Soy protein during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Soy protein during pregnancy

protein

Avatar f tn Try making your own with peanut butter, nuts, avocado or other protein boosters.yogurt, milk or almond milk as protein sources. I wouldn't buy protein powders as you don't actually know what is in them besides what is listed like arsenic, lead, mercury. leafy greens are good sources of folate, a key nutrient that helps prevent neural tube defects. Making shakes with fruits and vegetables can also help you reach your dietary fiber intake goals during pregnancy.
7177914 tn?1399518500 What are some foods that are high in protein besides chicken and beef? I've heard salmon, brussel sprouts, both I love, beans which I'm not a fan of... any other ideas lovlies?? I'm also hoping if I get more protein maybe I won't constantly feel like I haven't eaten in days... lol TIA!!!
Avatar f tn Ive always been into working out and drank them and i still work out (in moderation) during my pregnancy. But thank you!
Avatar f tn Eating meats and no-fat dairy products will help keep up her protein levels without taking protein powders, and decrease the gallbladder issues. Avoid certain foods she cannot tolerate, even if they are on the list above. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn I tried googling this earlier in my pregnancy and didn't like what I found... that none are really "good" for me or baby right now. I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
Avatar f tn Hiya! I was wondering if somebody could give me some info, I have read many stories online that Soy is no good to have During Pregnancy or when TTC (I'm not Pregnant yet) Plus I'm not really sure what foods I can eat! I eat alot of Fruit & Veg, Pasta's, Lentils, Protein, Brown Bread, Water, - I don't eat Chocolate anymore, but I have occasionally had a Cake -_- Only because 2 weeks before my Period, I get cravings badly!
Avatar f tn I couldn't eat any meat until after 15-16 weeks. I ate apples with peanut butter for protein. I craved fruit and veggies my whole pregnancy. Cheese isn't a great thing to eat alot of. It causes constipation and with the pregnancy hormones causing constipation it's a double wammy. Try and eat oatmeal and some fruit for breakfast helps alot with the constipation. There is a ton of veggies that you can eat. Nuts are a great source of protein also.
Avatar f tn My first pregnancy I was young and had been a full on vegetarian for 5 years. My mom tells me even as a child I was never big on eating meat so cutting it out of my diet came natural. Being pregnant was rough. A lot of the meat substitutes I enjoyed tasted terrible and made me sick. When I asked the doctor about it he said I needed a balanced diet of protein and it was especially important because I'm anemic.I started incorporating more lentils, soy, even eggs and fish to satisfy my mom.
1559857 tn?1312845930 Its not medically documented. But I will say that we see Hashi people that do better eliminating lactose over on the thyroid forum. I switched to almond milk without soy, tastes great, good for you too. Hashis and soy is a big no no, despite what 'soy' people say - they seem to know minimal about Hashimoto and hormones. One thing about milk. All mammals (us included) by nature, are supposed to wean off milk during infancy. Humans have just decided not to.
Avatar m tn m trying to determine cause. I recently read soy protein may cause male breasts to swell. I use it daily in a health drink I mix on my Vitamix. Wonder if soy could be causing the problem. or ????
Avatar n tn Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones. It is important to eat the right combination of foods so you have the proper proteins and nutrients for your body too.
4808549 tn?1359436104 Hi, there I believe eating a diet reach in soy protein (tau foo, soy milk, soy protein powder, etc) is my answer to enhance my breasts naturally. I complement this diet with herbal breast enlargement serum. By religiously following this regimen my breasts have grown from 34B to 36C. I am 54 and very proud of my firm and sexy cleavage.
5079976 tn?1380275206 Protein comes from soy (tofu), beans, raw nuts, iron from dark leafy greens, like spinach.
Avatar f tn Well - you have got to have a liquid - so the options are water, milk, or soy/almond/rice/coconut milk. Then you have to have some source of protein. Other than protein powder, you are pretty limited. You don't want to use raw egg. You could use nuts or peanut butter. Other sources of protein such as cooked meat or fish wouldn't be particularly appetizing in a smoothie.
Avatar f tn soy is a controvercy that will always be there. Many leading health writers now say its bad for the whole body, yet many still support it. Its though to steer away from it if you have thyroid issues. Its used in Asia for centuries in food, but the difference apparently is fermentation....... or not, and how much you are consuming.
Avatar f tn One study says no more than 30 mgs of soy protein per week, another says as little as 30 mg of soy isoflavones per day can affect people with hypothyroidism. I am also having difficulty in finding how much that is (e.g. is 1 mg soy protein equal to 1 mg soy isoflavones; the articles I have found state that 30 soy isoflavones is the amount found in 5-8 ounces of soy milk which only contains 10 mg of soy protein).
Avatar f tn tofu, soy milk, soy yogurt, soy pudding, and soy ice cream. Incomplete proteins you need to combine foods such as beans and rice, pasta with vegetables, peanut butter and bread, nuts in salad, and beans with pasta. You can try any of the above to get protein in her for each meal. Milkshakes (milk, fresh fruit, and ice cream) are also good for extra protein too.
Avatar f tn Soy is known to cause stomach problems maybe stop and see if the pain subsides
Avatar m tn What you need to do is research the forms of protein. Some soy protein is quite bad for people, some is quite good. Depends on the form. Same with whey. For building muscle, some prefer egg protein, but most seem to like the whey. Organic is great, but when you're isolating something down to the protein, it's more important it be done correctly. An organic product that uses the wrong kind of method of isolating the protein isn't going to be very helpful.
9990306 tn?1407113138 t need animal foods to get protein -- nuts, seeds, and beans are all excellent sources of protein. Soy is the most complete of vegetable proteins that you can make a lot of things with, but any bean combined with a whole grain usually gives you a pretty complete protein. You don't need a protein shake, nobody does, for proper health -- shakes are either a shortcut for people in a hurry or for people trying to add lean muscle. Otherwise, you should get plenty from your regular meals.
Avatar m tn After struggling with on and off constipation I had put her on soy milk at the age of 4. Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content. I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills?
Avatar f tn Increase in thyroid meds can be 20 - 40% of the prepregnancy dose. it is normal to have to readjust monthly during the pregnancy and testing should be monthly. Also your doctor should be testing FT3 and FT4 and making sure that meds are adjusted to keep them in the upper 1/3 of the reference range. Best wishes and let us know how you go.
