Topiramate generic problems

Common Questions and Answers about Topiramate generic problems

topamax

Avatar f tn I take 100mg Topamax (actually I take the generic Topiramate) once per day. I've been on and off of this for a few years. But started taking the generic last year due to the insurance company making me switch. Anyway, when I switched to the generic, I have since started having a lot of pressure behind my left eye and into my cheek. Also, sometimes behind my right eye, but that's rarely. It's daily behind my left eye. This has been going on for a few months.
Avatar m tn I want too if someone can plz answer TOPAMAX TABLETS IS IT THE SAME AS TOPIRAMATE BECAUSE I AM IN EUROPE AND THIS IS THE ONLY BRAND AND UNDER THIS NAME HERE AND WILL IT HELP ME WITH WEIGHT LOSS
Avatar m tn There is a discount card by the company too. Insurance has a copay. Otherwise, Trokendi is very expensive while Topiramate is generic and cheap. I hope this works for you. I really believe they will and have a lot of hope for you. Feel free to message me if you like. Let me know if you tried this and if it helped. I had so much trouble with my migraines as well. You probably have a variant too.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter was started on topiramate for migraines, 25mg at bedtime. She has only taken 2 doses and is already complaining of feeling like she is in a "fog", is having trouble recalling names and certain words, and feels like her brain is moving very slowly. Her pupils are also dilated. Her doctor said that these are "normal" side effects and "should" go away in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn The drug is also used in clinical trials to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.[15] A pilot study suggests that Topiramate is possibly effective against infantile spasms.[16] A study by Harvard recommends topiramate as an effective treatment in the prevention of Periventricular leukomalacia in preterm infants after an hypoxic-ischemic injury.[17] In May 2006 the U.S. National Institutes of Health web site clinicaltrials.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Anyone on this medication? I was diagnosed with cluster headaches when I was 15 and after being on every kind of muscle relaxer under the sun with them not working I gave up and learned to deal with the headaches. Ever since I was put on Extavia I have been having horrible headaches and I really don't know if the DMD is the cause of the worsening or not but ibuprofen was not cutting it anymore.
Avatar n tn Hi...this is not really all that new, and it is the generic of TOPAMAX...this can take 2 weeks to adjust to....so u may feel extremely tired and off balance with this.... I did lose weight, and not sure how it works, but I gained it all back and I am still on the med....so it is not a weight loss miracle. I have noticed a change in taste as well as smells...so I know that did affect what I eat.... Good luck and again be advised most do need an adjustment period to this med.
Avatar m tn Since I am not sure what the branded names are for these in India, here are the generic names for the most common anti-epileptics for seizures of the gelastic type: carbamazepine, clobazam, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine and topiramate. These medications rarely stop the seizures completely but reduce the frequency and severity of them. I hope this helps, my prayers are with you and your son.
Avatar n tn I am a 40 yr old female with a history of migraines. I've always used Topamax as a maintenance rx & Imitrex injections as a rescue rx. My migraines have been under control for over a yr. In the last 3 months, my headaches have returned. I have also noticed that memory (short & long term) & my cognitive skills have been affected. I.E. I can't remember parts of conversations that I only had 5 minutes ago.
Avatar f tn Mylan Pharmaceuticals was recently granted final approval for generic topiramate 25, 100, and 200 mg tablets and sprinkle capsules by the FDA for sale in the US. 50 mg tablets were granted tentative approval. [4] The only patent left for topiramate in the U.S. is for pediatric use; this patent will expire on February 28, 2009. The drug is also used in clinical trials to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
1104710 tn?1258034139 ok ok , I started topiramate for 2 moths now, the first month the cravings was less, and after a month the doc, change the dosage, now I'm on 50 twice a day, I don't think its working. I haven't lost any weight, does this meds take time?? Should I been seeing result ? am I wasting my time? I really haven't been experiencing the side effects, little bit at first, but nothing to cry about. If anybody have any advice please any is helpful!
Avatar n tn How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?
