The truth about tramadol is that it is a narcotic. It is a synthetic opiate mixed with a touch of antidepressant. It stays in your system longer and is a really long and difficult detox requiring a careful taper. I don't know how long you have been on it, but unless you want to go through hell all over again you need to start tapering off. If it has been less than a week or two just flush them down the toilet before you become dependant.

This has happened with Demerol, Diluidid,Darvocet,Hydrocodone and Tramadol. I can take Tylenol #3 and morphine (post op in the hospital) with out any problems. Sometimes,if I take one of the itchy ones with Atarax and benadryl I'm ok for awhile, and then the itching will eventually get too bad and I will have to switch to something else. Tylenol #3 dosen"t work very well for the pain, so my PCP is always looking for something else to try.

Morphine is not the king of all narcotics you may want to do some research. I don't know what you said in my post, someone had it removed. I was trying to help people who are in pain management on more than 30mg a day or one day may require more than 30mg. Such as those in intractable incurable pain.

Can I start the Lyrica while still on the patches and Tramadol and How can I reduce the Tramadol while continuing Fentayl with the Lyrica with minimalTramadol withdrawal symptoms.

ve been using a lot because I already have a high tolerance to opiates, what I wanted to know is if withdrawal symtoms of Morphine are any worse than Tramadol, because I think I may need to progress to that eventually. I have permanent nerve damage.

Hi, I hurt myself over 3 years ago and have never been really diagnosed. I was given tramadol, still on and the last 3 months morphine sulfate er. It did help a lot, but I decided I don't want to be on it. On my own, I cut the 2nd dose in half. I am also taking valium. I want the morphine out of me. Can anyone come up or knows a plan to get off of it? I tried 1/4 for the 2nd dose one day and really felt the detox and went back to 1/2. Any ideas?

Is there a difference between Tradol, Tramadol and Tramacet? Have they all the same effectiveness in a 50mg tablet or capsule?

hi and welcome NewFaith! i really don't have experience with morphine WDs but i was taking 15+ Norco daily for many years.....went CT and it was doable but not fun at all....as you know....just try and be patient with yourself and get plenty of rest....drink lots of fluids....ensure, gatorade....boost....soup....and if you haven't heard of the Thomas recipe, check it out at bottom right corner...this site is an awesome place for info and especially for support from others....

So I went to the e.r. last night with a migraine and they administered morphine. And gave me a prescription for tremidol. Im a little spectical about it. Has any one else been prescribed this.

Tramadol is bad because doctors prescribe it with impunity because it is sold to them as a non-narcotic. The problem is it binds to the same brain receptors that narcotics do, so our bodies perceive it as a narcotic and become addicted to it. Many people who have taken it have become horribly addicted to it and have a booger of a time getting off of it. Many have said that it was more difficult for them to quit the Tramadol than it was for them to quit opiates.

I used to take 10-15 perc 10s a day and have tapered down and have not taken any in a week. I took some Nucynta which is similar to tramadol for a couple days to help with symptoms. Does anyone think I have just prolonged the physical withdrawls till I stop the tramadol tomorrow or it will be ok. I def did not feel good for a couple days but I'm not sure if I just prolonged it. But I am certain it had to do with the additive effect of the morphine with the valium. I take the valium at night with the morphine because without it I wake up stiff (not as stiff when the epidural injection is working but when it wears off it is pretty bad). Found out muscle stiffness is a side effect of the morphine. The Percocet causes a brief period of euphoria where I feel super happy.

today i saw a pain mngmt dr, he took me off hydrocodone 7.7/500mg, and tramadol 50mg, i was allowed 4 vicodins a day and up to 8 tramadol. i have an appt to see him next thursday to, He put me on morphine sulfate IR 1m mg, 1 tab 2x's a day and morphine sulfate 30 mg CR 1 tab 2x's a day, I hope i get better and longer relief. My question will these new meds help any thoughts?

In Aug 2009 I went through the surgery to fuse those two levels together and since have had some relief. However I still deal with chronic pain every day. Just this Monday my pain doctor did the trail for the MyStim implant in my back. The purpose of this is to feel tingling sensations rather than pain. Sadly this trial run did not work and it was a nightmare. My doctor has since rudely said that I was reaching the point of not being able to be treated.

I have many, many allergies, including drug allergies and sensitivities. I have made numerous trips to ER with a reaction. I keep benadryl on hand when trying new medications or when I have a reaction to environmental substances.

In terms of drowsiness from opiates, I have found that codeine forte, when using 8 per day (4 gram limit on the paracetamol component), makes me a bit drowsy by late in the day. The drowsiness remained, even after using it under doctor's advice for about 4 weeks. Codeine has never given me much satisfaction in so far as pain relief goes: some people simply don't effectively metabolise it into morphine.

I was given my first dose of Lyrica last night and I slept brilliantly for once, today I've been very sleepy and when I took a nap I couldn't stand up when I awoke because my hip just flared up so badly I couldn't even walk. I'll do my best..... Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol.
