Topamax and ultram

Common Questions and Answers about Topamax and ultram

topamax

Avatar n tn I have heard that ultram is good for that but then you are addicted to the ultram. I also heard neurontin is helpful and that topomax is similar so I wondered if anyone had tried topomax for withdrawal.
Avatar n tn I am on Duragesic pain patch, Ultram, Lortab 10 mg, and Lyrica 200mg. I noticed weight gain and swelling in my legs and feet with Lyrica and wanted to know if Topamax could replace Lyrica.
454371 tn?1221297385 The pharmacist told me that you are at a higher risk of seizure and serotonin sydrome if you take ultram and a SSRI and commented about wondering why the doctor prescribed it. My NEW doctor today told me there is no way you should use them both, and told me to ditch (flush) the ultram and that someone on an SSRI or SSNI should in no way be taking that medication with ultram or ultracet. I flushed mine down the toilet today.
193953 tn?1272075026 Well, to all that responded, I would like to thank you. They were very confusing as they differed alot, but nonetheless, they were answers. I just don't know what to do for pain. I have tried it all. Allergic to NSAIDs, Ultram and Demoral. I don't know what else to do. I have even tried muscle relaxers that the doc prescribed that have antesthetic effects, but do you think one of them would work for me? NO!!! I couldn't have something that worked if it wasn't addicting!
Avatar f tn I just read someone was getting off of vic and ultram. My doc just gave me Ultram I take oxy now and am trying to start a tapper off plan. Anyway I did not know ultram was also something you can get hooked on. He told me to take 4 50mgs a day. Also to take my oxy 5 times I take the 20'mgs. I am going to start to tapper tom a.m. I dont want to take the ultram if I can get hooked on it also. Please help!! I don't know weather to take it or not.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 200 mg of Ultram for 6 months for herniated discs and leg pain. I was under the impression that they were a non-narcotic pain reliever and weren't addictive. However, I found out I'm pregnant last week so I discontinued the medication. This caused me to experience severe withdrawal symptoms along with the back pain. I was concerned the withdrawal would cause a miscarriage so I continued to take them at half the usual dose.
Avatar f tn I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.
975514 tn?1324997938 DnnTrry- I switched from Lyrica to Topamax completely mostly because of the weight gain and cost. Lyrica and Topamax are both anti-seizure meds and do not have any major interactions, but I understand your apprehension. Also, side effects from Topamax are most crippling usually when you increase too fast. I hope your doctor didn't place you on 50mg right off the bat??? That dosage is sure to give you some discomfort.
Avatar m tn good drug and bad drug both are addictive. Hrdo gives more pain releif with less bad effects but both have them. Tramadol ultram is just no good.
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
5857909 tn?1375628784 I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.
Avatar f tn I took Ultram for a while and getting off of the medication was horrible....I have chills and sweating, restless legs and creepy crawlies...I could not concentrate and my heart was pounding in my chest for 4 days stright...It was the worst...If you can talk to your doctor before taking this medicine...espically the er ultram....It is highly addictive and despite what people say it is hard to get off of.
975514 tn?1324997938 I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.
Avatar f tn t bore you with the details. Anyway, I had a friend who would run out of meds early and use her Ultram to keep her from going through WDs until her next refill. I've tried that, and nope, didn't help AT ALL! I am not knocking anybody's DOC, but if someone could explain it to me, I would really appreciate it, because I can't for the life of me understand why it's a CS. I am a nurse and in my state, it is a CIV narcotic.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.
Avatar f tn Oh and vistaril too.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?
Avatar f tn I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.
471344 tn?1228755027 Thank you from your input. I am 32 weeks today and I have taken ultram the entire time. She seems to be fine and every doctor visit has been perfect. He says everything will be fine but this is my frist child and I am getting closer to my due date and I have heard things (online) about baby's being born with seizures from Ultram and withdrawls. I have only taken 50mg a day with this baby. Should I try and stop prior to my due date to avoid withdrawl or seizures?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!
Avatar m tn hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???
Avatar m tn But, I just cant stand the back pain, the leg restlessness and pain, now its in my shoulders and arms as well. I want to go off the pin pills. I will take your advice about the gatoraide, even though it tastes like sweat :) The tramaatol, makes me sick. I cant get out of the tub anymore without prayer. I take hot showers and when I can find it my hot pad. I started swimming and water walking now. Made me feel worse last night. My one doctor gave me a sleep aide that helps.
Avatar m tn Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....
