tamiflu

Avatar f tn Thanks. I've been taking Tylenol and they gave me tamiflu. They just aren't working for me I guess.
8960138 tn?1407673893 Yes, thanksgiving week, my son had the flu. I was so sick and was sure I caught it too, but I could only take tylenol and Tamiflu. Drink lots of liquids. Other than that, you're literally going to have to sweat it out. Hope you feel well soon.
4355200 tn?1354593144 In postmarketing experience, rare cases of anaphylaxis and serious skin reactions, including toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and erythema multiforme, have been reported with TAMIFLU. Tamiflu should be stopped and appropriate treatment instituted if an allergic-like reaction occurs or is suspected.
Avatar f tn I had the same symptoms your having and I went to the emergency room cause its not okay to chills and have a fever while pregnant , well I ended up having the flu . The prescribed me this medicine called " tamiflu " & told me to take Tylenol with less strength but I would take mine every 6 hrs.
Avatar f tn Same here. That and rest and lots of liquids is all I can do.
167426 tn?1254086235 Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.
6708370 tn?1471490210 4 and am just going to take it easy, drink lots of fluids and my son brought me some chicken soup I suppose I could be convinced that the tamiflu is worth taking but the ER doc and nurses said, meh, take it if you want to and seems like I read something bad about it? Med team thought that the most it would do is to shorten my flu by a day or 2 Will see what liver doc says tomorrow Thanks everyone for all your concern and good suggestions Off to bed!
Avatar n tn She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this. I just feel horrible. I haven't been this sick in a long time and just the pregnancy is tiring enough. To top it off I got my 6 and 4 yr olds sick also...
167 tn?1374173817 OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
Avatar n tn A doctor can write a prescription for any patient, regardless of age. He may have meant that your son doesn't fit the criteria for being helped by the drug. For example, Tamiflu is only helpful if started in the first 48 hours of the flu. You don't want him taking a medicine that won't help, and drugs become less effective when given to people that they won't help.
Avatar n tn Don't fret!!! You' and the baby will be fine. I'm also 38 weeks (yay us!) and have been taking Tylenol to help with my current back pains. So long as we don't go over the recommended amount of doses per day, we're fine. It does absolutely nothing to our tiny human.
Avatar f tn I was really set against taking Tylenol or any pregnancy recommended medication. I read an article tylenol contributes to babies who developed ADD /ADHD later on as children. Not sure how accurate this is. However, only started yesterday taking it for a severe migraine and currently in second trimester. Doesn't really help with pain at all. Also worried that it will cause side effects in baby later.
Avatar f tn Mrs A Being in the uk i agree its silly my child was dx over the phone you are not allied to go out and the drs wont come out to you as they dont want to get it so you have a flu buddy who goes and collects the tamiflu if they feel you need it they felt we didnt, its been 3 days and she is already improving her temp has stopped and her bad headache and sore throat it seems to be a very mild illness in older children and adults the temp is the worst bit she was up to 41 c at one point but came
Avatar n tn Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?
1806721 tn?1554333407 It went for a week gor me but the tamiflu really made a huge difference. I had completely lost my voice. And it seemed like one day after starting the tamiflu I got drastically better faster.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I went to the ER yesterday because i thought i was getting the flu and strep throat, but according to their tests they both came negative. Well, the doc decided to give me the tamiflu and other medicine for bronchitis. They didn't do a chest xray because im 16 weeks pregnant, but because of my bath cough. No fever-- but everything did come up, water, oj, fruit and yogurt.
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar f tn I am 36 weeks and have the flu. I spoke with my ob last night and he said that he woukd not prescribe me tamiflu because pregnant women shouldn't take antiviral medication. He said to rest and get plenty of fluids and keep monitoring baby's movement.
Avatar f tn i wouldnt take nor recommend anything harmful. I caught a nasty flu bug that was going around my job.got extremely sick, vomiting, dehydration, fever, chills and aches. Couldn't keep liquids down and had to get IV FLUIDS at hospital. I was prescribed TAMIFLU and it helped me. My husband researched n talked w doctors before i took it. Being so sick was more dangerous for me than taking the meds. I have other high risk factors. From my understanding its a safe option.
Avatar f tn So I spoke with my doctor today and she said it's not harmful to the baby but she also said that as soon as I feel better to stop taking it...
Avatar f tn ve been sick for over a week and the only thing my dr will let me take is robitussin dm and Tylenol, im so congested it feels like it is never going away :( the worst part is the wheezing in my chest. I hope I get better I don't like feeling like this. .
6576704 tn?1383187473 s better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Stay hydrated and take the meds.
Avatar f tn Not sure about tylenol...my MD prescribed xanax and told me ibuprofen (motrin) was okay for pain.
Avatar n tn But there could be other strains going around this year that it will not work for. Specialmom is right tamiflu only works within the first few hours and after that there is not Mich you can so other than rest, Tylenol and fluids.
