10 with weight gain ,galactorrhea right breasts 5 years ,blood work just done 9-4-13 prolactin levels4.1-estradiol 29.6(total hysterectomy and oopherectomy on estrace 1 mg),tsh 0.711,non fasting (2hours after lunch and a large coke) blood glucose 72, hot flashes ,Moody, diarrhea,left side pain,migraines often( on topamax 50 bid),severe fatigue what is going on ...

I continued to have blood tests fasting and non fasting and the prolactin levels were still high. I was referred to a Endocrinologist and she found a nodule on my thyroid and now I am getting a ultra-sound on my thyroid. I often wake up with nigh sweats and feel tired but I always though from working odd hours and my job. Any advice would help.. I feel like i am getting to the point of not knowing whats wrong or if triple the amount of prolactin in males is dangerous..

I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.

After surgery my prolactin level went down quite a bit, but it never normalized. It is still elevated and runs around 60-70 nowadays. I have annual MRI's and there is nothing to indicate that I have a prolactinoma. I am panhypopit and take rGH, hydrocortisone, liiothyronine, levothyroxine, and DDAVP. I have opted not to take sex hormones. I guess that there could be small prolactinoma somewhere. But if there isn't; how my prolactin level could remain elevated if I am panhypopit?

I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.

I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.

I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.

Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

Hello ,I have detected with high level of prolactin 48.2 ng/ml and very slight enlargement in ovaries due to polysycsts.I still have regualr menstrual cycle and dont have any physical sign of high level of prolactin like liquid discharge from breast etc.I am very very stressful for a year so is it stress causing high prolactin?? may i still have the chances to get pregnant before treating these health problem??

All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?

I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.

Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!

hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???

They perscribed me birth control pills and ordered a series of test like TSH, Free T4 and prolactin. I began the birth control pills and the lactation stopped. I didn't equate that beginning the birth control pill was related to the the halt of lactation until about a year later. They ordered the tests again and prolactin was normal. My endocrinologist however suspected that I needed to be off the pill and take the test again.

All of them came in normal range except for Prolactin and Macro Prolactin with slight elevation 40ng/mL. I am currently on anti-depressant (Celexa and Atarax) so my doctor said it might be the medication that elevate my prolactin. He told me to come back in 4 months to reassess and told me not to worry because Prolactin can be controlled by medication. Is there anything else that I miss? Please let me know.

Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....

I've been taking Topamax 50mg-100mg daily and I have been also taking Yasmin. The two were told to me to be ineffective when used together, so I've been using a back up method of condoms. I'm unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?

9, LH 21, and Prolactin 9. The endocrinologist said I am in premature menopause and has sent me to see my ob doctor. I have a lot of dizzy spells with sinus trouble over the last several months. They said that because the prolactin dropped there is no need for an MRI but something is telling me otherwise. There is no history of premature menopause in my family??? Can someone help me make sense of this situation? Thank you!

Hi I think hormones (imbalance) and prolactin are at the root cause of GM.. I have not taken anti-depressants prior to my developing GM, but I did take sulpha drugs and tI do have an allergy to them, a higher than normal incidence of sulpha drug allergy has been shown in the one study done in the US comparing lifestyle and health backgrounds of GM sufferers. Something initiates an auto-immune response in the breast...and it develops in to GM.

Hi.....I have both migraines and depression. My neuro doc put me on Topamax (I take it daily) for migraine management and when I do get "breakthrough" migraines I take Maxalt. The Topamax has worked wonders!!! But it isn't without some nasty side effects. Initially it causes your feet, hands and face to tingle (that goes away)....but it plays hell with your memory (not everyone gets this, but I did). It takes away your appetite (at least it did for me).

I take the birth control pill Minastrin 24 Fe and for about a month now I have been taking Topamax as a mood stabilizer. I recently had unprotected sex and I read that Topamax may interfere with oral contraceptives. If I still take my birth control pill at the same time everyday, should I be protected from pregnancy?

I decided to work out on the 7th and it was not a good idea I started to work out and I started to sweat than stopped and started getting goose bump and got really dizzy so I stopped and sat down, aparently this combintaion of medication blockes the ability to sweat and put the body temp very high!!! so I decided I would not take this medication anymore....

Well have gone to the doc and he has given me a 50 mg 2x daily of Topamax to take with the Paxil CR. I am going to take just the Topamax for a month or so hoping to drop some of the weight gained then start back on the Paxil CR. I will continue to update as I know there are others out there who are in the same boat! p.s. its quiet expensive if you dont have insurance coverage and from other posts the generic versions arent the same.

It sure helps to know when you are not alone and others have the same side effects. Topamax helps my migraines and the weight loss is a plus too but the memory is suffering when it comes to writing and speech...like spelling...sometimes I know the word to use but can not even think of the letters to look it up so I end up using a different word in it's place...very frustrating. Speaking is another story. Sometimes it just isn't worth it to talk at all.
