Avatar f tn t think thats the most perfect protein....Soy milk has a ton of protein, beans and nuts as well. Simple carbs and starch turn to sugar in your body so stay away from those as Brice said. Here's a couple of things I do. First, I have a smoothie every day. My smoothies consist of kale, collard greens, spinach, carrots, ginger, blueberries, strawberries, banana, peaches, soy milk, 100% juice, and a scoop of ground flax seed.
1268448 tn?1270365516 There is some data to suggest that whey protein after weight lifting can be helpful. To be honest, your weight may very well be appropriate for your height, particularly depending on your build. The ultimate goal is definitely good health rather than a number.
Avatar f tn tofu, soy milk, soy yogurt, soy pudding, and soy ice cream. Incomplete proteins you need to combine foods such as beans and rice, pasta with vegetables, peanut butter and bread, nuts in salad, and beans with pasta. You can try any of the above to get protein in her for each meal. Milkshakes (milk, fresh fruit, and ice cream) are also good for extra protein too.
Avatar f tn doc, im 31 cirrhotic patient for 10 years. although they could not traced the caused of the liver problem since it was found when i was a teenager. had my spleen removed when 15 yrs old but after that few years back i was in and out of the hospital due to portal hypertension. also have esophageal varices as they found it when i had the operation.
Avatar f tn soy is a controvercy that will always be there. Many leading health writers now say its bad for the whole body, yet many still support it. Its though to steer away from it if you have thyroid issues. Its used in Asia for centuries in food, but the difference apparently is fermentation....... or not, and how much you are consuming.
6231275 tn?1379901818 I in no way would recommend anything like soy products for various reasons. Some examples of veggie protein are beans(13.4g), seitan(21g), or you could buy a veggie supplement/protein drink. So pretty much go towards more plant based for the first phase. Once you've lost at least 50% or most of the weight you needed to loose you can add in that *little* vegetarian cheat now and then. 1-2 times a week or so.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
Avatar m tn What you need to do is research the forms of protein. Some soy protein is quite bad for people, some is quite good. Depends on the form. Same with whey. For building muscle, some prefer egg protein, but most seem to like the whey. Organic is great, but when you're isolating something down to the protein, it's more important it be done correctly. An organic product that uses the wrong kind of method of isolating the protein isn't going to be very helpful.
Avatar f tn All items were Soy Protein. Is it possible that this can be a cause of my not getting pregnant? I am wondering how true the article was. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have started training for gaining muscles, but i am not sure if i should be using whey protein as i heard that if i stop working out later at some point in time, I will start putting on weight!!! Is this a side effect of taking whey protein and discontinuing its use??? Moreover, does intake of whey protein interfere with the blood tests done to check the thyroid profile? answers to these questions will be a great favor and highly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Stop eating red meat; eat fish, foods with fiber and fruits... if you're sold on protein products, go with Soy Protein; such as Twinlab's Vege Fuel...great for Mass gain and lots of Aminos. 0.8gm per Kilogram of bodyweight. 2.2#/kg (i.e. 150# รท 2.2 = 68kg x0.8 = 54.6gm of protein [or about 4 scoops of protein powder] ) Most protein powders offer about 25-30gms per serving.
Avatar n tn Also to bulk up you want to totally exhaust the muscle. Lift as much weight as you can (ALWAYS tighten your abs when lifting and engage your pelvic floor -the muscles you use to stop the peeing- to protect your low back). You can do fewer reps, but with more weight and stop only when you can't take anymore. Rest about 30 sec and do a few more-- even just 2 at maximum weight. Rest than do even just one more. By now (if you are using enough weight) your muscle should be screaming.
Avatar f tn Hello, The other rich sources of proteins are whole grain bread, brown rice, barley, soy, tofu and soy milk, nuts, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. For weight loss it is important to have a combination of aerobic and strength training. Include green leafy vegetables, fruits and less of spaghetti, potato etc. I suggest you eat frequent small meals and drink plenty of water .I hope it helps. Take care and regards!

Avatar f tn I had problem gaining weight too nd I eat protein bars b/w each meals nd I hcame from 100lbs to 112 bt exercise helps a lot too to be tone
Avatar f tn First of all, if you're not doing resistance training (weight lifting), you're not going to gain muscle much. Second, most people eat too much protein, not too little, unless you're quite poor. Some people do lose weight on a high protein diet, while others don't do well on that type of diet, and long-term it isn't good for you because it usually substitutes protein for vegetables and fruits, which are where we get our antioxidants and minerals.
Avatar f tn Dr. Oz recommends adding black soy protein to your diet in order to help you decrease caloric intake. Decreasing calories and increasing nutrition are key to weight loss, but if you want to look strong and taut, it's going to take exercise. Otherwise you just look like an unhealthy thin person. If you can discipline yourself to exercise, you will become more attractive to others and your body will work better and have less pain. Try yoga or Pilates and walking.
Avatar m tn s not a good idea to start with heavy weight right on. So when you start you should be doing 2X12 or 15 with light weight then gradually increase weight then go for 3X12 and when you feel comfortable you can go for mass building which is 2X6 or 7 with heavy weights. To know what is the appropriate weight you have to be barely able to lift the 6th or 7th repetition. If you have no problem doing all the 7 repetitions then it's time to add weight.
Avatar n tn Try nutrient dense drinks once a day, either purchase them, such as Ensure or Boost, or make your own milkshakes - milk, ice cream, and frozen fruit blended together or yogurt smoothies - yogurt, milk, and frozen fruit blended together for additional calories, protein and nutrients to help increase your weight. Hoped that helped you.
Avatar m tn You can take supplements, however, you would benefit more from the foods you eat. Suggest eating a moderate fat diet to gain weight slowly, protein (amino acids) and eat healthy. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn Protein is an essential part of your diet and if you are skipping meat then you should try something like tofu or similar non vegetarian protein food to aid in your weight loss. Not only protein can curb your hunger but also can help you build muscles ( if you are working out) to burn more calories.
Avatar f tn You get protein by using dairy products which can come from animal or plant sources, such as, milk, soy milk, rice milk, yogurt, soy yogurt, cheese, soy cheese, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. For the plant protein, you need to combine grains and nuts / seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts.
544684 tn?1240118000 If not, then she would be underweight. Soy base formula is given to infants so she can have soy milk, soy yogurt, soy ice cream. Suggest Pediasure (dairy free), nutrient dense drink instead of milk for all meals and snacks for additional calories and protein to help her to grow and gain weight. Hoped this helped you.
