Today I am 19, and I have trouble speaking 100% and words/sentences end up being tongue twisters for me. It makes me unconfident when I want to ask a question knowing I probably wouldn't be able to say it right. It's like when I speak my tongue kind of trips itself, or better say that it gets "stiff". The sentences that I really have problems with saying usually include alliteration in them, or that.

My wife thinks I am out of my mind at this point. I am constantly checking the strength of my tongue and practicing tongue twisters to make sure I dont have any weakness or atrophy. I have no problems eating or drinking. But despite it all I still cannot shake this tense clumsy feeling in my tongue thats stemming from under my chin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anxiety can cause a white tongue...I know, I have the same problem when I get really anxious about something. Ignore any symptoms you have had because they mean nothing one way or the other. Just test at 3 months post exposure and then you can get back to normal life. Also a lot of your symptoms don't sound like HIV and the absence of a 101+ fever for 1 to 2 weeks is strong evidence that you have not experienced ARS.

Dr.'s, I would like to ask a few questions that I think would benefit all seeking answers. Is the difference in window periods due to the type of Disease, or accuracy of the test or a combination of both? for example: 1) Why is HIV a/b test considered conclusive by 8-12 weeks, and HCV would be 3-6 months? is the hiv test that much better? or is it the bodies reaction time to each possible infection?

I also have two bumps on my tongue on the either side on top of inner tongue .I think u will be able to help me as i have read many of your answers posted to questions . My questions are 1. well I had a possible exposure (stuck it inher vagina for a minute, and had oral sex) about three moths ago and ever since then ive had symptoms that still persist till today like my tongue is white especially more in the back and when I try to scrape it off it just stays white, my tongue was never like this before. Let me preface this by saying, I have been to a dentist, my PCP, an ENT and an oral surgeon and I am not getting any answers. Two months ago I began to have pain while eating. I looked in my mouth and noticed a lump underneath my tongue and it was very painful to the touch and eating. Now this lump extends the back of my mouth going under my tongue and then connects to the back of my tongue. The pain is now constant and only lessons with ibuprofen.

The biopsy results are not back yet, but I overheard the nurse mention stage 3 tongue cancer when she was making appointments for my mother with other doctors. My question is this...what, exactly, is stage 3 tongue cancer and how do they know she has that when the biopsy hasn't come back yet? And how treatable is this?! The dr. said that they would try chemo and xray therapy first and if it didn't respond they would have to remove her tongue and voicebox.
