Hi, about 2 months ago, I noticed a small flesh colored "pimple" like bump on the outside of my lower eyelid, at least an inch down from my eye. I replaced my mascara and that cleared up the bump. After a few weeks, I developed three more of the same "pimple" like bumps, 2 around the same area on my lower eyelid, and one on my upper eyelid. Again on the outside of the lid, not underneath.
By Wednesday it was worse so I went to opthamologist who disgnosed Chalazion and prescribed warm/hot compresses several tmes a day and TOBRADEX eye drops 4 x a day + TOBRADEX ointment at night. It is now Saturday, six days later, with eye worse.
Does this seem like good advice? Is it usual that a Chalazion will get worse after initial appearance and after treatment has started I am away from home for work which makes me less secure about medical care.
Yes, I've had my stye for 6 months now, I've beed trying to get rid of it. I went to an eye doctor, he said it was a "pimple"... that sounds like BS to me. He also prescribed me TobraDex Stye Ointment, but I've seen NO results out of it. I also tried the warm compress, but my stye is too old and solid to react to it.
Sounds like you have inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis). Using steroidal anti-inflammatories helps, when you stop the styes return.
Ways to control: hot compresses twice daily and omegas. Also, oral antibiotics may help, doxycycline or azithromycin.

My opth has diagnosed me with blepharitis, I use sterilid w/ compresses and take flaxseed oil, and I also use preservative free eyedrops for moisture. However nothing has worked to my satisfaction besides tobradex which I've used for about a year and half- my eyelid inflammation is pretty severe even with the other treatments, however w/ tobradex my symptoms are almost nonexistent.
I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days.
The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye
Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light.
I searched on Google and found in many articles that the eye blurriness is one of the side effects of using Tobradex.
My question is there anyone had the same problem of blurry vision? what precautions to take ? Is your eye is now ok?
I've developed sties in both eyes about 5 months ago. My the "head" of the left eye still is swollen and red from the stye, though it doesn't really hurt anymore. As for my right eye, when it was infected again 5 months ago, it looked as if it was hit by 3 styes in a row, with white heads all over the lower lid. When the infection resolved, it gave way to a pimple near my lower lashes that would produce pus from time to time.
I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?

After using the drops and coming in for a follow-up visit the following week, my vision had drastically gotten worse (the first Wednesday I went in was the line below "20/20", and a few days ago on Wednesday it was 2 lines above "20/20").
Hey! I have had styes my entire life but this one is worse than any others. It started out as a swollen eyelid, then the stye formed. I have had migraines daily because of it and struggle with everyday activities such as homework. Not only have I had this stye for 6 MONTHS!!! But it gets worse everyday! Every doctor I see says “hot compresses and eye ointment will get rid of it in a few days” I’ve tried both and much more for six months.
I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Hi, I have lower lid problem since January 2009. Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again.
Neither Maxitrol or tobradex are good choice for allergic conjunctivitis. Both often irritate the eye and have harseh preservatives in them. You would best use a good artificial tear: Systane, Blink, Refresh, Soothe and something for allergies like Patanol or Pataday. If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
I get styes after I don't take off my makeup at times. Can the infection live in your makeup? I get styes monthly. It feels like there is a weight on my eyelid.
Right now im taking TOBRAdex, and Hialid, way back dec2011, i had a sore eyes, then i used a MAxritol without consulting a doctor, then my eyes got irritated, then i went to CEBU Dr,Larrazabal,then he gave me hialid & frulon,, then after 5mnths it was okey.. on the last week of August 2012,i felt sometimes a blurred vision, then, i consult again to Dra. I have been noticeing small clear bubbles forming on the inside of my lowere eyelid . I have several of them , i had some tobradex drops and used them but nothing is makeing them go away , has anyone had this problem ???
He put me on flax seed oil, allegra, restasis, sterilid and qtips, moisturizing eyedrops and tobradex. At one point he did tell me to slow down on the tobradex but I couldn't handle having such bloodshot eyes so he's allowed me to continue usage for the past year and a half while monitoring my IOP levels. I decided to try to wean myself off of tobradex again, but despite my bloodshot eyes he said that he didn't think I was experiencing rebound symptoms from the steroids.
My 93 yr. old mom was given Tobradex for an eye infection and has not been the same since. She had no med. hist. other than moderate dementia. After the 1st dose of tobradex, she became difficult to arrouse and because of this, slightly dehydrated. She also had immediate increased difficulty in swallowing. Approx. 3 weeks after dc of ointment, she was in the hospital due to build up of upper resp. fluid.
My 4 year old had a chalazion on his left lower lid for almost 4 months took him to ophthalmologist and he did the surgery to remove it about 2 weeks ago, sent him home with the normal eye ointment to do for 7 days 3 times a day. No today his lower lid is still slightly swollen and the chalazion is still very much visible, is this normal or is there something else I should do?
About 1 month ago I used tobradex drops for 10 days. Since then, my eyes have been tearing a lot and it always seems like I am 'crying'. I saw a opthamologist recently who said I have dry eye syndrome and suggested systane ultra. How can I have dry eye syndrome when my eyes are tearing so much? Could the tobradex have reduced inflammation on my tear ducts, thereby causing increase in tearing? Also my eyes are red all the time and looks like I have been smoking pot or something.
