Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and sleep problems

synthroid

Avatar m tn t see it. I am also taking prilosec and gaviscon for stomach problems and I seem to have my heart palpitations under control with my stomach getting better. ( i believe they were gerd related) Perhaps the prilosec is causing my heartrate to go up. perhaps it is causing me to work through my synthroid faster? What do you all think?
Avatar f tn d also 2nd the idea of demanding to go back onto name brand synthroid since you think that worked without any problems and get off the generic.
Avatar m tn t want to take these but I need to sleep. I had a follow-up visit with the surgeon on 24th and he put on .125 mg synthroid...I have been taking these in the morning plus the Caltrade D about 4 hours later. I still have tremendous difficulty sleeping and an emotional mess, feeling sad / depressed, my mind is going crazy. I have a visit with my endo on the 30th I never had problems sleeping or napping during the day before this surgery.....
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have hypothyroid and extreme insomnia? I just started on synthroid 3 weeks ago and my sleep seems to have gotten worse, not better.
1070570 tn?1283436213 have been told I have a conversion issue due to a high RT3 level in April (352)- don't convert T4 to T3 optimally, instead it converts to RT3 which cancels out the T3 that's trying to get into my cells. That's why I was wondering if increasing the synthroid was just gonna increase my RT3 and make me feel worse.
460348 tn?1213452322 Hello all!! I have a question?? I'm having so many problems sleeping at night and I was wondering if taking Tylenol PM or some kind of sleep aid would be ok to take with the Synthroid? I know there are certain things you can't ake when you have a thyroid but since I don't have one now I was wondering if there would be a problem??? I also read the post about the milk...I read some comments on that and was wondering if anyone out there does take their synthroid at night?
Avatar n tn i've never slept heavy in my life..yesterday i fell into a deep sleep and woke to my daughter crying on my bed. the last thing i remember doing was putting my 6 1/2months old to sleep and i went to sleep..i do not remember waking up, getting her off her bed and putting her on my bed. i been taking synthroid med and now i wonder if it has anything to do with it...is this something i should worry about and call my doc?
Avatar f tn s unlikely to be the Synthroid causing your lack of sleep. You might try taking a calcium and magnesium supplement before bed. They both tend to have calming effect.
327369 tn?1326119908 Tried meds again a few months later (only a 25 mcg dose synthroid) and things got wacky. Anxiety out the roof, palps, etc. and the main thing was this over-energized feeling and an inability to sleep. However during this time all labs were normal and not hyper. This went on for about 5-6 weeks and after the insomnia was so bad.....I had to go off. Things got better after the meds cleared my systems and I was able to sleep again. Anxiety and all other issues resolved. Fast forward to now.
Avatar f tn I suffer from depression, my doctor had a blood test done and put me on synthroid. I have hair loss, weight gain, dry skin, problems with my digestive tract like constipation and diahrea and acid reflux, constantly feeling tiredneed at least 10 hours of sleep. Is this all related to the thyroid or something else. Usually my blood tests come back normal but I take .1 mg of generic synthroid.
1033165 tn?1309435416 I have no thyroid at all in by body. Had large goiters in 2002 and had one side and middle area removed and then in 2007 had the other side removed for same reason.
Avatar f tn My levo is causing some itchy reaction, so I tried synthroid. I could not sleep and kept having anxiety attacks. Is there a reason for this and how can I combat it? I will be taking levo lavoxly to see if it will help at all. Any suggestions will help. I'm also on 15 mcg of cytomel Tsh .57 T4 .65 (.61-1.60) T3 3.28 I don't have the ranges with me right now. I just remember my t4 because its so low. My symptoms are rapid heart rate, my sinuses won't heal, shakiness.
332168 tn?1201026915 I had a TT in Sept. and RAI in Nov. During the time between the TT and RAI, I took only Cytomel and did fine on it. Currently I take 137 of Levothyroxine and 25 mcg of Cytomel. I was taking a half tablet in the morning and once in the early afternoon, but I couldn't manage to remember to take the afternoon dose in a timely fashion, and sometimes was kept up at night.
