I quit the Topiramate and had severe withdrawal symptoms that put me in the E.R. Blood work, urinalysis, chest xray, and head CT w/out contrast all checked out fine. I then had a follow up with the neuro who looked extremely puzzled. I told him that I think that anxiety may be the root of my problems. Was it right for me to tell him this? Is it possible for worry and anxiety to really mess someone up this bad? He gave me free Lexapro but I refuse to take it.
I had a lumbar puncture 2 months ago & am still miserable. The day that I had it done I had such severe vommitting and vertigo that I had to be rushed to ER. They gave me a couple IVs and anti vertigo & nausea meds. I was in bed for 6 days before feeling better. I never got back to "normal" but good enough to work and function, but now the past few weeks I have had so much pressure in my head, neck, and shoulders that all I can do is lay on the couch.
He has recently given me numerous trial medication to see if my current state and headaches would improve including apo-acetazolamide (250 mg) and ratio-topiramate (25mg). With acetazolamide not working, and topiramate worsening my state. After being on topiramate for 3 days, I had a general feeling of confusion, disorientation, trouble with my memory, and trouble concentrating.
I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds. What is a girl to do?

But, now the eye shaking and the increased pressure is scaring me. Is this likely side effects from the Topiramate? I have also noticed that when my eye is shaking that sometimes I also feel a shaking sensation in the back of my head, like almost like my brain is shaking just in the back near the neck. Sound weird? Hard to explain. It's not the same sensation I feel with vertigo. I can't get an appt w/the eye dr until next month...they are booked.
As for intraorbital pressure and ICP, I have been to my normal ophthalmologist and had my intraorbital pressure measured and my optic disks checked for papilledema and my pressure have been a little up once but not enough to worry and no papilledema.
I have also tried multiple medications for migraines and none of it touched it.
How does Rolaids or tums help with the tingling sensations caused by taking topiramate?
t help you if your taking medication for your seizures due to me having a relative that has them. It is not safe do to take both birth control and Topiramate due to them mixing up. Topiramate would make the birth control less useful , so it'll be just a regular pill your taking, it won't protect you due to the Topiramate.

I was going to a neurologist that specialized in migraines and she gave me Topiramate which totally took away the vertigo and double vision. I get a very slight bit but not the kind that knocks you over now and only a few seconds. I was also told to go to an ENT to rule out Meniers disease and they checked my hearing and looked in my ear and did a CT to rule out a tumor behind the ear called acoustic neuroma. They were all negative. If positive for the Meniers they give you water pills.
Other possibilities are benign intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, low vitamin B12 and vitamin D, and nerve compression in the neck.
The diagnosis of hemiplegic migraines is made based on symptoms and by exclusion of above mentioned causes. Treatment is through vitamin and electrolyte supplementation, topiramate, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Please discuss all this with your doctor. Take care!
I am a 36 year young female and was told I have a right parietal meningeoma of 4mm. It is supposed to be in my frontal lobe. About a week later an EEG was done and indicated sharp discharges in both hemispheres of my brain. I have been having horrible headaches since at least 10/20 of this year that get to the point of nausea. They are sharp and never completely go away. Just vary in intensity to more bareable at times than others.

They also notice the low blood pressure and they did her blood pressure lying it was 109/63 which is pretty normal for her. Sitting it went down to 98/63 and standing it was 91/68. They did send her back home after the fluids and the meds. Now she has had a non stop headache and dizziness and nausea since Oct 26. Her family doctor took her off the Nadolol because she felt the dose was too high and with Tori's blood pressure dropping it was dangerous.
I was sitting on the edge of my bed and then suddenly my vision went all red, like I was wearing red sunglasses, and I fainted and fell onto the for and was out for maybe a minute. when I came to again my vision seemed fine but I was disoriented. I did not have a cluster during this last night but this morning when I woke up I did. I'm used to the clusters and the feet tingling but have never experienced the red vision.
I am not sure if anyone can help me out with this but I have a friend that is on Topamax (Topiramate) for seizures and she just found out she is 7 weeks pregnant. She had been pregnant before but had a miscarriage. She is very scared because she can’t find any information on this medication to tell her if or if not this medication will hurt the baby. She has seen the OB/GYN and they told her they are not sure and she needs to speak with her Neurologists.
Has anyone taken this? What does it make u feel like and does it actually work for migraine?

A moderate drug interaction occurs between Topamax and yaz. Efficacy of oral contraception may be decreased by concomitant use with topiramate. You have to use additional birth control measure. Also There may be changes in the bleeding patterns.

I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.
