topamax and implanon

They put me on Implanon, a progestrone only long term bar they put under your skin that doesn't prevent cysts, since I suffer from Migraines and my neurologist didn't want to switch me off of Topamax, my preventative migraine medication. Topamax interacts with regular birth control hormones. I have an appointment in Feb with a new neurologist because I want to be on something that will help this from happening again!

The only antibiotic that has ever been shown to interfere with birth control levels and effectiveness is a medicine called rifampin which is used to treat tuberculosis. Rifampin may also interfere with the birth control patch and vaginal ring so if you are taking it, be sure to use a back-up, non-hormonal (i.e. condom) form of birth control.

My question is what is a good birth control? I have only ever been on the mini pill when breastfeeding, Implanon, and about 2 weeks of Lo Loestrin Fe which made me moody and very bloated. I need something that has little side effects and is good for women who were diagnosed with PCOS.

Has anyone stayed with the implanon and had their sex drive come back. And if i do get it removed will everything go back to how is was. My boyfriend is being really great about all this, but i really feel bad not wanting to have sex when i love him to death.

Hi, I'm 19 and have had the implanon in for 3 years and a couple of months ago I got told I had PCOS.. I was just wondering if the Implanon has effected my PCOS or was the reason I have it.. Also I think it has something to do with it I haven't had my period in nearly two months when usually get it every 2 Weeks.. the pain is so bad I have been in tears and feels like my stomach is getting ripped apart... If anyone has any information it would be very helpful.

I had the implanon inserted 1/3/13 and waited the recommended week to have intercourse. He also pulled out a minute before finishing. I began spotting two days later and it lasted about a week. I had sex again 4 days ago withput him pulling out. Now 1/22/13 i feel sick to my stomach yesterday, no apetite, headache, and cramps. I have a 9 week old and i'm breastfeeding. Any advice, experience, or comments?

Flucoxacillin is not known to interact with Implanon, but it's advisable to use a non-medicinal backup method of contraception (condom, diaphragm, etc.) while taking antibiotics.

I was spotting all that week, and then had my period from the 21st-27th. It stopped the 28th and 29th, and then I got my period AGAIN on July 30th and still have it. This is NOT normal for me, at all. Do you know what could be causing this? Could it be the HPV vaccination with my Implanon? Or could it e because I didn't get the next shot? Please help!

I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.

I absolutely hate implanon!!! I had it for three months and I spotted constantly and the doctor had told me that the majority of implanon users stop their periods while using it. Then I gained 10 pounds and my ovaries were swollen and tender and I had cysts. Then for some strange reason, my liver enzymes were elevated. So, long story short they removed it after only three months. And, I don't know if this is connected or not, but when my husband and I started ttc, I had problems conceiving.

I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.

I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.

I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.

I had the implanon removed last July and have not gotten pregnant except for in March but it was a chemical pregnancy.

Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

I was in implanon for 2+ yrs and decided we would try again. Took us 2yrs to get pregnant and we miscarried at 10wks. Now I'm pregnant again hoping for the best. Implanon I felt was a great birth control once I was on. Limited side effects, no period not even spotting, but I'm not certain if it impeded on our chances to conceive quickly or not. It was effective though.

All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?

My implanon comes out on the 21st and my husband and I are eagerly wanting to get pregnant... We are both 24 and this is our first baby... Anybody on here get pregnant after implanon?

We had sex to day and im ovalating( while) the implanon on my arm. They say implanon is 99% and 1% that i will! And when i say i been ovulating ( im creaming (white cream) like a water water running. im hurting so bad ...where my ovuls located! TELL ME IF I COULD BECOME PREGNANT!

I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.

I only mention this stuff to you, not to necessarily put you off, but simply because these are things that I have developed, and that I, and my American O.B.G.Y.N, put down to the use of Implanon.

Implanon completely screwed me up & i was told it could take up to 18 months to conceive. Good luck though, i got mine 5yrs ago & had it removed in 2yrs so im sure they have improved it!!

Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!

hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???

Am I pregnant. Having bad cramps and back pains but i think its because of the implanon. Am i in denial or am i pregnant.

I was on implanon for 2 years and before implanon, I never had sore nips when I ovulated. I had sex for 4 days out of the week.

Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....
