Avatar n tn Yout vet IS right, high protein diets will harm you cat's kidneys...but the thing I don't get, you cat is diabetic or you're just scared that diets with carbs will cause diabetes?? Because it's not carbs that cause diabetes, it's a really high sugar diet that causes it in animals, commercial food have just the carbs and proteins and fats that your cat need (the good ones, of course there are some brands that can damage pets).
1415174 tn?1453243103 There is so much literature out there that shows how bad it is to eat a high fat diet and too much meat. Yet a lot of people are on the Paleo diet including some friends. It is very acidic. Well, that is my opinion. Of course genetics plays a role too.
Avatar m tn The biggest fear often expressed about whey protein intake is that too much protein is “bad for the kidneys.” Research though has shown this is not true at all in healthy individuals. For those with known kidney disease, high protein diets can exacerbate pre-existing conditions. Healthy individuals, without any underlying or unknown kidney disease have nothing to worry about with higher intakes of protein.
Avatar m tn m eating per day. What I did notice, and since have changed, is that I was eating too much protein. My BG levels had crept up to 150 and I had started eating these low carb high protein bars as snacks. Once I stopped eating those my BG levels came down to the 130's. I have since reduce protein amounts and I'm seeing fasting numbers in the 120 and under range. Any one else experience higher BG levels with too much protein?
Avatar f tn I went to Doc for lower back pain at the same time a pain management lady was there to a UA I couldnt pee but a tablespoon full, they gave me so much water to drink I thought I was going to get sick finally after 3 hrs she said she would use what she had and I left.
Avatar n tn For several months now, I have been waking up with a really swollen face and hands/arms, sometimes even neck, and as the day wears on the extra fluid goes downwards so my legs get swollen before bed. There's obviously too much fluid in my system, and it settles in the upper extremities at night.
Avatar m tn What are the side effects of taking protein shakes? And how much protein is safe to take a day bot in shakes and total protein intake?
Avatar m tn ve since learned that his kidneys were not that bad for his age, and these low protein diets do nothing to protect the kidneys or cure kidney disease in dogs. He lost so much weight and lost his hair. He became very weak, and lethergic. By the time I went to a second vet for her opinion it was too late. He was so weak he couldn't stand to eat without being held up by his harness, he could hardly swallow, had to put his plate up to his month so he could try and eat.

1305271 tn?1320984748 I don't think it could mean your pregnant. Protein in the urine means that your kidneys are not working right for some reason. Do you have high blood pressure or diabetes? Are they doing any more blood work? Did they test your for a UTI? These are just some things that can cause your kidneys to "spill" protein. Your kidneys act as a filter and there are certain things that should not be able to get through.
Avatar f tn re trying to accomplish. Too much protein is bad for your kidneys, too little is bad for growth and recovery from exercise. The above suggests certain people "need" a specific amount of protein, but that's not true if health is your goal -- different people will react differently and different conditions require different amounts. So there is no exact answer.
10389360 tn?1410823968 Protein is tough on the kidneys and a high protein diet can have them working overtime, just not sure if its a good mix since the pregnancy itself also puts extra stress on the kidneys
10351533 tn?1409568134 Ugh I hope the results comes out negative then
Avatar f tn Yes its to make sure your kidneys are functioning properly.. Too much protein in your urine can lead to kidney failure..
Avatar m tn The side effects of too much protein are taxing to the kidneys. The only way you lower your cholesterol is if you are eating protein source foods that lower it, such as eggs, fish, chicken, nuts, and seeds. If you are consuming red meat, high fat meats, and high fat dairy products, then the cholesterol increases. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar m tn Too much protein damages the kidneys because it is very hard to digest, and requires a lot of stomach acid for proper digestion. It also throws off the proper balance of other nutrients. BCAAs are liver protective for the same reason lots of things are liver protective --they have antioxidant properties that help protect the liver. And I can't tell you how much protein is optimal for you -- that will depend on your particular metabolism and whether you're getting the results you want.
Avatar n tn I hear that naproxen may hurt one's kidneys, and surely I don't want that to happen. But the naproxen helps relieve some of my pain but I don't take it too often. So how much is too much?
Avatar f tn I have had trace protein in almost all of my appts this pregnancy as well as last pregnancy. At l&d i had a small amount (+1) of protein in my urine. But it can be a sign of dehydration or other things.
Avatar m tn creatinine of .9 isn't bad so you shouldn't have to worry about that. The bun might be a little high depending on the lab. (all labs have different values of normal. ) Your age must be higher if your gfr is only 60 at .9 creatinine. which in that case should be normal. Flank pains are never good. Dehydration can cause it. I get it all the time. How much water do you drink? Even slightly dehydrated can cause kidney pains. If it started after the dye that doesn't surprise me.
