Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and derivatives), Oxycodone (Endocet, Percocet, Oxycontin), Morphine, Demerol. Fentanyl, and Dilaudud. There are many other opiates not listed, so if you don’t see it listed, you can still use these suggestions if it’s an opiate based addiction.
If I were, I'm sure that MS Contin would help a great deal, but I'd just chew it or snort it, so I'm glad now that I declined the offer. I WAS wondering about your Pain-Relief regimine, however. As you've been on the MS Contin for quite some time (I assume)-- do you still get any mood elevating side effects, or has your body chemistry adjusted to the point that it is simply pain relief?
Ultram and Ultracet do contain Tramadol. But, Ultracet is Tramadol plus Tylenol. Most Ultram contains 50mg of Tramadol. Ultracet is 37.5mg Tramadol plus 325mg of Tylenol. Please, look at your source again.
That's when it really turned bad for us, I didn't want to chew or take percs or tabs anymore, but only SNORT SNORT SNORT. So now I come to the time where I want to stop again, like I did before, but I know the habit I have now is way more than I had before. Which is where all this fear and doubt comes from.
In my case, when I would get run down from lack of sleep, my tonsils would swell and I'd feel like **** until I either got sleep or an antibiotic or both. Ultracet is apap (acetaminophen) and tramadol, which, though it ISN'T classified as a narcotic, is STILL highly addictive, and you can find horror stories about detoxing from it on any given thread in this forum. So WATCH it. That buzz you feel is telling you sumthin'.....I fyou don't need the remainder of the RX---PITCH THEM.

None of these apply to benzodiazepine based addictions. These addictions should never be dealt with by going cold turkey.
8 (August 1999) Kicking Psychological Dependency Dopamine makes you feel good and some people go to great lengths to get more. Ravers take Ecstasy and addicts snort cocaine just to tickle their dopamine receptors. One of the biggest obstacles to getting off drugs, former abusers say, is psychological dependency on the dopamine kick. French researchers think they have the answer.
I would yell at the kids inconsistantly and had terrible mood swings, the poor things never knew what to expect. After I yelled, I would go in the bathroom snort a pill and come out all smiles, no explanation just ok lets play now! I remember when I first got clean, one of the things I wrote in my gratitude journal was that I was thankful that now when the kids got on my nerves I would still yell at them but this time I would go in the bathroom and PRAY.