Avatar n tn I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do? Signed.... Tami....
Avatar f tn You can call the pharmacist who filled your prescription. Often they are better able to answer these types of questions than your doctor because they have access to all the databases available that contain information about drug interactions and so on. They are also much easier to get a hold of than most doctors.
Avatar f tn I'm day 5 into taking Topiramate 25mg at night for migraine prevention. My migraine is a daily pressure headache at the base of my skull. I have Chiari malformation type 1 but neurosurgeon says I don't need surgery, thankfully. He and my neurologist advised i try Topiramate as Amitriptyline didn't suit me (made me suicidal) and my asthma prevents them trying me on beta blockers.
Avatar f tn You can also talk to your doctor about Topamax (generic is Topiramate). I was on that for several years and did better than anything else but my neuro wanted me off it, so I agreed to go with the Duloxetine. There are options.
Avatar m tn However, I was diagnosed with silent migraine or migraine equivalent by my neuro. I was given Topiramate and Maxalt. The Maxalt did absolutely nothing and the Topiramate put me through two weeks of constant dizziness and vertigo not to mention a couple of panic attacks. I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine.
Avatar f tn 125mcg levythyroxin( for hypothyroidism), 150 mg Trazedone (to help me sleep), 50 mg topiramate 2x per day (to prevent my almost daily migraines - only have been on this treatment for a month now), (& when needed 40mg relpax for my breakthrough migraines). Have recently begun seeing tracers upon waking up. Triple vision of things and tracers. Iam a life long sufferer of migraines. I have been in and out of hospitals for my migraines.
Avatar m tn Since coming back home, I started to have migraine like headaches along with other post mTBI symptoms (dizziness, cognative problems, etc). Anyway, my neurologist is treating me currently with 25mg Nortriptyline and 25mg Topamax at night. They have helped (more so the Topamax). The first week and a half I noticed absolutely no side effects of the Topamax. Today I have some slight hand trembling and also felt like my speech wasn't right. (Like I couldn't think of the right word).
Avatar f tn I've been taking Topiramate, which is the generic for Topamax for several years for peripheral neuropathy... I already had my thyroid condition when I started taking the Topiramate, but it has not affected my thyroid condition in any way, at all. Topamax does have some unwanted side effects for some people, so it's not effective for everyone. Your doctor should know this and be willing to address the issue...
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar f tn Mylan is the generic that messed me up. It took a few weeks before I started having problems sleeping. My levels kept coming back normal and that is why the doctor says its not the medication. The pharmacist and the drug company tell me that it is the medication. I don't know who to believe anymore. All I know is I feel terrible and cant sleep.
Avatar f tn I started suffering from cluster headaches after coming off brith control so I got prescribed topiramate and at the beginning, it was fine. But around the second week when I started taking 50 mg, I got a yeast infection, which was treated. Now I have the worst case of vaginal dryness which makes sex painful and causes friction and sometimes bleeding. I don’t have the normal amount of lubrication I have down there, in fact I am completely dry which is very abnormal for me.
Avatar n tn less than a week after i started synthroid i had major problems and then i switched to levothyroxine the generic and still have problems. everyone says its not the med but i was hypo for years untreated and never had any problems and as soon as i started the meds i had problems and still do. my problems are the opposite of yours.
Avatar n tn If you are taking generic, try switching to a name brand Levoxyl. I am certainly not an authority on the subject. I'm recently hypo after RAI. Only been on Levoxyl for 30 days. I've heard that so many have problems with the generic that I decided to skip that part and request brand name to start with.
Avatar m tn Ever since I got my female dog fixed she's had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
Avatar m tn I take 150 mg of topiramate for cronic cluster headaches every night. Sometimes this causes me to have wake up with pain/tingling in my feet as a side effect. I find relief from this pain by using a "hidow" electronic massager that uses electricity on the bottoms of my feet. I'm not sure if that is relevant but that's what I had just started using when the pain in my feet was so intense.
Avatar n tn He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.
