Tamsulosin not working

Common Questions and Answers about Tamsulosin not working

flomax

Avatar n tn As stated above, talk to your doc before stopping the drug, although, having been on it and another that does the same thing, when it was determined not to be working I was just told to stop taking it. But as someone who has suffered with this and had surgery for it, flomax does not stop the prostate from continuing to get larger, so again, it's time to go back to your urologist and get an ultrasound. Peace.
Avatar f tn A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem. Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin? Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days? Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
Avatar n tn This could happen even when you are not having sex. If this is not treated right away, it could lead to permanent sexual problems such as impotence. Contact your doctor right away if this happens.” Refer: http://www.drugs.com/cdi/tamsulosin.html Please consult your doctor and ask for a change in prescription. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?
1580703 tn?1651904887 It's unusual that tamsulosin should relieve your chest pain. While tamsulosin is used primarily as a prostate medication, it can also lower blood pressure in some individuals. This may be a sign that your blood pressure is high (which may lead to chest pain in some), which is then being reduced by the tamsulosin. Enlargement can occur due to a number of reasons.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
Avatar m tn If there is no obstruction and the bladder is not working, a TURP would do not good and should not be done. In that case you might be instructed in how to pass a catheter into your bladder yourself to drain the urine a few times a day. That is the "worst case" scenario, and may sound difficult, but is learned easily by many patients with poorly functioning bladders, including children born with spinal cord abnormalities.
Avatar m tn At 65 I was told I was "late" in getting BPH, but as anyone knows, better late but not better than never with this one. Anyway, I have tried Epsom Salt baths and UrinoZinc, as I did not like Tamsulosin at all. It made my breathing labored, and I don't like the idea of Retrograde Ejaculation. I have had painful external orgasms and urination, and although my enlargement is not that bad-the Urologist told me it was .5 and had others at 1 and 1.
Avatar f tn Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I? History- Irritable bowel syndrome, (past)stomach ulcers, smoker, and just diagnosed with Fibrous Dysplasia (still finding out more information and getting more testing, health problems with this also started in Feb.
Avatar m tn Does Tamsulosin 0.4 Mg cause Ed?
Avatar m tn I had agressive treatment with a combination of external radiation and Brachytherapy. I now on Uromax tablets (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg) which is causing me severe pain when ejaculating. Please advice if there is anything I can as I am still very young.
Avatar m tn Obstruction is a possibility also hinted, afaik, by a large urea/creatinine ratio in the urine. I am taking tamsulosin 0.4 mg/d and testing with my doctor 0.8 mg/d to check PVR. I have had regularly and also recently DREs which were all normal. I am 56, otherwise healthy, moderately active, fit and eating a well balanced diet with relatively high protein intake (Zone).
Avatar f tn Hi i experience frequent urination urge and urine retention and tamsulosin quite help me but symptoms still persist.
Avatar f tn Pain initially began as irritated foreskin. It was chronically sore and hurt. Seemed like it was always raw. From there, I experienced burning when ejaculating and sometimes peeing. This started over a year ago. Urologist took urine test/bacterial culture which was normal. No stds present. We tried tamsulosin which I stopped because I couldn't tell if it was doing anything (took for a couple weeks). He said I could try an oral anti fungal or some sort of antibiotic next if I wanted.
Avatar m tn The Flomax was not working very well, initially and my MD switched me to Jalyn, mostly because of the CombaT Study which looked at combination regimens for BPH. The Jalyn (Flomax & Avodart) does a GREAT job and I am pretty much symptom free. My thought was that switching to Avodart alone would leave me with one less drug going into my system, keep my good results, and, hopefully reduce the IFIS risk.
Avatar n tn The doctor put me on finasteride to reduce the prostate size and tamsulosin (Flowmax) which is working. I asked my doctor if I had to take these two medications for the rest of my life he said yes. I told him I wanted to try natural herbs like saw palmetto, beta sitosterol and other herbs for the prostate. He said the medication he is giving me is way stronger than those and keep taking the medication.
Avatar f tn Yes I think it could due to minor tearing of soft tissue. At least you have found the stone. You can take drinks and that help dissolve renal calculi. Pharmaceutical and also natural such as Apple cider vinegar one teaspoon per day max. Tamsulosin can also help pass stones.
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
Avatar m tn Probably not, since the phacoemulsification handpiece still has to be used to aspirate the cataract. A potential advantage of the femtosecond laser is that it will soften the hard nucleus, and allow it to be emulsified or aspirated more easily. Not everyone who is on or who has taken Flomax develops IFIS (intraoperative floppy iris syndrome), but it occurs with the fluid currents in the eye during the emulsification of the cataract nucleus, or the irrigation-aspiration of the cortex.
