Anyone have experience with any over the counter depression medicine that works well?

My husband and MIL had the flu over Christmas, but I had a flu shot and was fine. You can take Tamiflu while pregnant if you do get the flu.

My son and his family just went through the flu in their home He and the baby had the tamiflu because it was within 24 hours of exposure to the flu bugs, but they had also had the flu vaccine (mist for her, shot for him). Mom wasn't so lucky - she had been exposed over 24 hours and coming down with it already and the doctors wouldn't give her the tamiflu. The other two girls got sick to varying degrees.

i actually JUST had the flu. I im 19 weeks Thursday & I got prescribed tamiflu as well. it is okay to take, I confirmed with hospital & my OBG. I am now better, & my baby is okay. just heard his heat beat Friday & I had already started my medication. & I feel his little pokes right now as well. it won't harm the baby. I took it twice a day for two days. & cough drops. & I am now better.

Hi. I feel like am the only one out there that is pregnant and came in contact with the FLU . Wasn't told by the hospital doctor which type of flu a,b,c ? All I know is my symptoms were getting worse day by day . I have been on Tamiflu since Dec 29 up til now . Yes I have been better since the first time I got in contact with it ,but now it's only been down to a sore throat with that feeling you have something scraping my throat but nothing comes out .

My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.

So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.

An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.

But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.

, there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.

yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

If you have the flu you need to see your doctor. Tamiflu, a prescription medication, can decrease the severity and the length of the flu but you have to take it right away. Drink more water and rest - but first, see your doc.

Does anyone know how old are the stocked Tamiflu and Relenza antivirals that the U.S. plans to use if this swine flu worsens? See my post above; if we don't know whether Tamiflu or Relenza past their expiration date [2 years for tamiflu] have still any efficacy, and we don't know how old or new the U.S. stockpiled quantities of these drugs are, then how do we know whether (or rather, to what degree) they are effective?

My throat and mouth are on fire because of all the mouth breathing and the aches pains and chills are enough to send me up the wall! I have never had the flu before but I wouldn't wish this on Hitler! I have been taking tamiflu as prescribed but it is working VEEERRYYY slowly. There is a product that I use that is over the counter that works pretty well but I try to only give it at night so that my child has the opportunity to 'cough' up the mucus. If he/she has a productive cough then a cough med with expectorant would be best to keep that mucous fluid. Mucinex has that proporty too. I do believe they make a cough syrup these days. I use a humidifyer religiously when my kids have a cough. And a t spoon of honey for good measure never hurts.
