3791484 tn?1348234566 ive done that usually a good dose of benadryl and a warm bath not hot because i have found out that a hot bath actually makes them worse
Avatar f tn It is much, much weaker than epineprhine and you would get a much, much lower dose of it than dental injection with epinephrine. Even so, I would just play it safe for regular exams and just get tropicamide which should not affect blood pressure or pulse.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Since these specific drugs worsen the elongation of the QT wave in a dose-dependent manner, inhibition of drug metabolism raises the risks of developing a malignant torsades de pointes arrhythmia.” Quite interesting, since it is now known that Zithromax causes QT elongation as well, although it may not be as prevalent as with Biaxin. I think maybe because Zithromax isn't a CYP inhibitor like Biaxin is, so at least I wouldn't have twice the effect..
Avatar f tn I have had hives for a day & a half. I would like to know if this could be related to nerves. I don't have any food allergies. I went to the doctor yesterday, she gave me a shot of Epinephrine. That helped for a couple of hours. I have been taking benadryl every 6 hours & putting blue star ointment on. Before I got the shot my mouth was swelling and I almost lost my voice. Please, let me know what to do.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn Ok, in the last few days ive developed a rash all over my body, it gets really red after exercise, then goes away later on. Take a look.
Avatar f tn About 5yrs. ago I developed exercise induced asthma. Nothing too strange because asthma runs in my family, so I didn't think much of it. But for a couple years now I get hives every time I exercise. My body (especially my feet, thighs, arms and trunk) burn and then start to itch really bad and I break out in little red bumps that quickly spread to patches of red, swollen hives all over. Very uncomfortable!
1752948 tn?1466354161 Fatigue headaches but manageable I am considered treatment naive although did three weeks of Interferon back in 2012 before massive allergic reaction, . lol was not pretty. Heavily cirrhotic. Fibrotic. Viral load 1.7 million when treatment started. Feel great for most part. Here is the question Is the American standard of care/treatment also 12 weeks for someone in my situation? I have heard 24 weeks for cirrhotics with fibrosis in the States.
Avatar n tn I do have partial block of the right leg of the His cluster, but this supposedly occurs in 20% of people and is not considered an illness, the only contradiction being I could never be a professional athlete. I had never before encountered any heart-related issues. So I would be delighted to be able to write about post-operative pain or even have some to some degree, but I don't!!! Hope this makes you feel better about getting through your wife's post-operative pain.
Avatar f tn Went to the ER last Thursday for mild anaphylaxis to tree nut allergy. The nurse gave me epinephrine by IV instead of IM. Causing me to have v tacardia. Basically a heart attack. What I'm wondering is ther gonna be permement damage done I scheduled to see cardio at the VA In Pittsburgh. As I just had stress test month and a half ago And was negative. Had it done because started exercising again after 10 year layoff. Now I'm scared to no end.
Avatar f tn I get this itchy red rash when i sweat, and I get hives when i sweat in the water. Claritin does not help, and I refused to take Prednisone from my doctor (for many reasons). Ive traveled to a lot of tropical places, so i took a natural anti-parasite medication, but it did not help. Is there a correlation between urticaria and a yeast overload? Also, where should i go next to try and relieve this problem? Thanks!
Avatar f tn My father in law breaks out with a rash. Try changing up the type of material of clothing you wear and see if a different type of material will absorb the sweat better. If you try wrapping a damp cloth for a headband it could help to keep your sweating to a minimum, keeping your head cool with a damp cloth could help. Just a suggestion.
Avatar f tn husband has had low cortisol but works nights so dr does not think it is low because days and nights reversed although has ordered cortisol 1 hour after he wakes. AM ccrtisol has been between 1 and 5, below range low of 6.7. although cortisol stimulated to 13.7. Dr ordered 24 hour urine for catecholamines in July and December. both times epinephrine NE <5 &<6 below clinical reportable range.
Avatar n tn Using an EpiPen that has expired is mostly discouraged but is better than no medication in emergencies. There is no alternative to epipen in case of anaphylaxis reaction but if a mild allergic reaction is there then oral or intravenous antihistaminic and steroid can be used. Thirdly, from your symptoms it looks like you are allergic to crustaceans. Crustaceans are aquatic animals that have jointed legs, a hard shell and no backbone, such as crab, crayfish, lobster, prawns and shrimp.
Avatar m tn Since I was about 18 I've noticed that whenever I exercise or have an increase in body temp. due to stress, adrenaline, or just warm room temperature (if I was just in a colder environment), I break out in a red rash all over my body. If I itch it at all, it becomes full blown hives. This only happens in cold weather when I'm not acclimatized to the heat, and it also subsides after extreme sweating (but before then is a problem).
Avatar n tn Try to tell my story in short. November 2 I had a bowl of clam chowder (eaten many times in my life) and a half hour later I was in anaphylactic shock. I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
539780 tn?1213943976 Hi, The familiar symptoms of bee and wasp stings include pain, redness, swelling, and itchiness in the area of the sting. Multiple stings can have much more severe consequences, such as anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs in hypersensitive persons. Emergency medical kits containing self-administrable epinephrine to counter anaphylactic shock are available for allergic people and should be carried by them at all times.
Avatar f tn yesterday during my gym exercise, while running in the treadmill i was heavily sweating and suddenly red rashes appeared in both sides of the face near to nose and left ear. so, at night i used mematasone cream. but it is still there. so today morning i used calcitrol ointment. i have hyperthyroidism also. i went the gym after taking euthyrox 100 g tablet. tell me what i can do to overcome this.
1460427 tn?1285773515 I now have epinephrine and am on an all natural estrogen that is doing well most of the time compared to various organs failing almost every month from anaphylactic shock. I suffer a slow forming anaphylaxis and most of my reactions are internalized effecting my organs and muscles. When I was tested for this condition with depo provera, my reaction was positive but showed no external symptoms, I developed giant painful satellite lesions under my skin that lasted for several days. For years.
Avatar f tn In addition to the vomiting and diarrhea she would have had very pale gums, her pulse would have been very weak and her heart rate would have been very rapid. Normally the antidote for anaphylaxis is an injection of epinephrine, which should be administered preferrably within a few minutes of her having the reaction. What type of vaccination(s) did she receive?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
Avatar m tn It is my sense of this constellation of symptoms that the underling disease is serious, may be one not within the scope of practice of the average medical practitioner and that accurate diagnosis and treatment may require consultation with a physician at a major medical center, such as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, the Massachusets General Hospital or the University of California Hospitals in San Francisco.
1666434 tn?1325262350 It would most definitely help to have identifiers indicating what you are allergic to in case of emergencies. If you are allergic to sodium bisulfite, discuss this with your doctor. He may then use a local anesthetic without epinephrine for minor procedures. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Regular injections of the allergen are usually given (with each dose slightly larger than the previous dose) until a maximum dose is reached. However, these do not work for everybody and require frequent follow-up to your attending physician. Indeed, they may require years of treatment, but they work in most cases. They can also cause uncomfortable side effects and possible dangerous outcomes , such as anaphylaxis. Talk to your doctor about this for proper evaluation.
