Avatar n tn If I have been diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder, whom shall I see?
1450085 tn?1298941702 I know a couple of people that have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and some of them do suffer from anxiety/depression. However I would not self diagnose myself if I were you. If you are not currently seeing a psychatrist I would suggest that you consider seeing one. You need to get to the bottom of what is causing your anxiety and a therapist can help you do that. You can overcome anxiety. Make sure you are eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise.
1618236 tn?1408072214 I have written to you earlier on my Borderline Personality disorder and you wrote back but am not following you on what you said : One formulation of borderline personality disorder is that it involves a deficit in the "self soothing" function - the ability to make oneself feel OK/safe. Hence the symptoms of heightened sensitivity, anxiety, and irritability.
Avatar f tn Hypomania (in the case of co-occurring borderline personality disorder and bipolar II disorder) may precede the emergence of borderline personality disorder in some patients, may surface a number of years later than when borderline personality disorder is first recognized, and in still others may become manifest at about the same time one is first diagnosed with borderline personality disorder." ("American Journal of Physchiatry")...
728480 tn?1312059930 t experience standard psychosis). For a person with borderline personality disorder, however, part of the cause of it is a traumatic childhood experience. And for ptsd, a person would not have acquired it otherwise but the traumatic experiences caused brain changes.
1419416 tn?1283020018 Hi all. I'm new here so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. (Please correct if needed). I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good websites with information regarding the differences between bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder? I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder for over ten years, but I read a little bit about borderline and I'm starting to question my diagnosis. Any advise/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
1756969 tn?1332437163 for bipolar but unfortunately not for borderline, but if you google DSM borderline personality disorder a few sites come up and give you definitions. One of the main differences between the two is moods for Borderline last hours/ maybe a day but for typical bipolar last days to weeks. Good luck.
944643 tn?1418214422 I was just reading about Borderline Personality Disorder, and this disorder explains me so perfectly...I could be the poster child for it! Now u guys know I haven't gotten a BP dx yet, so I'm not 100% sure I have it, but pretty sure I have type 2 BP, rapid cycling. Is there a possibility I could have BOTH disorders? Or is it more likely I would only have one of them? I'm just wondering ur opinions cuz once I read about the BPD I was shocked!
429432 tn?1343594190 In psychiatry, borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder characterised by extreme 'black and white' thinking, mood swings, emotional reasoning, disrupted relationships and difficulty in functioning in a way society accepts as normal. The name comes from the DSM-IV-TR; the ICD-10 in Europe has an equivalent called Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
Avatar f tn Although it is possible to have major depression and borderline personality disorder (as jdtm mentioned). Perhaps you could do a google search of borderline personality disorder and see if you think it is similar to your friend.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder. Well, one doctor says Borderline, another will say Bipolar, they dont know I guess. I just know that nobody will accept me as their patient. I have cutting issues & suicidal thoughts that are strong. I am not in treatment now...mainly because doctors either drop me, hospitalize me involuntarily, or refer me. Florida isn't great for mental health treatment (in my experience). Anyway, I have been told I have delusions.
Avatar f tn My Cardiologist and 3 Drs at the hospital did extensive research and were unable to find any suitable medication for me, to assist in the treatment of my depression - I have since had 3 seperate admissions to the psych unit at the hospital - apparently I have Borderline Personality Disorder (which I was diagnosed with 15 years ago and I have been told it is like alcoholism - it is always there) alongside the depression and am suffering through grief at the passing away recently of my mother.
Avatar n tn i have borderline personality disorder with blackouts is there anything you no to stop them or any medication that will help.
Avatar f tn There are many different types of personality disorders. My mom has borderline personality disorder. The symptoms that she possesses are: Impulsive and risky behavior , unstable mood, and fear of being alone. Were you recently diagnosed with one?
Avatar n tn Borderline personality disorder is not a result of brain injury. It is considered a personality disorder. He would have to have been diagnosed with BPD before getting the concusions to be considered true BPD. You will get more and better information from looking up Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), which is the result of concussions and can look and feel a lot like BPD or bipolar disorder depending on the area of the brain affected. There are medication that help some people.
1756969 tn?1332437163 hi everyone, i was just given a rx for this drug listed above for supposingly my borderline personality disorder but as i am researching it says its for bi polar disorder or seizures etc.. can someone who is licensed or qualified tell me what this drug is and what it helps for. I have wide mood swings up and down, not bi polar state but i get irritable quite intensely but never know when they will hit. and than can you also tell me if this drug causes weight gain and increased appetite.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your comments and expertise. I understand everything you are saying but I guess I am having a problem accepting the catagorization of clumping circumstances under the whole personality disorder theory. For example, when I was Psychologically tested for Conversion disorder, the test asked a question of whether or not I had ever gotten angry and hung up on anyone while taking on the phone. Being the honest person that I am, I truthfully answered, YES.
Avatar f tn Now, whenever I get upset about something, which is really only during PMS I fear I have borderline personality disorder and become somewhat obsessed with it. Same with when I have some type of weird feeling, I search and search trying to find what it is. I am realizing, that I may not have borderline, but bad anxiety at these times. Yet, I can't escape the feeling. I have a good job, I am going to school, a happy marriage, I am close with my family.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in my early 20's, but managed to control it with DBT, and the diagnosis was dropped However, I lost my father 3 years ago which triggered a Manic Episode, and ended with a Depressive Episode 3 months later. My diagnosis changed to Borderline Personality Disorder with Bipolar Features. I had another Manic Episode a few months ago and was hospitalised for 8 weeks which again ended the depression and psychosis.
4658567 tn?1364142123 t have a good enough grasp to define borderline personality disorder so I will not attempt to describe it for desire not to perpetuate any stereotypes. Keep in mind no one person is going to have every difficulty and a lot of what you hear in the news media or from the grapevine tend to be stereotypes.
