Avatar n tn Just recently I have been given a sleep study and I had very little REM and many sleep apnea episodes, My Pulmonologist has ordered another sleep study using C-pap. I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
519592 tn?1211919961 It seems you are now under lot of stress causing you the sleep deprivation. You might be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and associated rhythmic movement disorder, which you need to get evaluated by a sleep doctor and also get a sleep test done. How about your blood pressure? Stress can trigger your migraine headache, which in turn worsens the sleep deprivation. It is better to consult a neurologist and a sleep specialist and discuss your plan of care.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
1926359 tn?1331588139 m going down by a third a week-the doc said this was ambitious but I really want to be free so there you have it. If I can get a few nights good sleep I will be prepared to deal with the sleep deprivation again....Ugh. So easy to put in your body...so hard to get out. Wish me luck with the sleep fairies tonight....
Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?

Avatar f tn My doctor (not the neuro) has suggested I may want to do a sleep study, the usual kind. He will prescribe it, and so on. The thing is, my sleep has been pretty horrible for years, ever since 2001. That's when I came off Klonopin with disastrous results. Since then I've had a lot of prescriptions to help with sleep, including quite a few for which somnolence is a side effect, but which I didn't need otherwise. In recent years I've had a lot of Ambien or Lunesta.
Avatar f tn Not everyone needs the typically recommended amount of sleep. I THOUGHT I was one of those people, but it turned out I was not. I believe that my avoidance of sleep was my body/brain's instinctive survival mechanism, as my sleep was both miserable and dangerous. Between obstructive sleep apnea and periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD), sleep was not a pleasant place to go, so I didn't until I collapsed.
507890 tn?1211294759 She might be having sleep terrors coupled with sleep apnea. These hallucinations are seen if sleep deprivation does continue for long time. Does she fall asleep for more part of day? Is she active in her studies and daily activities? Has ENT doctor for snoring problem seen her? It is better to consult the doctor at early and update on the advice. Take care.
Avatar f tn I will be headed back to the doc very soon and will be tested for hypoxemia and I believe he will be sending me out for another sleep study as an update as he mentioned before.
Avatar n tn Most dreaming happens towards the end of our sleep period, and with a high level of sleep deprivation, what little sleep you get could be deeper levels, as indicated by the time you spent in N2 and N3 sleep. You need to find an expert who can interpret your results. Sadly, some (most?) sleep "experts" are not sleep experts, they are sleep apnea experts who can do little more than diagnose sleep apnea and prescribe cpap machines. That was the results of my sleep study.
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
Avatar m tn I already was struggling with poor sleep due to sleep apnea that was undiagnosed at the time. At work my responsibilities increased and I was constantly rehashing in my mind the various decisions I had to make in selecting and writing specs for a data management software conversion. Then an extended family member was killed in the military and I had to plan the local service while the parents were out of state at the memorials on the base.
1845106 tn?1318905505 It may be sleep apnea or some other form of sleep disorder. I suggest talking to a doctor about it. They put you into a sleep study to make sure that you're getting enough oxygen and monitor your heart rate. There are treatments for sleep apnea so I really suggest you make an appointment sooner rather than later so you can get some good sleep.
Avatar m tn Chronic sleep deprivation can cause crazy symptoms including much of what you describe (dizziness, double vision). In fact, get a referral to a sleep specialist at a university hospital if you can. Sleep deprivation will do a number on your Nervous system, cardiovascular system etc. I turned out to have mixed sleep apnea -- some obstructive but also sleep onset central apnea. It got to the point where I was getting no sleep -- The moment I fell asleep, I stopped breathing.
Avatar f tn A sleep study might be required to know the sleep pattern. Also electromyography can also be done. Try to be relaxed and get physical therapy for a few sessions. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar f tn I even have the most powerful headache. Then I am afraid to go back to sleep thereby sleep deprivation. Is it a link with MS? I don't know. My neurologist want to schedule a sleep study.