Avatar n tn There is a difference in Generic Levothyroxine and Name Brand Like Synthroid, I went from 10mg to 25, 50, 75, and finally 100 mg of Levothyroxine (Generic) At that time I started seeing an Endo, He informed me that when it comes to thyroid meds, Generics are not as consistant as name brand meds, all during this prior period my symptoms were all over the place, they would stop for a few days then reappear and I would feel bad for two days, The Endo put me on a name brand (Synthroid) 100mg, at thi
Avatar n tn Thank all of you for responding to my post. Evaleonor I have just recently started talking multivitamins, a whole slew of them in fact. I'm taking amounts that were suggested off of a thyroid information site. Hopefully they will start having some sort of positive affect. Dr. Lupo without trying to make this post a small medical history, my acne and hair problems have been going on long before my sleep problems. Really I'm looking for any other possible connections for these problems.
Avatar n tn I asked my Doctor and he said that as coffee is liquid and not a digestive food that it wouldnt make any difference and it hasnt. I actually changed my med time to bedtime as I find it easier taking it at night now because of going back to work fulltime. Only difference is I start to feel tired around 7pm ( a few hours before it is due). I dont think coffee makes any difference at all.
Avatar m tn Symptoms of Fibromyalgia are pain, fatigue, anxiety and lack of sleep. It is a vicious circle as one symptom influnces the others. If you sleep badly, then you start to feel more pain, which then causes anxiety, etc... I was taking xanax for anxiety and it was pretty efficient, but had to stopo due to addiction. It would be worth to see a specialist.
458072 tn?1291415186 After all my problems and continued problems, I have decided to switch to synthroid to see if that will help. I am thinking that maybe I don't need the T3 in Armour. Has anyone else done this, and if so, how long before I can expect to see any results? I am thinking maybe 3-4 weeks. Thanks........
Avatar m tn Have you tried yoga (a routine specifically geared for getting ready for bed), meditation, nightime tea or reading a really engaging novel before bed? Or a bit of a combination of some of those things? I haven't had my thyroid removed but I can sympothize with what you are going through. I have hypo with heart palps along with mild narcolepsy which equals a nightmare for trying to go to sleep. I've battles sleep problems for many years, it's ridiculously frustrating.
Avatar m tn I am on Armour and I am one of the ones who didn't benefit from Synthroid - you are very lucky your found Synthroid to work best for you - it is the thyroid drug of choice and many doctors will not continue Armour if you need to change to someone else. Go back to what works - and the question is still ot there - Why did you try it if Synthroid was working?
Avatar m tn This initally had good results, but I have evolved into mild constipation and the stomach distress and gas seems to be escalating again. I am taking 300mcg Synthroid, 5mcg Cytomel, daily, vitamins, one HCL and a Digestive enzyme with each meal. I feel pretty good with current thyroid regime, though I do need 10hr of sleep to feel normal, it takes awhile to get going am, and still feel moody. I eat well, lots of veges , cooked and raw, fruit, low meat intake, lots of water.
Avatar n tn I have taken 50mcg of synthroid for 11 years in the morning, about 1 hour before breakfast and taking my calcium and aspirin. About 4 weeks ago, a pharmacist told me I should take my synthroid 4 hours apart from my calcium and aspirin. So I started taking my synthroid about 2 1/2 hours before breakfast and 5-6 hours before calcium and aspirin.
8170270 tn?1413845335 I expect that you are overdue for an increase, and that your Free T4 and Free T3 are too low in their ranges. We need for you to call and get your test results and reference ranges and post them in order for us to give you a better assessment of your status.
Avatar n tn Is there anything I should know about how to take my Synthroid, 75 mcg and Zoloft, 150? I would like to know if I should take them separately and if so, how many hours apart?
Avatar n tn How long does it take you to adjust each time?
Avatar f tn I was suppose to have surgery in March, that's what led to the tsh level test. They won't do surgery because of the level. That is the only test they are performing. And in regards to my bigemeny, yes the cardiologist in the hospital told me that bigemeny is normal for everyone to have, but the way I was having it was not normal he said.I was having it ever other heart beat I think for several days. He said if I had not come into the Er I would have had a heart attack.
739097 tn?1232231492 Hi I had my entire Thyroid gland surgically removed in 2006, basically because my needle biopsy results came back questionable for cancer. My final diagnosis was Hashimoto's Disease. Unfortunately, I now have no thyroid gland and have to live with the replacement challenges. I was on Armour thyroid replacement but never could get adjusted to a normal state, I was either hypo or hyper never within a normal realm. Since 2006, I have recently been diagnosed with RA and a breast lesion.
