Trileptal carbamazepine

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal carbamazepine

trileptal

Avatar m tn Whereas 6 x 200mg of Carbamazepine used to keep things relatively under control, now I am at 17 x 200mg (3,400mg daily) and still suffer from unimaginable pain. My question is: What is the most effective dosing schedule should I use for Carbamazepine? Would that be 4 pills 4 times per day? Or perhaps 5 pills 3 times per day? Or 3 pills 5 times per day (i.e. - Getting up in the middle of the night for a dose.)? I feel right now my schedule is rather willy-nilly...
Avatar f tn i'm being put on Carbamazepine, I'm on the pill......anyone know if it'll stop my pill working? some sites say it MAY interact with it.....talk about unhelpful!
471949 tn?1236904026 My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn You need to get coverage and get back on Tegretol. If you are not working you would be eligible for Medicaid. You can get emergency Medicaid by going to the local emergency room. If you are working there is a program called the "Medicaid Buy in for Working People with Disabilities" in most states where you can work and still be eligible for Medicaid as long as you have a disability and of course bipolar qualifies as a disability.
Avatar f tn t listed. Meds like Abilify, Trileptal, Tegretol, Seroquel, Resperidol......I think those are some that should be added! Thanks!
Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply. I have never cmopletely blacked out, only partially. The hand shaking was really weird, and seizure was the first thing that came to mind. Do my symptoms sound like something that could casue this? What does this medication do that you mentioned above?
1108262 tn?1273179266 Trileptal is Oxcarbezepine a good mood stabilizer.I am on Carbamazepine which is also very similar and effective for bipolar disorder.if your Pdoc has started it,then it is a good descision as on Trileptal you need not undergo regular blood tests initially or later to check your white cell count. You will have to take this for a long time if you respond well to this medication which is generally well tolerated.
5544493 tn?1369608788 ll need a typical or atypical antipsychotic (Seroquel and Abilify are both atypicals). Carbamazepine interacts with a lot of other things, and oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) seems like a better choice, even though it's off label. In the end, there's a huge number of meds that can be used in BP, and it really depends on the individual how well any particular one will work. Check out the crazymeds page (just google it) to see a lot of info on different options for BP.
Avatar m tn I have been offered Lamotragin, Lithium and Carbamazepine as three possible options for mood stabalising drugs along with the continuation of my dose of citalopram. I am 17 would like to know if anyone else has had any experiences with any of the above three, as I have to decide on which one I would like to use. So much as I can see, they are all non addictive, all require blood tests and all involve avoiding alcohol (which I have been doing for some time now anyway).
Avatar n tn Have you been taking any anticonvulsant medication ? Carbamazepine (Tegretol) is a particularly useful one. But there are others also. Trigeminal Neuralgia may take a long time to be controlled.
Avatar f tn ve found a combination of Doxepin and Carbamazepine work really well. I know about it something wicked if I forget to take my morning dose of Carbamazepine though. There are that many drugs out there that no one should really suffer in this day and age.
Avatar f tn Hi all, saw MS nurse yesterday and told her about my muscles cramping and leg and foot spasms. She has suggested I start carbamazepine to see if it helps. Im wondering if anyone has been on this and if it works. What sort of side effects it has? I see this would be used in trigeminal neuralgia too, which I think Ive had a couple of attacks already.
645390 tn?1338555377 I hope it is okay I have posted often lately, but I really need some help tonight. I am in SEVERE pain, has been getting worse all weekend, it is almost unbearable tonight. It is the right side of my face, has been around 2 weeks this time. Usually it goes away in about 2-3 days, but not this time. I think it is trigeminal neuralgia, have had it off and on for many years, but it has taken a huge change for the worse lately. I thought it was improving, but I was wrong.
1204528 tn?1588786333 Maybe the carbamazepine, did you try it's derivative with fewer side effects called oxcarbazepine? Might as well be symptom of anxiety.
Avatar n tn For TN that is not due to a specific cause, treatments that have been helpful include as you mentioned elavil and lyrica, as well as other medications such as trileptal, carbamazepine, and neurontin. The latter 3 were originally developed as a treatment for seizures but have been found very useful in TN. Other less commonly used medications include phenytoin (dilantin), a seizure medication, and antidepressants such as cymbalta.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor about possibly increasing the pain medication. I was first on gabapentin which didn't work for me. Changed to tegretol which made me zombie-like and also didn't work for me. Now I'm on trileptal. It was a slow process, but the doctor increased the dosage until the pain was gone -- I now take 600 mg 3 times a day. I was told that Motrin or any type of similar pain killer doesn't work on this type of pain. Again, speak to your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn I have had TN (Trigeminal Neuralgia) now for about 17 years. Sharp stabbing pain at times right side of face, usually centered around upper right teeth/top of lip/bottom of nose area. Have had two Gamma Knife procedures done 10/05 and then 10/08 after pain had returned early '08. Pain has returned this spring and continues. Recent MRI shows no changes from before.
Avatar f tn I take Carbamazepine for ATN and have a new, rare reoccurring rash on my legs. My Dr. says they are not related, but when I researched it there were a few articles that indicated Carbamazepine could cause the rash.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar f tn Hi, sorry you're experiencing all those symptoms, migraines can cause all sorts of problems, i was prescribed Carbamazepine for L'hermittes symptoms but i didn't tolerate it very well, I did experience dry mouth/throat along with few other unpleasant side effects, It makes sense to start with the lower dose and build up but I would discuss with your GP again if your not sure.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
