Avatar n tn All Pathology Labs don't have the sophisticated equipment to do some testing and quite often specimens are sent to outside Labs for a particular test. I personally know that part of my specimen was sent to a Lab in California. In these cases it does take longer to get the final report. This is NOT unusual at all. Actually any report that you receive in less than 7 business days is good .... there are several steps between the OR and the final report being delivered to your Dr. Regards ..

Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar m tn If so, this needs to be examined in person with the appropriate equipment. This is usually performed by an ENT physician who would perform a biopsy of any suspicious lesions. I would be more than happy to explain any pathology report that you have if a biopsy is performed.
Avatar n tn He says he feels almost drunk, speech is slight off, slightly slurred. He went to doctor and ER. Tests were run, blood-urine-EKG. Everything appears normal. He has back compression issues from being in military and wearing heavy equipment. No one seems to feel there is a concern, tests come back ok, but he continues to feel "off". What are we missing?
Avatar m tn I'd say they were within normal limits on all counts, since you're a male! But it also depends on the equipment used. Did the print out tell you that you had highs or lows? Occasionally a repeat test is done to check out anything that was reported as abnormal. RBC's are still within normal ranges from all the machines I have seen reports on, but on the low side of normal.
Avatar f tn So, around this time last year I experienced tingling in my left hand that lasted for a few days, coupled with extreme fatigue. Days later, I developed nystagmus only upon waking that lasted for about 10 minutes or so. That eventually went away after about a month. About six months later I had a severe headache that migrated to my right eye and lasted for over a week. Went to an optometrist, no optic neuritis.
Avatar f tn Pathology report shows infiltrating mammary carcinoma, no special type, low combined histologic grade, Low proliferative rate with apocrine cytology, measuring at least 6MM in greatest extent (best measrued on P63 IHC Slide) Calponin and P63 show absence of myoepithelial cells int he neoplastic tubules, consistent with an invasive interpretation. Immunohistochemical studies for estrogen receptor and progesteron receptor are negative. My questions: No special type? What does that mean?
Avatar f tn You can still request that your slides be read by another Pathology Lab. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so and this might help clear things up for you. I'm sure you are more than aggravated at how things have gone in the past. I'm not sure why the ADH wouldn't show up on Excisional Biopsy unless the area was so small that it was removed by the previous needle procedure/ OR/ the Excisional Biopsy did not include the area of ADH.
Avatar f tn t seen that as a test for dysphagia in any MS forum. It seems more relevant to get a barium swallow or speech pathology assessment. I've had so many tests lately, and spent so much time at the clinic, that I'd like to avoid this if it's not necessary. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Please consult doctor or get the X ray cervical spine done to rule out cervical pathology. Avoid thick pillows too and also get your blood pressure checked.
Avatar n tn If he has semantic speech difficulties google Semantic Pragmatic Speech Disorder. But bear in mind that the loss of a diagnosis could mean he doesn't receive supports as an adult. This is only my opinion, but I want all professionals who come into contact with my son to know that he is on the autistic spectrum so that he is treated appropriately. My son is high functioning autistic and goes to a mainstream school.
Avatar f tn Limited to medically-necessary part-time or intermittent skilled nursing care, or physical therapy, speech-language pathology, or a continuing need for occupational therapy. A doctor must order your care, and a Medicare-certified home health agency must provide it. Home health services may also include medical social services, part-time or intermittent home health aide services, durable medical equipment (see page 30), and medical supplies for use at home.
Avatar f tn Dear Joacs456 (using your nickname) Really very sorry to hear that. From your question it appears as though there is a pathology in brain--like aneurysm, hematoma etc due to injury. I am sure MRI must have been done after and before surgery. What do the reports say? Have you consulted a senior neurologist? A more detailed information about medical reports and Neurologist's opinion will be very helpful.

Avatar f tn That would tell you if you are at high risk of aspirating into your lungs. I know speech therapists do these tests if they have the equipment. They can also be done in a radiology department. In the meantime, try to be aware of keeping your chin tucked just a tad when you swallow. That helps guide what you swallow toward the esophagus and away from the trachea. Doing a double swallow will also help. Hope you find your answer. Maybe a call to the doctor is in order.
Avatar m tn My other symptoms, which began to appear in 2003, include hand tremors, poor balance and co-ordination, dizziness, fatigue, pain in my legs when walking anything more than 50 yards, short-term memory loss, slurred speech, poor articulation (which comes and goes) and sensitivity to my head and arms. I had a single MRI scan earlier this year; the results of which were inconclusive and while the neurologist refuses to rule out the possibilty of MS, I am left completely in the dark.
Avatar f tn She had 2 pills yesterday and 1 today. Now she is having other neurological symptoms such as slurring speech. She is dizzy, can't walk straight at times. Do you think there is more going on here. She had the Fioricet at 7:30 a.m. and the new symptoms started at about 3 p.m.
Avatar f tn I disagree with the teacher. I would change him to a different school. He is too young to be labelled. Making noises can be very common for young children. I am not sure what type of noises you are referring to. It could be normal and not related to a tic disorder. But, it is also possible your son has a tic disorder. Tics are very common for children. Most go away within a year.
